programmable by the user by means of internal microswitches or from
OPU-1 management system

- capable of operating at 1200 Bd in superimposed band and, in this way,

share the channel of the OPU-1 Universal Power-Line Carrier terminal with
speech frequencies up to 2000 Hz and with a DIMAT teleprotection

TD/103 LED Amber. Indicates data input
RD/104 LED Amber. Indicates data output.
RTS/105 LED Amber. Indicates request to transmit and lights up when the signal is in active state.
CTS/106 LED Amber. Indicates the modem is ready to transmit and lights up when the signal is in active state.
DSR/107 LED Amber. Indicates the modem is working correctly.
CD/109 LED Amber. Indicates the detection of line signals and lights up when the level of the carrier is above a

Tests
TEST LED Amber. The LED lights up when any kind of test is carried out in the modem (sending of signals or
loops).
LED AUX Amber. Should always be turned off. If it does light up, it must be made sure that microswitch 1 of the
MI2 is in the OFF position.

Alarm and loops

ALARM LED Red. The LED lights up when the level of the received signal falls below the nominal
level in 14 dB. It must be taken into account that there is an hysteresis of 3 dB.
DATA LOOP LED Amber. Lights up when a data loop is carried out.
LINE LOOP LED Amber. Lights up when a line loop is carried out.

XMT MEASUREMENT / Signal level in transmission. When the modem is transmitting, 12 Vpp should
test points be obtained in these points.
RCV MEASUREMENT / Signal level in reception. With coherent modulation percentages assigned in
test points transmission and reception, 0.5 Vpp should be obtained in these points.

11
INTERNAL ELEMENTS
MI2

The modem has an internal microswitch (MI2) which allows its transmission speed and central working
frequency to be programmed, as well as select the channel of the Power-Line Carrier terminal in which the
MI1 transmission will be carried out.

Jumper J4

This jumper makes it possible for two MFPU modems

to be used in the same analog channel of an Universal MI1
Power-Line Carrier terminal type OPU-1.

When one wishes to use two MFPU modems in the

same analog channel, one of them must be configured
as modem A and the other as modem B, carrying out
ON OFF
the necessary setting in jumper J4 (see Figure 14). MI2

PROGRAMMING

In order for the programming of the data transmission speed and central frequency of
the modem carried out from the OPU-1 Management System to be effective, the
microswitches 3 to 10 of MI2 must be in the OFF position. If they are not in the OFF
position, the modem will be programmed with the speed and frequency
corresponding to the position of the microswitches (see Table 5 and Table 6)
regardless of the programming carried out from the OPU-1 Management System.

It is not possible to retrieve the state of the microswitches of MI2 from the OPU-1
Management System.
