INTRODUCTION/HISTORY:- (1)Linux Is created in the early 1990s by FINNISH SOFTWARE


ENGINEER LINUS TORVALDS & the FREE SOFTWARE FOUNDATION (FSF).
(2) It is initally released on September 17,1991.
(3) It is a family of free & open-sourse operating system based on LINUX KERNAL.

FEATURES:- (1) PORTABLE= portability means software can works on different types of
Hardware in same way.
(2) OPEN SOURSE=Linux source code is freely available & it is community based development
Project.
(3) MULTIUSER CAPABILITY=Multiple users can access the source system resources like
Memory, hard disk, etc.

RAM, CPU, etc.
2) KERNEL:-Kernel is the core component of Linux
os as it directly interact with the hardware.
3) SHELL:-shell is the interface which takes input
for users and sends instructions to kernel , Also
takes output from kernel and sends the result
back to output shell.
4) APPLICATIONS:-These are utility program which
runs on shell such as your web browser, media
player, text editor, etc.
