Housie - Know-How
Housie is a popular version of Bingo and Tambola which is played widely across India and other
South East Asian countries.
Housie tickets have 3 horizontal rows and 9 vertical columns, which makes 27 boxes in total.
There are 5 numbers in each horizontal row, with the remaining 4 boxes randomly blocked out.
The first column has numbers from 1-9, the second from 10-19, and so on, up to the number 90.
The Housie Caller/Organizer (Shrota Hazra) will read out the numbers that are randomly drawn
to the audience.
The players cross the number off their ticket if they have it after each number is called out. If
you think that you have a winning point, you need to raise your hand and say ‘NowPurchase’
out loud quickly to make sure that you can claim the prize!
First Row/Top Row: The FIRST person with all numbers struck in a top row wins. Prize Money
– Rs. 1000/- cash
Second Row/Middle Row: The FIRST person with all numbers struck in a middle row wins. .
Prize Money – Rs. 1000/- cash

Full House/First House: The ticket with ALL its numbers struck first wins. Prize Money – Rs.

Shrota will verify the winning ticket by matching the struck numbers on the ticket with the called-
out numbers.
She will then declare if the winning has been successfully claimed. If not, the winning point is
still available to be claimed.
The game ends when all the aforementioned Point Patterns and Full House are successfully
claimed.
A) If a player claims that he/she has won a particular point pattern, then Shrota will verify
his/her claim by matching his/her ticket with all the cues called out. If the winning
combination that you have claimed is correct, you will get the prize amount for that
pattern.
B) If it is found that a player claiming a specific pattern was false, then he/she shall be
served with a warning.
C) If the instance is repeated by the same player again, then his/her ticket will be
considered null and void, i.e. the ticket cannot play further.
D) If there is a tie for a particular cue for a particular point pattern, the prize amount will be
equally distributed amongst the eligible players.
E) Everyone should be alert enough to claim their prize before the next number is called
out. If they hesitate and the next number is called out, there will be no prize awarded and
the claim will be considered null and void.
Be sure to follow the rules as the decision of the organizer will be final.
