Part 1: Write a paragraph (within 200 words) about:

1. A kind of tourism you like most:
The tourism business in Vietnam has resumed operations following the COVID 19
outbreak and health tourism is the most worthwhile to experience in my opinion.
A renowned location of this kind is the Alma resort in Nha Trang. Alma Resort is
situated on Bai Dai-Cam Ranh, on a 30-hectare campus with over 600
accommodations, including villas and opulent apartments. All of these have views
of the ocean. Alma Resort Nha Trang is regarded as a family resort because, in
addition to offering private apartments and villas, it places a strong emphasis on
internal spaces that are appropriate for various subject matters and age groups.
Alma Resort focuses on investing in a variety of entertainment types both
outdoor and indoor such as a chain of 12 swimming pools, water sports area, mini
golf course, spa-gym system, chain of Asia- Europe restaurants, cinema... The
layout of the rooms at Alma Resort is ideal for gatherings of friends and family.
The smallest apartment size available is 71 square metres, and it comes fully
furnished. You can enjoy your stay here with a cost savings of up to 30%
compared to the market for just 2 million VND or more per night. Due to their
management department's extensive expertise, knowledge, and culture as well as
their personnel system, Alma has drawn both domestic and international tourists.
2. A job position you like most in tourism and hospitality industry:
With all of the advantages and attractions that being a tour guide offers, I get
really thrilled. So, what is a tour guide? A tour guide is someone who introduces,
informs, and explains topics connected to culture, history, ... relevant to tourist
destinations using proper language. It is the duty of tour guides to read up on the
itinerary they will be leading, the rest stops and specific activities that will be
included, as well as the geography, history, and culture of the country they will be
visiting. The tour guide is appropriate for those who enjoy learning, travel, have
professional skills, and have a profound awareness of many cultures. Health in
particular is a very significant element. The tour guide must also have effective
planning, communication, and time management abilities. Flexibility in handling
situations is a highly important quality as well, yet, at the same time. Tour guides
are allowed to select whether they want to work independently or for a tourist,
travel... The position of a tour guide also comes with a number of desirable
benefits in addition to a respectably high salary. such as the chance to travel
widely and learn many new things; flexible work schedules; and serving as an
ambassador for a specific company's tourism brand. I believe that working as a
tour guide is a career that is worthwhile.
3. A management style you think it is the best choice for a business in
tourism and hospitality industry:
Business owners, executives at all levels of management, and employees all have
an interest in the topic of governance. Is there a management approach that is
appropriate for the hotel industry? The top-down approach is ideal, in my
opinion. With the top-down approach, the administrator will study, draw
conclusions, begin at the summit, and initially set a target to meet. Find the root
of the issue after achieving this objective. The medium objective is then broken
down into numerous smaller goals, and finally the huge goal is separated into
smaller goals. The management will then create strategies, plans, and goals and
ask staff to put them into action. There are benefits and drawbacks to this
managerial strategy. Advantages: The departmental system's uniformity and
discipline are always optimal for ensuring that the administrator's objectives are
accomplished. However, there are instances when managers fail to maximise the
organization's human resources, accurately represent market laws, and are
frequently apathetic when it comes to modifying the organization's goals and
strategies. If major firms desire to employ this strategy, it should also be carefully
studied because it may work best for small, manageable businesses.
4. The external influences on tourism and hospitality industry:
The tourist and hospitality industries are impacted by five factors: political,
economic, environmental, technological, and social. First, political factors such as
deregulation, privatisation, or changes in national governments can have an
impact on the tourism and hospitality industries. The growth of new,
economically powerful nations like China, India, and others; the emergence of
new or evolving markets; and shifts in the fortunes of developed economies like
the United States are the second set of economic forces. The impact of
environmental elements, such as those related to global warming, pollution,
industrialisation, development, environmental concerns, and special interest or
beautiful locations, comes next. The fourth aspect is technological: new
communication technologies, including social networking sites or customised
booking services; new industrial materials (bigger planes). Last but not least,
societal factors: new trends in entertainment, food, clothing, sports, etc.; shifting
attitudes about, for instance, adventurous travel or group travel. In conclusion,
despite being impacted by a variety of circumstances, the hospitality and tourist
sectors are nevertheless vibrant and expanding.

5. The role of IT in successful tourism businesses:

Technological progress has revolutionized the way we think, act and even travel.
Successfully integrating technology across an operation makes it easier to run a
tourism business. IT can play a role in all business activities, both primary or
support and IT is defined as the tools that enable management. IT systems
support back- and front-of house systems. IT applications exist for all these
activities. In tourism, most of the primary activities are called front of house
because they are visible to the customer. Most support activities are called back
of house. The Internet is now a growing source of information and a tool for
booking. The resort is badly presented on its website and there are no links with
third parties. Management information systems to ensure the relevant staff
members have fast access to up-to-date information; Internet based marketing;
booking of tickets' accommodation via a website, etc. Advertising costs have not
been high marketing, IT because most advertising is done via the Internet. In
summary, the integrated system boosts the value of the hotel and tourism
industries while providing the travel operator with a number of benefits.

