3. ACRONYMS/DEFINITIONS
3.1 ACRONYMS
3.2 DEFINITIONS
Drawing Revision (DWG REV) – A change that has been recorded on a drawing
Drawing Viewing System (also called Drawing Viewer) – A CNH Industrial system for electronically viewing
images of drawings and documents
Design Requirements – The physical and functional requirements for a particular item or object.
Engineering drawings – An engineering document or data set that discloses, directly or by reference, by
means of graphic or textual presentations, or by combinations of both, the physical or functional
requirements of an object.
Feature – A graphical display of a physical portion of a part (such as hole, slot, cut, fillet, round, chamfer,
boss, projection, rib, etc.)
Model – A combination of design model, annotation, and attributes that describes a product (see ASME
Y14.41).
Multiple Sheet Drawing – A drawing consisting of two or more sheets or rolls having the same drawing
number
Obsolete (void) – The part status of a part or an assembly no longer required for any company production
or service application. The term void is no longer in use and has been replaced by the term obsolete.
Redrawn Drawing – A “Redrawn” drawing is an existing drawing that is being recreated in order to replace
an existing drawing with an improved version.
Release – The authorization or confirmation to use or obtain an item as indicated. The item may or may
not be in a restricted state. The term “Formal Release” is used in GPD. The term “Official Release” is
used in Teamcenter. The term RELEASED DRAWING is recorded in the Changes box on a drawing.
Revision Symbol – A character used to convey revision level, typically the revision symbol is an
alphabetical character that is referred to as a “rev letter”.

4. RELATED DOCUMENTS
In the event of a conflict between the text of this standard and the references cited, the text of this standard
will take precedence.
The Revision History Block provides a uniform arrangement of blocks or fields for authorization
identification, revision level, change description (including drawing release notification), the name of an
appropriate individual associated with the change description and the date the information was recorded.
See CNH Drawing Standard DWGA100 - Drawing Sheet Sizes and Formats for the size and location of the
revision history block on the drawing form. For the purpose of this standard, the shortened term “revision
block” will be used in lieu of revision history block.
The default appearance of the revision block consists of the authorization identification being displayed on
the topmost line of the associated change description and an appropriate name and date are displayed on
“each” line of the change description. See Figure 1.
The previous practice of creating a “T” like appearance by limiting the display of the authorization
identification and the appropriate name and date to the topmost line except in those instances when more
than one individual records changes for the same authorization is no longer required but is still permitted.
See Figure 2.

CNH Industrial Ag/CE uses an Engineering Change Order (ECO) to authorize the release and/or revision
of parts, assemblies and drawings. The identifying number assigned to this authorization document is
recorded and displayed in the ECO column of the revision block.
The drawing revision level is indicated by means of a drawing revision symbol that is displayed in the ‘REV’
column of the revision history block. Each line of a change description must be identified with the
appropriate revision symbol. Most CNH Industrial Ag/CE drawings will start with the revision symbol A but
the Revision level on the drawing must match Engineering Central “Rev” attribute.

