Part-II- Critical Thinking Question

3. “Decision making is the process of making choices by identifying a decision,
gathering information, and assessing alternative resolutions.” Explain the
statement with example (Words 400-500)
(Marks 5)

 Step 1 starts with deciding on the decision you want to make When
You realize that you have to make a certain decision. Try to be clear about
what decisions need to be made. This first step is very important.
 Step 2 : finding relevant information to aid in decision
making Before making a decision, gather relevant information such
as what information you need, best sources of information, and how
to obtain it. This step includes both internal and external "work". Some
information is inside information. Seek information through the self-
assessment process. Other information is external. You can find it
online, in books, from other people, or from other sources.
 Step 3 : Identifying the alternatives of the decision.Collecting
information may identify some possible courses of action or
alternatives. You can also use your imagination and additional information
to build new choices. In this step, list all possible
and preferred alternatives.
 Step 4 : Weighing the options using the evidence gathered Imagine what
would happen if you used your information and emotions
to complete each option. Evaluate whether the needs identified in Step
1 are met or solved using each alternative. As you go through this
difficult internal process, you develop a preference for certain
alternatives, alternatives that you believe are more
likely to achieve your goals. Finally, prioritize alternatives based on your
own value system
 Step 5 : Determining the most suitable alternative . After weighing all the
evidence, you can choose the alternative that you think is the
best. You can also choose a combination of alternatives. Your choice
in step 5 is most likely the same or similar to the alternative you placed at
the top of the list at the end of step 4.After this step,a decision can then
be made by selecting the best alternative and implimenting it.
 Step 6 : Reviewing the selected dcision and analyzing the
consequencies .In this final step, consider the results of your decision and
evaluate whether it solved the need you identified in the first step . For
example, you may want to collect more detailed or slightly different
information or explore other alternatives if this alternative is not working.