6. Sustainable tourism:
We often focus on the environment while discussing sustainable tourism.
However, in practice, sustainable tourism covers a lot more ground. A type of
tourism known as sustainable tourism involves planning activities that take into
account past, present, and future economic, social, and environmental effects.
The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) defines sustainable tourism as the
creation of tourism-related activities that "address the current demands of
tourists as well as the indigenous people protection and enhancement of natural
resources for the development of tourism activities in the future." The World
Tourism Organization states that sustainable tourism requires: maximizing the use
of environmental resources, maintaining crucial ecological processes, aiding in the
preservation of natural heritage and biodiversity, and respecting the cultural,
environmental, and human originality of the host community. It also calls for
preserving traditional values and cultural heritage while fostering intercultural
understanding and a sense of community. In a nutshell, sustainable tourism is a
long-term development process that creates developed, considerate, and
equitable tourism.

1. A successful tourism event:
Started in 2008, up to now, Danang International Fireworks Festival has always

feature with its very own brand of Da Nang city after ten years of operation.
Additionally, thanks to this festival, Da Nang has gained recognition from both

Han River. Every night, a large crowd gathers on the Han River's banks, the stands
are packed, and the bridges are close to the location of the fireworks display. The
audience experiences different feelings every time because this is a competition
amongst pyrotechnic teams from certified and experienced nations with a
foundation in artistic performance. It is a special piece of art rather than a
welcoming fireworks show.
The season of fireworks has long been regarded as a prosperous one for tourism
in Da Nang City because of its distinctive and distinctive characteristics. Even
though our city adds thousands of hotel rooms every year, the night of fireworks
is always filled. Statistics from the Da Nang City Department of Tourism show that
each time there are fireworks, more people visit this city than during the same
time previous year. For instance, the majority of the Han Riverside hotels in 2019
experienced 100% occupancy on launch night. Hotels in the city center and close
to the fireworks viewing area are likewise at or above 80% capacity, with a 20 to
40% increase in accommodation costs from weekdays. Da Nang, on the other

International Fireworks Festival's form and substance, which has helped it

Vietnam.
2. A successful hotel:
Everywhere in the world, including Vietnam, the hotel sector is expanding. As
more foreign visitors come to Vietnam, hotels also make their own strides
forward. The Ha Noi JW hotel is one of them.
JW Marriott Hanoi Hotel is one of the best 5-star hotels in Hanoi with

the needs of the staff first and outstanding management team.
3. A well-known tourist destination:
The S-shaped nation of Vietnam is home to numerous natural landscapes that are
popular with both domestic and international tourists. Vietnam's most well-
known location is Ha Long Bay, which is also a part of the world's cultural
heritage.
Ha Long Bay is one of the most diversified ecological populations in Vietnam, with
an area of up to 1,553 km2 and almost 2,000 different large and small islands, the
majority of which are limestone islands. Visitors can travel here by boat and enjoy
the splendor of the tens of thousands of rocky islands with a variety of shapes,
calm blue water, and varied greenery. All combine to create a singular Ha Long
Bay with lovely view full of poetry but also majestic and energetic. Titop island,
Sung Sot cave, Thien Cung cave, Dau Go cave, Me Cung cave, and Tien Ong cave
are only a few of the bay's well-known attractions. In particular, boat tours to the
bay pass by Trong Mai island, which gives an impression of Quang Ninh province
and Ha Long Bay in general.
A trip to Ha Long Bay has three primary expenses. The first cost associated with
visiting Ha Long Bay is the price of the government-issued ticket, which costs
between VND 240,000 and VND 290,000 per person for day tickets and between
VND 540,000 and VND 790,000 per person for overnight tickets. Second, the cost
of renting a boat to tour Ha Long Bay is the amount you pay the shipyard to take
you there; the cost of train tickets for visitors traveling along routes ranges from
150,000 to 200,000 VND. Last but not least, the price of meals on board a ship is
the price you must pay the shipyard to have meals prepared for you; the

to encourage guests to be proactive about their money, Ha Long Bay tickets can
be discounted by up to 50% for groups that include, for example, youngsters
between the ages of 7 and 16 and people who are 60 or older.
One may argue that everyone should visit Ha Long Bay at least once in their
lifetime. When you visit Ha Long, you'll be able to appreciate how nature
transformed hundreds of those silent, inert stone islets into sculptures as one of
the Creator's gorgeous and brilliant plastic works.