To support the drawing viewing system, a drawing revision level must be displayed when an image of a
drawing is placed in the drawing viewing system. This includes both a Not for Production “Preliminary
Drawing” and a “Released Drawing”.
To support the drawing viewing system, a drawing revision level must be advanced when an image of a
drawing is placed in the drawing viewing system. This includes recording when a drawing has been
redrawn.
Drawing revision symbols will be assigned as consecutive letters of the alphabet without any gaps or
omissions except for the letters I, O, Q and X. After the letter Z has been used, AA, AB, AC through AZ,
then BA, BB, etc. will identify additional revision levels.
Since the letters I, O, Q and X are to be omitted, they will not appear as single letters or as part of a double
letter revision symbol. This means letter combinations such as AI, AO, AQ, AX, BI, BO, BQ, BX, CI, CO,
CQ etc. and IA, IB, thru IX, IY, IZ, OA thru OZ, QA thru QZ and XA thru XZ will not be used.
When revising drawings that display a numerical revision sequence, the designer will discontinue the
numerical revision sequence and use the revision symbol A for the next revision level.
A complete, correct and comprehensive description of the changes made to a part, an assembly or the
drawing itself are recorded in this column as required.
CNH Industrial Ag/CE has chosen to standardize on one method for locating changes on all Product
engineering drawings. The method of enclosing a revision symbol within a circle or “balloon” known as the
balloon method is no longer permitted. This type of balloon is a change or revision location balloon and is
not to be confused with the Item / Quantity split balloon.
Furthermore, CNH Industrial Ag/CE takes exception to ASME Y14.35 and restricts the identification of
revision locations to the use of a numeric-alpha zone location to indicate the location of changes made
within the body of the drawing. The numeric-alpha zone location is determined by means of the zone
identification grid displayed in the margins of the drawing form. The numeric portion comes from the
horizontal grid numbers and the alpha character from the vertical grid. The numeric-alpha sequence is
used to prevent confusion with a previous practice of recording changes as B1, B2, etc. The revision
location is recorded as a parenthetical numeric-alpha (no hyphen) combination placed at the end of the
change description as follows: space (preferred but optional), left parenthesis, zone location, right
parenthesis. For example, 22 WAS 22.12 (3A), 120 WAS 118 (4B); RMVD 86868686 QTY 3 (5E). It is
recommended that the revision location be based on the location of the left edge of the item being
changed. The center of the item may be used in those instances when the left edge does not seem
appropriate or provide enough change location clarity.
The numeric-alpha zone location must be appended to the change description whenever the change is
located in the body of a drawing.
When more than one zone location is required to indicate the change on the drawing, the additional zone
or zones are to be appended as follows: space (preferred but optional), left parenthesis, zone location,
comma, space (optional), zone location, comma, space (optional), repeat as needed, right parenthesis.
For example, (3D, 8E, 12F) or (3D,8E,12F).

Standards may be added to or removed from the Applicable Standards Block as required. Revising a
standard requires removal of an existing standard(s) and then adding the desired standard(s) as needed.
One of the following texts must be displayed in the revision history block when adding or removing a
standard from the Applicable Standards Block. The word STANDARD may be abbreviated STD. The word
REMOVED may be abbreviated RMVD.
Note: Lower case letters “xxxxxxxx” represent the standard identification as it is shown in the STANDARD
column in the Applicable Standards Block on the drawing
The use of a zone location to highlight changes within the Applicable Standards Block may be used but it is
not required.
A change description that includes the title block field name within the description is recommended. For
example, SC CLASS WAS CNH1, APPROX MASS WAS n.n kg, ADDED REFERENCE PART pppppppp.
However, zone locations may be used to indicate title block change location but neither practice is
required.
One of the following texts listed below must be displayed in the revision history block when adding,
removing or changing a part number and/or part quantity in an Engineering Parts List. The change must
be recorded on the sheet or roll where the EPL is displayed.
Note, in the following examples, the lower case letter “n” represents a numeric quantity and the letters
“pppppppp” represent a part number.

