Product Certification System:

The ICC-ES product-certification system includes evaluating reports of tests of standard manufactured
product, prepared by accredited testing laboratories and provided by the listee, to verify compliance with
applicable codes and standards. The system also involves factory inspections, and assessment and
surveillance of the listee’s quality system.

Product: FORCEFIELD® FIREGUARD® E-84 INTUMESCENT COATING

Listee: SHIELD INDUSTRIES, INC.

Evaluation: ForceField® FireGuard® E-84 Intumescent Coating is a water-based liquid intumescent fire-retardant coating
that is applied by rolling, brushing, or spraying; and was evaluated when tested to the following standard:

 ASTM E84 (-16, -13A, -09, -07, and -04), Standard Test Method for Surface Burning Characteristics of
Building Materials, ASTM International.

Findings: ForceField® FireGuard® E-84 intumescent Coating, when applied to Southern Yellow Pine plywood and
oriented strand board (OSB) at coverage rates and film thicknesses detailed in Table 1 below, have a flame-
spread index and a smoke-developed index as specified in Table 1 below based on testing in accordance
with ASTM E84. The coating qualifies as a Class A finish in accordance with the applicable sections of the
International Building Code® and International Fire Code® as noted in the following code editions:

bearing the manufacturer’s name (Shield Industries, Inc.) and address, the product name, the date of
manufacture, shelf life, the manufacturer’s instructions for application, and the ICC-ES listing report
number (ESL-1423), and when applicable, the ICC-ES Listing Mark.

Installation: The product must be installed in accordance with the Shield Industries, Inc.’s published installation
instructions and applicable codes.
Conditions of listing:
1. The listing report addresses only conformance with the standard and code sections noted above.
2. Approval of the product’s use is the sole responsibility of the local code official.
3. The listing report applies only to the materials tested and as submitted for review by ICC-ES.
4. ForceField® FireGuard® E-84 Intumescent Coating is manufactured in under a quality control program
with inspections by ICC-ES.
