Anybody who is over the age of six knows that there is nowhere safe for skateboarders to skate.
This prevents young people from enjoying an active, energetic and adventurous pastime.
Just watch a local street for a short while and note the steady stream of skaters speeding up and
down the footpaths. Toddlers can be trampled on and old ladies can be knocked down as they struggle
home carrying their cat food from supermarkets.
Skateboarding is a serious sport that improves young people’s health. It increases fitness,
improves balance and strengthens the joints in knees and ankles. Although it appears to be a solo sport,
when groups practice together and compete to perform stunts or runs they form firm friendships.
Young people should be prevented from becoming overweight couch potatoes. If they are
actively involved in skating, they do not smoke, take drugs or break laws for fun.
Kids will always seek thrills and excitement. They need to practice their 180s, 360s and Ollie’s
free from restrictions. We must build skate parks in the suburbs so that streets are safe for small
children and senior citizens and skaters have spaces where they can race, chase, speed, and soar
towards the sun.
Two Brothers
Long ago, there were two brothers called Akomi and Ombah. They were ambitious and winning.
Akomi, the elder brother, said, "If we become the King's employees, we can make laws to collect more
money from the people. We will become very rich."
They went to see King Aruya. Akomi said, "Your Majesty, let us be your ministers. We will make
good laws. All your subjects will be happy. I am wise and clever. I know everything."
King Aruya said angrily, "That is not true! Nobody knows everything. For example, do you know
how many stars there are in the sky? Guards! Throw this liar into the river of crocodiles!"
Ombah's hands trembled. Then he thought to himself, "King Aruya will also punish me if I say
the wrong thing. My brother said he knew everything and his answer was wrong. So if I say the opposite,
my answer will be right." Ombah then said, to King Aruya, "Your majesty, I know nothing."
King Aruya said, "That is also a lie. Nobody knows nothing, truly! Everybody knows at least
something. For example, you know your father's name, don't you? Guards! Throw him into the river of
crocodiles, too!"
Have you ever visited Singapore? Well, if you haven’t, let me tell you about Singapore.
Singapore is an island city. Its population is about three million people. Most Singaporeans live in high-
rise apartments.
Singapore is a beautiful city with lots of parks and open spaces. It is also a very clean city. You
know, the business district is very modern, with lots of tall and new buildings.
Now, let me tell you about the old section of the city. In China town, there are rows of old shop
houses. The government buildings in Singapore are also very unique and antique. They date from the
British colonial days.
Shopping! Wow, this is the part that I like very much! Singapore is famous for its many good
shopping centers. Most of the goods are duty-free. It’s a heaven for shoppers.
What about food? It’s delicious! Singapore restaurants provided Chinese, Indian, Malay, and
European food. And the prices are quite reasonable. I bet you “like” it.
Well, since Singapore lies near the equatorial line, of course it has a tropical climate, with a nice

Mr. Richard’s family was on vacation. They are Mr. and Mrs. Richard with two sons. They went
to London. They saw their travel agent and booked their tickets. They went to the British Embassy to get
visas to enter Britain. They had booked fourteen days tour. This included travel and accommodation.
They also included tours around London.
They boarded a large Boeing flight. The flight was nearly fourteen hours. On the plane the cabin
crews were very friendly. They gave them newspaper and magazine to read. They gave them food and
drink. There was a film for their entertainment. They had a very pleasant flight. They slept part of the
way.
On arrival at Heathrow Airport, they had to go to Customs and Immigration. The officers were
pleasant. They checked the document carefully but their manners were very polite. Mr. Richard and his
family collected their bags and went to London Welcome Desk. They arranged the transfer to a hotel.
The hotel was a well-known four-star hotel. The room had perfect view of the park. The room
had its own bathroom and toilet. Instead of keys for the room, they inserted a key-card to open the
door. On the third floor, there was a restaurant serving Asian and European food. It had variety of food.
The two week in London went by fast. At the end of the 14-day, they were quite tired but they
felt very happy.