A designer may include the EPL item number in conjunction with that part number. This will expand the
description from part number pppppppp to ITEM nn pppppppp (the rules for zone location are the same as
above). Examples of the expanded description are as follows:
For multiple sheet or roll drawing where an affected item number balloon is not located on the sheet or roll
where the EPL is displayed, additional information indicating what has specifically changed on that sheet or
roll must be recorded on the affected sheet or roll. In these instances, the zone location of the affected
item number balloon must be recorded on the affected sheet.
For example, if a part quantity has changed on sheet 3 of a multiple sheet drawing, the designer must
indicate what item number balloon or balloons have been revised on sheet 3 as well as recording this
information on the sheet with the EPL.
The previous quantity is recorded on the sheet that contains the EPL. (In this example sheet 1)
The affected item number balloon or balloons and previous quantity are recorded on the affected sheet.
(In this example sheet 3).
A pointer phrase indicating were the changes occurred is recorded on the non-affected sheets.
(In this example sheet 2).
a) The drawing must be regarded as the official document that authenticates part or assembly design
requirements. As a result a designer must indicate to the users of the drawing all changes made to
the part or assembly design requirements.
b) Change description content must include all changes in dimensions, tolerances, notes, views,
symbols, parts lists, Title Block, and Applicable Standards Block that define the design
requirements and originating drawing method (system).
c) The designer should take a systematic approach to record all changes in content or value that were
made to dimensions, tolerances, notes, views, symbols, the parts lists, Title Block, and Applicable
Standards Block such as starting with the parts list and moving clockwise around the drawing.
Changes must be recorded in English only.
d) When adding a new view, sheet or roll, all of the attached information (dimensions, tolerances,
notes, symbols etc.) do not have to be recorded as separate changes.
e) When removing a view, sheet or roll, all of the attached information (dimensions, tolerances, notes,
symbols etc.) do not have to be recorded as separate changes.
f) When adding a feature, this addition must be recorded, but all attached information (dimensions,
tolerances, symbols etc.) do not have to be recorded as separate changes.
g) When removing a feature, the removal must be recorded, but all attached information (dimensions,
tolerances, symbols etc.) do not have to be recorded as separate changes.
h) When existing information is moved to a new or existing sheet or roll, this relocation must be
recorded in the revision history block. When a view is moved from one sheet to another the
removal of the view from the existing sheet is recorded and the addition of the existing view to the
new sheet is recorded. All existing ancillary information (dimensions, tolerances, notes, symbols
etc.) do not have to be recorded as separate changes. All new attached information (dimensions,
tolerances, notes, symbols etc.) have to be recorded as separate changes on the sheet that
contains the transferred view. As below:
For roll drawings, “SHEET” or “ROLL” may be used when creating above text.
i) Phrases such as REVISED AND REDRAWN or UPDATED TO CURRENT STANDARDS are not
permitted and must not be used.
j) Change descriptions start at the bottom with additional descriptions placed above the last
description thus moving up towards the body of the drawing. More than one change description
can be entered per line to fill the entire line to conserve space if clarity is maintained. Ditto marks
are not permitted. Readable text is to be supported by means of proper punctuation, correct
spelling, and the limited use of abbreviations.

To prevent misinterpretation, the following words must not be abbreviated: ADDED, RELEASED,
REVISED, REDRAWN, REPLACED, CHANGE, CHANGES, MODEL, and DRAWING
l) Semicolons (;) should be placed at the end of a change description to distinguish between types of
changes. For example, ADDED 13 (3C); 12345678 WAS 87654321; RMVD NOTE 3 (8B).
Commas should be placed between each item in a series of identical changes, such as ADDED 13
(3C), 76.5 (4A), 301.2 (6K). See Figure 1.
m) The font and font size are to be per CNH Drawing Standard DWGA102 - Line Conventions and
Lettering. The shrinking of description font size to fit text into a single line is prohibited.
n) When an additional revision history block is available, the designer first places the change
descriptions in the right hand block then in the left hand block. A maximum of two (2) revision
history blocks are permitted on a single sheet or roll. Adding additional revision blocks is prohibited
however; a designer may add extra sheets or rolls after that one creating a multiple sheet drawing
for the sole purpose of obtaining additional revision history blocks. The complete change block
must have the phrase “ADDED SHEET n TO RECORD ADDITIONAL CHANGES FOR SHEET m”
at the last line and the added sheet with extra history blocks must start with the same phrase, other
sheets will follow the same rules from section 7.4 for the added sheet.
o) When the revision block is filled from previous changes and a proposed change needs to be
recorded some CAD systems will remove the oldest recorded changes until sufficient space has
been created. The designer must remove all change or revision location balloons from the drawing
that were associated with the removed changes. In this situation, recording the change balloons
removal is not mandatory.
p) In those instances when all previous change history is being purged from the drawing the
designer must do the following:
1) Review the drawing viewing system to ensure a drawing image with all of the information that is
about to be removed is available. The drawing image must align with the Engineering Central
(EC) release status. This is done to ensure a complete part history is available for viewing. If
no such drawing image exists the designer must create and release a drawing or equivalent
documentation prior to making any additional changes.
2) The designer removes all previous ECO numbers, change descriptions, initials, names and dates
from the revision history block on all sheets of the drawing. The phrase SEE DRAWING
VIEWER FOR PRIOR CHANGES must be added before recording the other changes. An
appropriate revision symbol will be placed in the REV block to the left of the phrase. Adding the
phrase RMVD or REMOVED CHANGE BALLOONS FOR REV x, REV x etc.is optional.
3) The designer must remove all change or revision location balloons from the drawing that were
associated with the removed changes.

