Final Exam Assignment – Summer 2022

100 marks (30% of your final grade)
Part 1 - Short Answer Questions – 50 marks total

There are 5 questions with different marks attached. When you answer each question, if you
refer to any resources, including the lecture materials, textbook, or other materials you must
cite your sources using proper APA referencing.

Answer the questions in this template and upload this template to the submission folder as a
Word document. Refer to the Assignment Handout for the rubrics.

1. Many customers who use mobile devices prefer to make purchases using a
mobile app instead of their devices' Web browsers. In about 200 words, outline
the advantages and disadvantages of using a merchant's mobile app to select and
purchase products.
(10 marks)
Today, most individuals own mobile devices, which may run several apps for
various uses. Many businesses, restaurants, and retail outlets have mobile apps
where users can make purchases and place orders for items for pickup or
delivery. Here are some of the drawbacks and advantages of these different
applications.
Advantages-
1. Reach out to clients quickly and easily: From what I can see, mobile
devices are convenient and easy to use. We receive a better user
experience in mobile applications than on the company's website. Said,
greater functionality and user interface draw customers to mobile
applications. Since most customers use smartphones and can easily
access mobile applications, businesses may indirectly reach a more
extensive client base in this way.
2. Market control: If a business has its own branded application, there are
several areas over which management may exercise effective and
convenient control. When it comes to branding, it's essential to consider
how customers perceive your application and how it represents your brand.
In terms of security and privacy, your application is more secure than any
other browsing channel. Security is the cornerstone of every successful
online business.
3. The finest interactive and user-friendly tailored experiences and
involvement for games and a user's tastes, region, and culture are provided
by interactive platform-Apps. The video game Angry Birds, Facebook, hotel,
and banking applications are examples.
4. Utilization of Device features, such as programming the app to take
advantage of tools like a camera that can read QR and bar codes for
financial transactions. Furthermore, GPRS connections may be received.
These days, applications can even scan your fingerprint.
Disadvantages-
1. Not instantaneously accessible: Unlike mobile webpages, applications
cannot claim to be instantly accessible. They require additional fees for
download and installation. However, a variety of gadgets may readily
access mobile websites.
2. Not directly compatible; apps must be developed independently for each
mobile device operating system. However, several mobile device types are
consistent with one another.
3. Apps cannot be immediately updated, unlike mobile websites, which can do
so without putting consumers at risk.
4. Apps can only be available through the manufacturer's shops, making them
difficult to obtain. On the other side, search results pages for mobile
websites make it simple to visit them. They can reach a bigger audience. In
contrast to applications, website users may share and access web pages
using simple links.

2. Visit the website of a business that sells a membership online. Describe the process that a
visitor would follow to shop for a membership. Evaluate how well the site describes its
membership options and encourages a visitor to purchase one.

Does the site you selected make a convincing case for buying a membership? Provide at
least 3 recommendations for improving the site you selected. Include the link to the
website and the company name. For each question below, write 2-3 paragraphs. (20
marks total)
Name of Website and link:
Title of Website: Disney+
Link: https://www.disneyplus.com/home

Describe the process that a visitor would follow to shop for a membership: (5 marks)
Step 1: Visit the Disney+ website by clicking on the following link:
https://www.disneyplus.com/home.
Step 2: Select the "SIGNUP" link in the upper right corner.
Step 3: After selecting "SIGN UP," enter your email address in the field given. A
person must click the checkbox next to the email address.
Step 4: Select "AGREE & CONTINUE" from the menu.
Step 5: Type your password, which must match the case of the letters and numbers,
and then click "LOG IN."
Step 6: There are two options under the Start Streaming Today menu, and you may
choose either.
Step 7: After choosing a subscription plan, the user must provide the information for
either a credit or debit card or a PayPal account.
Step 8: After entering the required information, press the "AGREE & SUBSCRIBE"
button.
Step 9: Take advantage of live sporting events, TV programs, and streaming media.

Evaluate how well the site describes its membership options and encourages a visitor to
purchase one: (5 marks)

A separate part for signing up for their subscription is only available on Disney+'s
main website, which provides excellent descriptions of many aspects of their
membership. The advantages and perks have all been thoroughly explained. The
famed gorges that are shown on the home page are touted throughout the website,
frightening away potential buyers. Furthermore, there are no pop-ups or negative
adverts on the website. The registration purchase process is simple and easy to use.
Because thumbnails are small, there may be a lot of photos on the landing page,
creating a typically excellent display of what's within.

Does the selected site make a convincing case for buying a membership? Why or why not? (5
marks)
I believe the site presents a strong case for joining the participation since the
information is current and applicable to today's society, including the problem-free
insight and the evolving nature of the recordings. The connection shouldn't bother the
client because the material benefits them. Without constantly starting again, one may
carry on from the moment that was paused.

