SYNTHRO®-STAB TF Series
Formaldehyde scavengers
Sources of Formaldehyde
Formaldehyde is often used as a cross linker in urea, phenol or melamine based thermosetting resins or as a biocide. The main
applications are :
These products release formaldehyde in the atmosphere and since legislations exist in more and more countries on the maximum
formaldehyde emission in public places, Synthro®-Stab TF formaldehyde scavengers attract a lot of interest from manufacturers of
the above mentioned materials.
Synthro®-Stab TF product line can help construction materials to meet the very low emission level or can act as real depolluting
material if introduced in construction material formulation or paint formulation.
Mechanism of Action Synthro®-Stab TF reacts with formaldehyde and forms an innocuous non volatile molecule .
Reaction starts immediately when molecules are in contact at room temperature.

Calculation example of estimated dosage of Synthro®-Stab TF 501 for a given lifetime of 12 years:
• The EN 16000 norm indicates a changing air rate of 0,50 h-1, which represent 300 µg/hour to be absorbed for this 30 m3 room
• 1g of Synthro®-Stab TF 501 absorbs 158 mg of CH2O Then, 33 180 mg CH2O will be absorbed by 210 g of TF 501.
• Ceiling and walls are painted with decorative paint applied at 150 g/m², therefore 6,3 kg of paint are needed to cover 42 m².
To guarantee 12 years absorption in the standard conditions, the dosage of Synthro®-Stab TF 501 is 3,3 % in the total paint
formulation .
Conclusion:
High efficiency and high durability formaldehyde scavenging
Over than 10-year track record in several industry fields (textile, paper, construction…) with a broad regulatory,
industry and analytical knowledge