q) Unless otherwise stated within a standard, the phrase SEE DRAWING VIEWER FOR PRIOR
CHANGES may not be used for any other purpose. The concept of being able to view the previous
version in a viewing system does not typically meet the complete change description requirement
for the following reasons.
When changes are recorded by someone other than a CNH Industrial employee, the first initial (without a
period), a space and full last name of the CNH Industrial employee responsible for the changes being
made must be placed in the BY field along with a date.
Per CNH Engineering Procedure ENPF105 – Step Release Process the change description for the initial
creation of a preliminary drawing will be the phrase PRELIMINARY DRAWING. An image of the
preliminary drawing may be created at Step 2 and must be created at Step 3.
When creating a preliminary drawing the drawing revision history block is completed as follows:
• An ECO number must not be shown and is to be omitted from the ECO column.
• Revision level is placed in the REV column.
• The text PRELIMINARY DRAWING is placed in the change description field labeled CHANGES.
• The first initial (no period), space, last name of the CNH Industrial employee responsible for placing
the text in the change description field is placed in the BY column.
• The date the text was placed in the change description field is placed in the DATE column.
Engineering Central allows the advancement of the revision level of a preliminary drawing without requiring
an ECO. In this instance, the part or any previous revision of the part must not be nor have ever been
connected to an ECO. Drawing changes during this pre-release period are permitted.
Because of the uncertainty with regard to whether or not a drawing has been circulated or shared during
the Step 2 or Step 3 release process (without ECO) every change should be recorded or the specific
phrase CHANGES NOT RECORDED or SOME CHANGES NOT RECORDED must be displayed in the
revision history block.
It must be noted that during this Preliminary Release period that changes may be displayed:
• At the same revision level, with the same date but with multiple employee names.
• At the same revision level, with the same employee name with different changes on different dates.
• An ECO number must not be shown and is to be omitted from the ECO column.
• The revision level must be sequentially advanced as needed and placed in the REV column.
• A complete description of what has been changed should be recorded in the change description
field.
• The first initial (no period), space, last name of the CNH Industrial employee responsible for placing
the text in the change description field is placed in the BY column.
• The date the text was placed in the change description field is placed in the DATE column.
During the pre-release period, some or all of the change descriptions may be omitted. Although this
practice is permitted, it is not recommended. This exception can only be made if the previous revision is
not released and a designer obtains approval from Purchasing or Manufacturing (depending on make/buy
definition) to omit information. However, in the event of any disagreement, the Platform Manager’s
decision will be final as to whether or not this practice will be permitted.
• An ECO number must not be shown and is to be omitted from the ECO column.
• The revision level must be sequentially advanced as needed and placed in the REV column.
• The phrase CHANGES NOT RECORDED is placed in the change description field.
• The first initial (no period), space, last name of the CNH Industrial employee responsible for placing
the text in the change description field is placed in the BY column.
• The date the text was placed in the change description field is placed in the DATE column.