Provide 3 recommendations for improving the site you selected. (5 marks)

Three suggestions for enhancing the website:

1. Better New Episode Announcements, for starters.
2. Reintroduce the Coming Soon part. I've been mentioning this forever, but since
Disney+'s launch, there hasn't been a section devoted to what's coming next.
3. Bring Back the A-Z Index - The ability to explore the entire Disney+ library in one
easy-to-use list has been removed since the launch of "Star" as the new general
entertainment brand to Disney+ worldwide in February.
Improved Collections - Periodically, Disney+ will introduce a brand-new collection
showcasing several movies and TV shows centered on a particular subject. However,
some of these collections are limited and not accessible globally, which usually
makes sense given that the material is accessible (Disney+ Canada, 2018).
4. Explain why an e-commerce site might not want to report being the target of
cybercriminals. Describe what might happen if they report it. (10 marks)

Web-based trades are becoming increasingly popular, and more individuals

participate. This new technology raises the possibility of cybercrime. To prevent
customers and companies from stopping these wrongdoings, the government has put
in place some limitations. The prevalence of cybercrime is rising, and certain security
technologies are being created. Nevertheless, some online businesses decline to
claim that they are the target of cybercriminals for the following reasons:
1) The primary defense for this is that businesses risk losing the loyalty of their
steadfast clients, which might harm their position and gain them less.
2) It is impossible to pinpoint the exact cost of the setbacks caused by cybercrime.
3. Because there is no verification, customers won't make purchases from online
business locations.
4) The organization could concede that the inappropriate behavior was controlled by
its uncomfortable safety efforts.
5) The site could eventually lean toward cybercrime.
6) Online businesses should alert the appropriate authorities about concerns about
cybercrime.
Clients whose addresses, bank account numbers, and other personal information are
stored on a company's platforms are put at risk when its servers are compromised,
which might foster mistrust between the company and its customers. This highlights a
company's flaws and might result in clientele loss.
Inaccurate or incorrect PR might damage the public's perception of your business and
drive away customers. Even if a company has recovered from its problems, once its
servers have been infiltrated, clients find it challenging to make purchases on its
platform (Disney+, 2018).

5. Name five eCommerce website features that an online clothing retailer might use to help
customers find products in the right styles, colors, or sizes for them. (10 marks)
An online shoe retailer could use the websites listed below as instances of digital
resources to help clients select products that are suitable designs, colors, and sizes
for them:
1. The website needs to be well-structured and valuable from the inside out. Each pair
of shoes should be presented in a way that appeals to the client, and prospective
buyers should be aware of the different sizes.
2. The website's content should be easy to understand for mobile users. In general, it
ought to be sophisticated for users of portable devices.
3. To guarantee that visitors like using the website every time they come, it should
also be routinely modified with excellent information and new graphics.
4. The website should have information that is simple to find, such as location and
contact details. The client frequently explores the website for the customer care
number and, if it is prominently displayed, the client receipt.
5. The website should offer a clear source of inspiration and encourage customers to
make purchases as soon as possible.

Part 2 – Reflection – 50 marks

This section of the exam is an individual reflection based on past experiences, previous
learning, and current knowledge from this course. For each section below, write 2-3
paragraphs with the starting point of each prompt.

You should NOT need to search the internet for any of these answers, these are your thoughts
and therefore, there should NOT be any copying or cutting and pasting.

1. Based on my experiences, from this course on eCommerce, I learned that there is

more to online business than what might be immediately visible. The online business
platforms that surround us and support every aspect of our reality are still in progress.
The topic of internet business helped with comprehending the more profound
consequences and ways of thinking around setting up a web-based social platform.
The fascinating aspect for me is how bright and versatile it is.
I believe the broad concept of the online business stage is a business idea that may
be explored by many business visionaries and become well-known in the IT industry.
My conviction is founded on the idea that web-based businesses may still be in the
early stages of development.

2. Throughout the training, I became aware of this. Similar to when I learned about
the numerous perspectives needed while creating and maintaining a web-based
business stage. Many people sometimes disregard "internet business" as a
commercial term. Still, it actually has a lot more potential than it used to. Jeff Bezos,
the founder of Amazon and the wealthiest man in the world, is the most successful
role model. He started out with a website for his firm and is now the only businessman
to have traveled to space. I had to create my own E-commerce site, which forced me
to consider my viewpoint.
3. This knowledge is essential since, in the modern world, online commerce plays a
significant role in our daily lives, making knowledge of how it operates essentially. We
want this information to fully appreciate the stages and speculate on the core ideas
involved in putting the set together. These are significant following their increased
likelihood to appeal to the preferences of the customers a company is aiming to
attract.
You should set up your internet business, or perhaps you are already working for one;
this knowledge is significant because the online business determines the company's
fate. We have gone from buying clothes in a physical store to purchasing cars in only
a few years, which is a testament to how quickly the globe has moved through various
online business phases.

4. I now have a different perspective on how these stages seem due to what I have
learned. Thanks to this study, I could better understand the operation and importance
of the web-based business stages.
This also helped me comprehend the locations of the many significant markings of the
numerous phases that were previously ignored. I acknowledge that this research
occasionally aids in developing my online company.

5. Suppose I were an entrepreneur just starting or working under a manager. In that

case, the information and abilities I would impose on my career include knowing how
to develop the web-based enterprise phase, the importance of protection and stability,
recognizing the clients' preferences, various tactics to choose while laying out your
web-based business stage, and most importantly, the importance of web-based
company or organization in our lives and the future.