Part 3: Use SWOT analysis to write about current situation of (1)tourism

industry/ (2)hospitality industry in Vietnam. (about 400 words))
The answer should take the format of an essay which starts with an introductory
paragraph with a thesis statement (1 point) followed by at least 02 development
paragraphs which present the strengths (0.5 point), the opportunities (0.5
point); the weaknesses (0.5 point); and the threats (0.5 point) . Finish the
answer with a concluding paragraph. (1 point)
Students should be able to employ SWOT analysis (strengths  opportunities;
weaknesses-> threats) to present the current situation of tourism industry or
hospitality industry in Vietnam.
1. Tourism industry:
Vietnam's tourism industry has been valued by the Party and State for many
years, but because it developed in Vietnam much more slowly than other
developed tourism markets in the world and region, as well as in relation to many
other industries, the sector has both shown its strengths and weaknesses. As a
result, the information provided below will enable you to comprehend the
Vietnamese tourism business as it stands today.
First, the strength of Vietnam tourism, Nature has favored Vietnam with a tropical
monsoon climate, year-round greenery, several hills, and a lengthy coastline.
Additionally, Vietnam occupies a key strategic location in Southeast Asia and
throughout the world. Vietnam is a land with a 4000-year-old civilization and
many stunning scenery because to the country's favorable natural environment.
There have been 54 ethnic groups with distinct cultural identities in the nation for
a very long time. Vietnam has traditionally taken pride in its peacefulness,
friendliness, and political and security stability. Vietnam is also renowned for its
numerous priceless cultural legacies, including its traditional cuisine with a wide
range of flavors, several regional specialties, historical sites, artful architecture,
and archaeological artifacts. Both strengths and weaknesses coexist; despite
infrastructure upgrades and improvements, there is a lack of coordination
between areas, across tourist zones, and between destinations. Because of poor
governmental management, many tourist sites have not been fully utilized,
depleting tourism resources. The procedure of promoting tourism lacks
investment and is unprofessional. Another issue is the shortage of qualified
human resources; despite Vietnam's large population, the country's labor force is
of low quality.
Vietnam is rated as one of the best travel destinations by reputable tourism
organizations. Vietnam's economy is in the process of integration and
development; demand for eco-entertainment tourism is rising; the complicated
and unstable social security situation of countries with strong tourism activities.
These are the potential that Vietnam's tourist sector now possesses, but there are
also a lot of threats that Vietnam is facing with. Other nations in the area and
around the world are also impacted by the economic crisis, which also affects
Vietnam's tourism business. There aren't many foreign travelers who have come
to Vietnam with the intention of staying. The number of nations competing for
tourism is growing. As environmental contamination rises, aberrant illness
development is occurring. Human behavior and cultural awareness are not very
good. Particularly, there is a lack of appropriate attention from organizations
associated to the industry.
So, in order to fully capitalize on its potential and strengths, as well as to
overcome its weaknesses and threats related to tourism industry, Vietnam must
create precise goals, strategies, and plans for the development of its tourism
business.
2. Hospitality industry:
Vietnam's tourist sector has shown exceptional development rates in recent
years. Vietnam's tourism sector welcomes more than 14 million foreign tourists
annually on average. Leading firms are progressively making long-term
investments in Vietnam's hotel and restaurant tourist system, which is growing
quickly alongside the country's service sector. This has shown how the
Vietnamese hotel business has a lot of potential.
Tens of millions of tourists visit Vietnam each year due to the country's
abundance of customs, civilizations, and cuisines. An abundant source of
domestic and foreign tourists encourages the development of numerous services
for lodging, food, entertainment, etc. Numerous hotel segments were created in
order to accommodate the various needs of travelers as well as their varying
"budgets". Based on the target clientele that each hotel seeks to attract, hotels
are categorized into a wide range of star grades, architectural styles, amenities,
and other features. Despite these advantages, a severe human resource deficit
could affect Vietnam's hotel business. Tens of thousands of bachelor's degree
candidates are accepted by universities in Vietnam each year, yet only a third of
them exceed the standards set by the sector.
Customers now have higher standards of living and enjoyment than they did two
years ago before the Covid 19 pandemic hit, and they aren't scared to spend a lot
on travel. Vietnam has also extended its economy to outside nations, interacting
with numerous nations as a result, which has facilitated interchange and
cooperation in the hotel industry. Vietnam is growing its hotel industry to
accommodate all of its visitors' lodging and culinary needs, while also fostering
more competition and enhancing the standard of its services. Additionally, the
proliferation of technology and its link to online travel agencies make it simpler
and more common to reach customers. In addition to these chances, the hotel
sector in Vietnam is also threatened by things like financial struggles brought on
by diseases and natural catastrophes, competition in terms of both price and
quality between hotels,...
So, in order to fully capitalize on its potential and strengths, as well as to
overcome its weaknesses and threats related to the hospitality industry, Vietnam
must create precise goals, strategies, and plans for the development of its
hospitality business.