Per CNH Engineering Procedure ENPF105 – Step Release Process the change description for the initial
release of a drawing will be the phrase RELEASED DRAWING.
When releasing a drawing without any previous images the drawing revision history block is completed as
follows:
When releasing a preliminary drawing with no additional changes the drawing revision history block is
completed as follows:

• An ECO number must be shown and is placed in the ECO column on the same line where the
phrase RELEASED DRAWING appears.
• The revision level must be sequentially advanced as needed and placed in the REV column.
• The phrase RELEASED DRAWING is placed in the change description field labeled CHANGES.
• The first initial (no period), space, last name of the CNH Industrial employee responsible for
creating the drawing image is placed in the BY column.
• The date the text was placed in the change description field is placed in the DATE column.
When releasing a preliminary drawing in conjunction with a change or changes the drawing revision
history block is completed as follows:
• An ECO number must be shown and is placed in the ECO column on the same line where the
phrase RELEASED DRAWING appears.
• The revision level must be sequentially advanced as needed. The same revision level is placed
in the REV column for both the recorded change and the phrase RELEASED DRAWING.
• A description of what was changed or a phrase indicating that all or some changes were not
recorded is placed on the first available line of the field labeled CHANGES.
• The phrase RELEASED DRAWING must be listed after all of the change information has been
recorded in the change description field on its own separate line (i.e. the topmost line).
• The first initial (no period), space, last name of the CNH Industrial employee responsible for
recording the change description is placed in the corresponding BY column.
• The first initial (no period), space, last name of the CNH Industrial employee responsible for listing
RELEASED DRAWING is placed in the corresponding BY column.
• The date the text was placed in the change description field is placed in the corresponding DATE
column.
• The date the drawing was released is placed in the corresponding DATE column.
It is mandatory that any changes to the part, assembly or drawing that occurred prior to the drawing being
released be recorded or in those instances when some or all of the change descriptions are omitted the
appropriate phrase CHANGES NOT RECORDED or SOME CHANGES NOT RECORDED be displayed.

When circulating proposed changes on an already released drawing, the designer should use appropriate
tools to “mark-up” a drawing, either create a revised image or create a new Preliminary Drawing version
with the proposed changes.
In addition, the following change description for indicating the initial release of a drawing to resolve a “No
Drawing” status in Engineering Central is as follows:
The following change descriptions were previously used to indicate the initial release of a drawing and are
no longer permitted.
Furthermore, a descriptive phrase or word to indicate various purposes for release such as RELEASED
FOR COST or RELEASED FOR PROTOYPE are no longer permitted. The user must now look to
Engineering Central to determine Design Maturity and in accordance with CNH Engineering Procedure
ENPF105, what actions are authorized. See Figure 10.

