    What is National
    Security?
    National security encompasses every
    aspect of national life and nation-
    building. It has expanded, evolved and
    no longer exclusive to the traditional
    notions of internal and external
    defense.

    3 Major Pillars:
    1. Safeguarding the Philippines' National Unity,
    Democracy and it's Social Constitution.
    2. Ensuring the security of the state and
    preserving and protecting its sovereignty,
    territorial integrity, and institutions.
    3. Protection of properties, infrastructures and
    keeping the people safe from all forms of
    threats, here and abroad.

    National Security Vision
    National Security Policy (NSP) aims to transform and
    change for the better the Democratic, institution, society,
    agriculture, infrastructure, industrial outputs, rural
    economies, and military and police forces.
    This NSP establishes the Philippines' National Security goals
    and strategic objectives with primary focus on the political,
    economic, socio-cultural, technological, environmental,
    informational, diplomatic and military aspects, which are
    vital to nation-building.

    National Security Interest
    We, the sovereign Filipino people, imploring the aid of Almighty God, in order
    to build a just and humane society, and establish a Government that shall
    embody our ideals and aspirations, promote the common good, conserve Preamble,
    and develop our patrimony, and secure to ourselves and our posterity, the Constitution of
    blessings of independence and democracy under the rule of law and a the Philippines
    regime of truth, justice, freedom, love, equality, and peace, do ordain and
    promulgate this Constitution.

    people at the core; work for the regional peace and stability; pursue
    maritime security and cooperation; advance inclusive, innovation-led
    growth; strengthen ASEAN resiliency; and promote ASEAN as a model of

    concern and care for the helpless and the impoverished--- these are

    National Security Interests
    From the Preamble and the President's remarks, the government has identified
    eight National Security Interests that implify its concept of national security---
    1. Public Safety, Law and Order and Social Justice;
    2. Socio-political instability;
    3. Territorial integrity;
    4. Economic solidarity;
    5. Ecological balance;
    6. Cultural cohesiveness;
    7. Moral-spiritual consensus;
    8. International peace and cooperation.

    These interests serve as the Government's strategic focus and shall be accorded
    appropriate Government planning and resource allocation.

    cyclones.

    Needing in reformation in security and judicial sectors with emphasis of
    modernizing and professionalizing the armed services; strengthening the
    judicial system; strengthening legislative oversight on security agencies; and
    improving national security and intelligence community.

    The National Crisis Management
    Framework provides a comprehensive
    approach to understanding the
    components of a crisis or the 5Ps of
    crisis management: Predict, Prevent,
    Prepare, Perform and Post-Action and
    Assessment.
    The illustration shows the escalation of crisis—from convergence of indicators to
    the occurrence of an incident, critical incident and a full-blown crisis—and the
    interaction of the 5Ps of crisis management.
