What is Housie?

Housie is a popular version of Bingo and Tambola which is played widely across India and other
South East Asian countries.

How do you play?

Each player must buy at least one ticket to enter the game. Each ticket is priced at INR 20/- .

Housie tickets have 3 horizontal rows and 9 vertical columns, which makes 27 boxes in total.
There are 5 numbers in each horizontal row, with the remaining 4 boxes randomly blocked out.
The first column has numbers from 1-9, the second from 10-19, and so on, up to the number 90.

The Housie Caller/Organizer (Shrota Hazra) will read out the numbers that are randomly drawn
to the audience.

The players cross the number off their ticket if they have it after each number is called out. If
you think that you have a winning point, you need to raise your hand and say ‘NowPurchase’
out loud quickly to make sure that you can claim the prize!

The winning point patterns are as follows:

First Row/Top Row: The FIRST person with all numbers struck in a top row wins. Prize Money
– Rs. 1000/- cash

Second Row/Middle Row: The FIRST person with all numbers struck in a middle row wins. .
Prize Money – Rs. 1000/- cash

Last Row/Bottom Row: The FIRST person with all numbers struck in a bottom row wins. .
Prize Money – Rs. 1000/- cash

Full House/First House: The ticket with ALL its numbers struck first wins. Prize Money – Rs.
2000/- cash

How do you claim your prize?

If a number called by Shrota exists on a player’s ticket, then the player has to strike it.
Once a particular winning point is achieved by a player, he/she has to claim it immediately by
raising their hand and saying ‘NowPurchase’ out loud.

Shrota will verify the winning ticket by matching the struck numbers on the ticket with the called-
out numbers.
She will then declare if the winning has been successfully claimed. If not, the winning point is
still available to be claimed.

The game ends when all the aforementioned Point Patterns and Full House are successfully
claimed.

pattern.

B) If it is found that a player claiming a specific pattern was false, then he/she shall be
served with a warning.
C) If the instance is repeated by the same player again, then his/her ticket will be
considered null and void, i.e. the ticket cannot play further.

equally distributed amongst the eligible players.

E) Everyone should be alert enough to claim their prize before the next number is called