7. DRAWING REVISIONS
See CNH Engineering Policy and Procedure ENPC100 – CNH Part Numbering.
A “Redrawn” drawing is a drawing that is being recreated in order to replace an existing drawing with an
improved version. The drawing may or may not be revised when redrawn. If revised, all changes or
revisions performed during this process must be recorded. To ensure the improved version is placed in the
drawing viewing system; the drawing revision level must be advanced when a drawing is redrawn and
released. The advancement must occur even when no revisions are being recorded.
The only exception is when a drawing, or a sheet of a drawing, is being replaced because of loss,
destruction, or degradation. In this instance, the replacement will duplicate the requirements of the original
drawing and the note REDRAWN WITHOUT CHANGE RECREATED ORIGINAL DRAWING is recorded in
the revision block. The replacement drawing is placed in the drawing viewing system at its original revision
level.
The original Drawn By and Date information will be retained in the title block when redrawn. See CNH
DWGA100. The person doing the redraw will place his or her first initial (no period), space, last name in
the revision block. (Please note that retaining the original designer and date represents a change to the
former New Holland drafting practice of replacing the original designers name with the name of the person
doing the redraw.)
It should be noted that the redraw without change procedure only pertains to a drawing. There is no impact
on part design.
The phrase REDRAWN WITHOUT CHANGE is displayed in the revision history block along with specific
text that describes what aspect of the drawing was improved during this process.
If the drawing or sheet of a drawing has been redrawn from one medium or system to another the phrase
REDRAWN WITHOUT CHANGE WAS (list previous medium) is recorded in the revision block. When
recorded, the former medium may not be abbreviated but must be spelled out in its entirety.
The phrase REDRAWN WITH CHANGES is displayed in the revision history block along with specific text
that describes what aspect of the drawing was improved during this process. The designer then must
record the additional changes that have been made. See Figure 11
If the drawing or a sheet of a drawing is being redrawn and is undergoing extensive revisions during the
process, every effort must be made to record those revisions in the revision block. The phrase REVISED
AND REDRAWN by itself is not sufficient and is no longer permitted.
The title block field Design Control should be kept in sync with the Engineering Central attribute Design
Location. This is automatically supported in Creo2 but may have to be completed manually in other CAD
systems. The former practice of recording the transfer of Design Control is no longer required.
All sheets or rolls of a multiple sheet drawing must be sequentially numbered beginning with the number
one (1). Sheet/roll number and total sheets/rolls must be complete and correct and is displayed in the title
block field labeled SHEET.
Each sheet or roll of a multiple sheet drawing must contain a revision block. If more revision history space
is required, extra sheets or rolls must be added. Refer to Section 5.4.5 (o).
In all instances SHEET or SHEETS may be abbreviated as SHT or SHTS and the text AND may be
replaced with an ampersand (&). For example, ADDED SHT n or ADDED SHTS n AND n or ADDED
SHTS n, n & n.
All sheets or rolls of a multiple sheet drawing must be maintained at the same, latest revision level. To
prevent misinterpretation on a multiple sheet drawing, the date shown on the topmost line of the change
description must be identical on all sheets.
The phrase PRELIMINARY DRAWING must be placed on each sheet of a multiple sheet drawing when an
image of the drawing is being created for the purpose of circulation prior to drawing release.
The phrase RELEASED DRAWING must be placed on each sheet of a multiple sheet drawing when an
image of the drawing is being created to indicate that the drawing is released.
A single sheet drawing becomes a multiple sheet drawing when a second sheet (or more) is added. This
includes a drawing to which a CNH DWGA101 supplier drawing form has been added as Sheet 2 in
accordance with CNH Drawing Standard DWGA125 – Document Source Management on Drawings and
Parts Categorization.
When adding a sheet or roll to a drawing with an existing image in a drawing viewing system one of the
following phrases must be placed on all sheets as needed.
(Note: n = sheet or roll number of the added sheet or roll.)
When removing a sheet or roll, the removal must be recorded on Sheet 1 as shown below.
(Note: n = sheet or roll number of the removed sheet or roll.)
REMOVED (or RMVD) SHEET (or SHT) n or REMOVED (or RMVD) ROLL n
Changes must be recorded on the affected sheet(s) or roll(s). The unaffected sheet(s) or roll(s) must
contain a “pointer” statement to identify which sheet(s) or roll(s) were revised. One of the following phrases
must be placed on the unaffected sheet(s) or roll(s).
(Note: n = sheet or roll number of the revised sheet or roll.)
8. SPECIAL SITUATIONS
On CAD system drawings, revisions must be recorded and displayed on the drawings/models in
accordance with the recommended practices for that CAD system. For example, a separate layer on a
drawing or model may be designated for revision information.
8.2.1 Drawings are obsoleted in Engineering Central by means of an ECO. Advancement of the drawing
revision level is not required. The drawing viewing system will indicate that the drawing is obsolete by
displaying a red Z in the field labeled ST as shown below. In addition, an OBSOLETE watermark is placed
on the image of the drawing in the drawing viewing system. See Figure 15

The designer may revise the Noun Phrase modifier to show the replacement part number and read
REPLACED BY pppppppp, REPL BY pppppppp or R/B pppppppp as shown below.
8.2.2 The former practice of placing a note on the drawing to indicate that the drawing is obsolete,
recording the associated ECO and advancing the drawing revision level to replace the existing drawing
viewing system image is no longer permitted.
8.2.3 If a part is being designated obsolete due to serious field failures or other problems, the part must
not be reinstated and “Never Reinstate” must be selected for reason for obsolescence.

