Not doing so could result in fines or arrest. Currently, there are very few restrictions in place,
and you can review the list on the Barcelona City Council website.

ARRIVAL INSTRUCTIONS
Plan to arrive at the Barcelona El Prat Airport (BCN) between 8am and 4pm on Tuesday, August 30th. Please complete the online
Travel Itinerary in your MyIESabroad portal if you have not already done so to provide our staff with your itinerary.
If you encounter difficulty at Border Control, please ask the officer to page Alexander Walker, IES Abroad Barcelona Dean of Faculty.
Alexander will be onsite at the Barcelona Airport between 8am and 5pm on August 30th and may be able to assist on your behalf.
Border Control officers may also call the Center Emergency Number to reach Alexander or another IES Barcelona staff member: 606-
460-919.
Your plane most likely will arrive at Terminal 1. After collecting your luggage, exit the Baggage Claim area to the right and there will
be IES Abroad staff members there to greet you next to a mechanical ramp that says "Taxi" (see image below), holding an IES Abroad
Barcelona sign and wearing IES Abroad shirts. If you arrive in Terminal 2, please look for the Inter-Terminal connection (Green Bus)
to take you to Terminal 1. Once in Terminal 1, follow the instructions above. If you can’t find the IES Abroad Barcelona staff at the
airport, please call the IES Abroad Barcelona Emergency Number: 606-460-919.
At the airport, the IES Abroad Barcelona staff will give you preliminary information and will help you get a taxi to take you to your
housing placement at your own expense. The airport is located seven miles outside of the city and the taxi ride will cost you
approximately €45-55. NOTE: All taxis accept credit card but make sure to have euros with you in case you have any issues with your
card. Tipping is appreciated but not required; for excellent service, an extra 1-2 Euros for a trip from the airport is sufficient.
Photo 1 - Signs and escalator leading to the taxi queue from Terminal Photo 2 - Official taxis are painted black and yellow and must have a
1 (to the right as you leave the Baggage Claim area) green light turned on to be hailed
You will find the IES Barcelona team as you exit customs, on the right, in the location depicted in Photo 1. There they will provide
you with additional information on how to get to your residence hall. They will also have a sign-up form that you will need to
complete.

schedule once you’ve arrived in Barcelona and spoken with the IES Abroad Barcelona staff.
STUDY JOURNEY
The IES Abroad Barcelona orientation includes a required, one-day study journey to Tarragona on Saturday, September 3rd. The
