FUEL SYSTEM

The main function of the fuel system

(fig.5) is :-
 to supply the metered quantity of fuel into the
engine at any power rating.
The fuel system consists of a :-
 low pressure fuel system,
 high-pressure fuel system,
 starting fuel system.
The low-pressure fuel system comprises : aircraft-mounted fuel
tanks 1, fuel booster pumps 2, fire-fighting fuel shut-off valve 3,
coarse fuel filter 4, fuel booster pump 5, fine fuel filter 6,
deaerator 7, fuel flowmeter 8, and connecting pipes.
The high-pressure fuel system comprises : main high-pressure
fuel pump 9, automatic fuel-flow controller 10, fuel manifold 14,
and main fuel burners 13 .
The starting fuel system includes : starting fuel solenoid valve 11,
two igniters 12, and connecting pipes.
fuel from the tanks is supplied by fuel booster pumps 2 under a
pressure of from 0.6 to 1.4 kg/cm2 to coarse fuel filter 4 and
thence to fuel booster pump 5. From pump 5 the fuel flows
under a pressure of from 2.5 to 3 kg/cm2 via fine fuel
filter 6, de aerator 7 and the transmitter of fuel flowmeter 8 to

into the combustion chamber in accordance with the engine
selected power rating and flight conditions. The metered
amount of fuel passes through the fuel manifold and is
discharged into the combustion chamber through main burners
. The starting burners are fed with fuel from fuel booster pump 5
through solenoid valve 11 put into action during starting of the
engine.
fuel Booster Pump
БНК-10И
 The fuel booster pump БНК-10И is low pressure fuel pump
of rotative type. The pump delivers fuel under a pressure
of 2,5-3 kg/cm2 to main fuel pump and to starting fuel
nozzles.

Main fuel pump-transmitter НД-24Т
 The main fuel pump-transmitter НД-24Т is a high pressure
fuel pump of plunger type with speed transmitter of
centrifugal type. The pump-transmitter delivers fuel
under high pressure to fuel metering unit АДТ-24Т-2 and
simultaneously measures the engine R.P.M. It comprises
two main units: plunger pump and the centrifugal speed
transmitter

Fuel metering unit АДТ-24Т-2
The АДТ-24Т-2 fuel metering unit in conjunction with main
fuel pump НД-24Т regulates automatically fuel delivery into
combustion chamber depending on the engine rating and
flight conditions.