8.3.1 Whenever a part is being reinstated the drawing image is revised after being designated obsolete
an ECO must be issued to indicate that the drawing has been reinstated. See Figure 16. The revision
level is advanced and an updated image is placed in the drawing viewing system. This procedure includes
removing any obsolete notation displayed on the drawing. In order to keep EC and drawing history
synchronized, the ECO used to obsolete the part must also be recorded.
8.3.2 Drawings that are processed as “Multi-image” creation in the drawing viewing system per CNH
Engineering Procedure ENPC150 - Managing Multiple Part Number Drawings are exceptions to Section
8.3.1. When reinstating a part that is handled in this manner, the part will be reinstated at the last active
revision level and then is brought to the same revision level as the rest of the parts on the drawing. An
ECO must then be released to raise the revision level of all of the parts and to indicate on the drawing that
the part has been reinstated. See Figure 17. For “single image” chart or tabulated drawings only the
reinstated part and drawing itself will have their individual revision level advanced.
Past drafting practices allowed a single drawing to be used to document more than one part number.
Current and best practice is that every part should have its own drawing to support the part’s viability within
CNH. Chart or tabulated drawings occur when several part numbers are displayed together (usually in a
list) because of common part characteristics. Some drawings listed two part numbers on the same drawing
and were referred to as ‘shown on’ drawings. The term ‘shown on’ drawing has been replaced with
multiple part number drawing. A ‘No Drawing’ part is a part which appears as a component on an
assembly drawing and whose specifications are defined within that assembly.
A part placed on a tabulated or chart drawing will have its own revision symbol; for example, a shim on a
shim chart drawing. The part revision status may be independent of the drawing revision level on which
the part is displayed and is not required to be identical or synchronized with the drawing revision level.
However, when a new part number is added to the drawing the revision symbol must be identical to the
Engineering Central revision level. The revision level for the tabulated drawing must be advanced with a
notation about adding the part number recorded in the description area. The part revision status will be
displayed by means of a separate revision symbol in a column that is labeled as such and displayed to
either the right or the left of the part number. See Figure 18.

Reinstating a part on a tabulated or chart drawing will be processed in the same manner as a “Multi-image”
drawing. See Section 8.3.2.
CNH Drawing Standard DWGA150 – Casting and Forging Drawings recommends that a raw casting or
forging should have a separate drawing from the machined version; however, in some instances the raw
casting or forging and the finished part may be displayed on the same drawing. In this situation, the chart
method should be used to display part revision level. With this method, the raw casting or forging revision
level need not be advanced when the changes are only occurring on the finished part.
For parts placed on a multiple part number (shown on) drawing, the part revision symbol and part status
will be identical with the revision level of the drawing. This includes ‘no drawing’ parts except for
casting/forging drawings as already noted. The following are some examples of multiple part number
drawings. For further details see CNH Engineering Procedure ENPC150 - Managing Multiple Part Number
Drawings.
Assembly drawings need to comply with the same interchangeability criteria as stated in CNH Engineering
Procedure ENPC100 – CNH Part Numbering. Changing an assembly drawing normally occurs when
views, dimensions, parts lists or notes are impacted. However, it may be necessary to advance the
drawing revision level on an assembly drawing in order to convey the fact that a detail part(s) has changed.
In this instance, the change description area would list the part number(s) of the detail part(s). In general,
the notification continues “up” the subassembly/assembly drawing chain until inventory can be controlled,
usually when the item becomes serviceable or some other logical stopping point is reached. An example
of this type of stopping point might be a welded subassembly whose inventory can be reworked or
scrapped and yet it is not a serviceable part.

