    LEVEL 2 – MONTH 1 – ACTIVITY PLANNER ACTIVITIES

    Activity - Pegs on a Bowl


    Materials required: Bowl and pegs
    Objective: To clip the pegs on the edges of the bowl. This helps to refine the pincer grip of the child.
    Activity procedure:
    • Place the pegs in a bowl and keep it in front of the child.
    • Take one peg, open it and clip it onto the container edge or lip
    • Clip all the pegs using the same procedure.
    • Unclip all the pegs and place them back in the bowl.
    • Tell the child, “You can continue the activity and place the material back once done.”
    • Let the child continue the activity as long as he or she wants to.

    Activity - Sensory Bags


    Materials required: 4 types of Grains or nuts, 4 pairs of socks and rubber bands
    Objective: To enhance the ability to identify objects based on touch alone and pair them.
    Introduction to stereognostic sense:
    stereognostic sense is your ability to identify an object without looking at it, smelling it, tasting it or
    hearing its sounds. When you can find your keys in the bottom of your bag: that's your stereognostic
    sense. It helps the child in material visualization.

    Preparation:
    1. Keep 4 different types of grains or nuts ready.
    2. Ensure that the grains or nuts are of different sizes.
    3. Place add sufficient amount of each type of grains in 2 socks each.
    4. Secure all the socks using rubber bands.

    Implementation:
    1. Place the socks in a random order, in front of the child.
    2. Touch a sock with your hands and place it aside.
    3. Find another sock with the same objects by touching it.
    4. Once you find it, pair the 2 socks.
    5. Follow the same procedure to pair the remaining socks.
    6. Place the socks in random order again.
    7. Tell the child, “Find and pair all the socks with the same objects”.
    8. Let the child continue the activity as long as she or he is interested.

    Note: Do not put any objects in the bag that are sharp, dangerous, or breakable.

    Activity - Sensory Tub


    Materials required: Big box, shape cut-outs - rhombus, kite, pentagon, hexagon, trapezium, old
    newspaper and scissors
    Objective: To find and identify geometric shapes.
    Preparation:
    1. Cut the old newspaper into long shreds
    2. Take a white or coloured chart paper and create cutouts of the following shapes:
    • Rhombus
    • Kite
    • Pentagon
    • Hexagon
    • Trapezium
    You can create cutouts of any geometric shapes - We have used these four for this
    activity.

    3. Place the cutouts and the paper shreds in the box and mix them. Ensure the shapes are not
    visible to the child.
    Implementation:
    1. Place the box in front of the child.
    2. Tell the child, “Find different shapes in this box and name them”.
    3. Let the child continue the activity and find different shapes and name them.
    4. After a few days, you can blindfold the child and ask him or her to find the shapes in the box
    and name them.

    Activity: Treasure Hunt


    Materials required:
    Paper - Coloured or White
    Pen or pencil
    An item that your child likes
    Objective: To find a hidden item using the clues presented. This helps the child to explore and
    discover.
    Procedure:
    1. Write clues on paper pieces and place them in specific locations around the house.
    2. Place the item that the child likes at the destination of the treasure hunt.
    3. Tell the child, “Follow the clues and find the treasure.”
    4. Assist the child only they ask for it.
    Note: This can also be played as a team sport.
