Title: Organic food purchasing behavior in the province of Bataan

Statement of the Problem

This study aims to examine organic food purchasing behavior in the province of Bataan. The
participants of this study will be composed of potential consumers of organic products currently residing
in Bataan. Specifically, the study aims to answer the following questions:
1. What are the factors that are the most likely to influence potential consumers to purchase
local organic food products?
2. Do demographic factors such as age, income, and educational level influence?

Scope and Delimitation of the Study

This study seeks to examine the various factors that may influence participants to purchase
organic products. This research focuses on potential consumers of organic products and is delimited to
respondents residing in Bataan.
Participants will be asked to rate how likely they are to buy organic food products. They will then
be asked to rank a number of predefined factors related to organic food production from high to low, with
the highest ranked factor being the most likely to influence the participant to buy organic food products,
and the lowest ranked factor to be of least influence. These factors are sustainability, price, the appearance
of products, nutritional values, and local production. The study will also assess the correlation between
each of the demographic factors (age, income, educational level) and the likelihood of buying organic
food products.

Significance of the Study

The study would help in assessing the reasons that consumers choose to either buy organic or
non-organic products. Understanding the study will be beneficial to:
Consumers may use this study to study and find why fellow consumers would/wouldn’t buy
organic products and better understand the product/s that they will potentially consume. The
information gathered may help consumer decision-making by giving the consumers the factors
that other consumers have been influenced by.
Farmers may use the findings of the study to further innovate or change their methods in tending
their farms and marketing to their consumers according to the factors that are observed to be the
most influential to consumers.
Future researchers may also use the information gathered to be used for further research,
especially in areas concerning consumer behavior. This can also serve as a reference for future
research related to organic farming and consumer purchasing behavior.