The initial release of a supplier drawing into the CNH drawing viewing system will be in accordance with
Section 6 with the exception of multiple sheet drawings.
When a supplier’s drawing is released, the initial revision level will be assigned by CNH. For further details
see CNH Drawing Standard DWGA125 or CNH Engineering Procedure ENPC150.
When releasing a supplier drawing results in a multiple sheet drawing the releasing revision level must be
identical to the final revision level of the other sheets or rolls upon completion of the release.
There are instances when a BOM is released in Engineering Central (EC) at revision level A without
releasing a drawing. When a drawing is created after the BOM is released into EC, the first revision for the
new drawing is the next revision letter up from the BOM revision letter released in EC. The first line in the
revision block will display the phrase RELEASED DRAWING, WAS NO DRAWING IN EC.

CNH Drawing Standard DWGA120 describes the contents of and requirements for recording drawing
revision history and is not to be listed in the Applicable Standards Block nor be displayed as a note on a
drawing.
10.1 IMPLEMENTATION
All CNH Industrial Ag/CE Product Engineering drawings (including those made from cloned parts) released
after the publication and adoption of CNH DWGA120 Rev F must have their drawing revision history
recorded in accordance with this standard.
10.2.1 All CNH Industrial Ag/CE Product Engineering drawings released prior to the publication and
adoption of CNH DWGA120 Rev F need not be modified but can retain their original drawing revision
practices.
10.2.2 If a drawing is being revised and a new format is not required, the drawing may continue its existing
drawing revision practices with the following exception. Those drawings that have already been redrawn
onto the new drawing form but still use the legacy balloon location method must be revised as follows.
• All legacy location balloons must be removed if the corresponding change description is no longer
displayed on the changes block.
• All drawing revisions recorded after the release of CNH DWGA120 Rev F must use the zone
location method when required to indicate the change location.
10.2.3 If a drawing is being revised but a new format is required, the drawing must be revised and updated
in accordance with this standard.
This may be accomplished by removing all previous ECO numbers, change descriptions, initials, names
and dates from the revision block on all sheets of the drawing. The phrase SEE DRAWING VIEWER FOR
PRIOR CHANGES must then be placed on the first line of the revision history block. The designer then
records the current revision per this standard.
10.2.4 Legacy drawings that followed a numeric revision level sequence must adopt the alphabetical
Revision Symbol sequence and will typically begin with the letter A regardless of the last numeric revision
level.

APPENDIX A
To assist in adequately describing drawing revisions within the CHANGES portion of the revision history
block, the following examples are listed as acceptable change description text for adding, removing or
changing information on a drawing. It should be noted that changes are typically described by displaying
the previous condition or value of the item being recorded. In other words, the user can see what has
occurred but cannot see what the item in question was prior to being revised. For example, 23.5 WAS 22
(2B) informs the user that the previous value for 23.5 located in zone 2A was 22.
Note: The words ADDED, RELEASED, REVISED, REDRAWN, REPLACED, CHANGE, CHANGES,
MODEL, and DRAWING must not be abbreviated when used as part of a change description.
Note: Lower case letter n represents a numeric value such as a dimension or a quantity
Lower case letter x represents an alpha character
Lower case letters pppppppp represent a part number
Lower case letters xxxxxxxx represent an eight (8) character alpha numeric
Note: Descriptions are displayed with approved abbreviations and/or symbols. A designer may use
unabbreviated text when recording the change description. For example, REMOVED RADIUS nn (4A) or
ADDED REFERENCE DIMENSION (nn.n) (4A) or DIAMETER WAS nn (4A).
Note: When adding, removing or changing a part, the minimum required information is just the part number
(pppppppp). The designer may add the abbreviation P/N or the unabbreviated text PART NUMBER. In
addition, the designer may add ITEM nn to the change description but the part number (pppppppp) must be
still present.
It is noted that some acceptable change descriptions are now non-specific. For example REMOVED
WELD SYMBOL (5E). However, a designer may record an expanded description that exceeds what is
listed in Appendix A. For example, REMOVED FILLET WELD SYMBOL (5E) or REMOVED 5 mm FILLET
WELD (5E).
