2.3.2 Door interlock connection

At the rear panel of the device, a connector is provided for the connection of a door interlock contact
to the device. As port a round plug has to be used which can be screwed, type (x)V 40 according to IEC

159199006_V02-26.March.2015-SM_MS-NeXT-PRO-EN.doc 8
60130-9, e.g. Lumberg WSV 40 (as delivered). (x): dependent on type, e.g. WS for an angled plug as
delivered.

Door interlock contact 5 VDC / 20 mA

Relay contact laser emission ( max. 24 V / 0,5 A )

By connecting the two connections remote door interlock contact and external door contact you can
prevent laser radiation from being emitted when the door of the laser room is opened.
This safety system serves to shut off the surgical beam automatically when the door is being opened
thus precluding any risk to the person entering.
The contact connector delivered is factory-fitted with a jumper. To connect a door interlock contact,
remove this jumper and connect your door interlock contact to the same terminals. The external
contact must be potential-free and designed for at least 24 VDC and 0.5 A. If a door-interlock contact is
not used, make sure to keep the plug with the factory-fitted jumper connected.

Important information
The contact plug may only be connected with the device being turned off and
disconnected from the power supply. Non-observance of this instruction can cause
damages of the device.
The contacts for the remote interlock and the foot switch must never be connected with
line power because otherwise the system will be seriously damaged. Connect these two
connectors only in the way described in this section.

Tip
If you have connected the door interlock contact with the entrance door, please check every
day before starting a treatment that the laser cannot be switched to the READY mode with this
door being open. In case of malfunction please inform the Technical Service.

An external voltage source for a low-voltage warning lamp can be switched via two further contacts of
this connector. The internally installed switching relay is designed for a maximum voltage of 24 VAC
and a maximum current of 1 A. Absolutely observe the following safety requirements for the
connection of an external warning lamp:

WARNING
To avoid the risk of an electric shock with consequential serious health problems as well
as fire hazard of the transformer, if you use an external transformer to power the lamp,
please note:
A safety transformer complying with IEC/EN61558-2-6 must be selected.

The internal relay of the device is closed, if the device is in the READY mode.
The prescribed laser warning lamp may, of course, also be turned on and off via a normal light switch if
the laser is operated.

2.3.3 Foot switch
Now, connect the foot switch to the foot switch connector provided at the rear panel of the device.
Make sure to insert the plug as deep as it will go. Then, lock it by turning the cap nut clockwise. The
foot switch should be positioned right next to the device.
To be able to activate the foot switch later, the cover must be pressed first so that it opens. Thus, the
real switch (black) can be accessed and can be activated by the foot to release the laser emission in
the READY mode.

159199006_V02-26.March.2015-SM_MS-NeXT-PRO-EN.doc 28
5.1.2 Date/Time
Date and time is used for the time lock management
and for error information. Date and time are
configured as GMT (+0). During service it is not
necessary to adjust date and time except the battery
is empty or the PCB is changed.
Note:
For correct working of the time lock management it
is recommended to adjust the time to GMT (+0), not
to local time of the installed area.
<SAVE> stores the adjusted date and time to RTC
(real time clock) of the ECD PCB. The time of the
master is synchronized to slave’s RTC time at every
device power on cycle.

5.1.3 Touch calibration

To activate touch calibration in service mode press and hold <Touch Cali> button for some seconds. A progress
bar is shown on top. If the calibration is started the procedure must be finished completely, there is no option to
abort it.
Press the cross precisely and carefully with a pointed taper object. Do not use sharp or spiky objects (like needles)
they can cause pin holes in the surface. Do not use your fingers for calibration because this will cause improper
results.

5.1.4 Error list

The main screen displays a history of all errors which rose up during use of the unit. Buttons at right side allow

159199006_V02-26.March.2015-SM_MS-NeXT-PRO-EN.doc 29
to display module specific errors and to reset the lists.
<Reset> Reset the current displayed error list.
Any module error list displayed can be reset separtely!
<Cooler> Displays errors related to the cooler. All errors are displayed with date and time when error rose
up.
<Diode> Displays errors they appeared during of the connected HP. List is stored inside HP including date
and time.
<TIP> Displays errors they appeared during us of the actual connected TIP (CXL, CXS, XLL or XLS). List is
stored in memory at TIP including date and time.

5.1.5 STD INI

The standard initialization is sub-divided into two
sections. For first time standard initialization of the
device execute the sections from top to down. In this
case order is important for correct initialization and
proper operating of the device.
The device type codification is shown at the factory
settings button (Device type XXX), the serial number
is shown as well. Both information (and much more
but not displayed) will be read from existing
errorless data at the system memory of the slave.
At first time standard initialization (e.g. ECD PCB
changing) the factory settings button is locked and
the serial number is empty. To unlock this button set
date and time before.

5.1.6 Factory settings

The master requests the device type from the slave
at every power on.
Define the device type first. Then select the installed
modules.
<Save> stores the selection into a memory
located at the ECD4-PCB.
<Cancel> returns to the standard
initialization screen without any changes.

Energy adjustment is only senseful on minor energy
deviation. On larger deviation >20% HP must back to
Asclepion LT for examination. Procedure would not
solve the energy issue at HP.
Energy calibration at XL HP is not possible in the
field. On deviating output energy you need to send
back HP to Asclepion for examination and
calibration.
