Removal Procedure
1. Support and raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
2. Remove the front wheel. Refer to Tyre and Wheel Removal and Installation .
3. Remove the split-pin (1) with a suitable tool from the front wheel drive shaft (2) and the front wheel
drive shaft fastener (3).
4. Install the CH-49376 holding wrench to the EN-956-1 extension.
5. Install the CH-49376 holding wrench to the front wheel hub and brake disc with 3 front wheel
fasteners.

6. Remove and DISCARD the front wheel drive shaft fastener (1) with a second mechanic and the front
wheel drive shaft washer (2) from the front wheel drive shaft (3).
7. Remove the 3 front wheel fasteners and the CH-49376 holding wrench from the front wheel hub and
brake disc.
8. Remove the front wheel speed sensor from the steering knuckle. Refer to Front Wheel Speed Sensor
Replacement .
9. Remove steering linkage outer track rod from the steering knuckle. Refer to Steering Linkage Outer
Track rod Replacement .

10. Using the CH-49400 remover (2), separate the brake rotor and wheel bearing/hub assembly (1).
11. Remove the front wheel drive shaft from the wheel bearing/hub.
12. Remove the front brake rotor. Refer to Front Brake Disc Replacement .
13. Remove the lower control arm ball joint from the steering knuckle. Refer to Lower Control Arm
Replacement .

14. Remove and DISCARD the steering knuckle fastener (1) from the steering knuckle (2).

15. With a second mechanic remove the steering knuckle (4) in component with the front wheel bearing
and hub from the front strut (3), lower control arm (1) and front wheel drive shaft (2).
16. Remove the front brake shield. Refer to Front Brake Disc Replacement .

17. Press out the wheel hub (2) with the CH-500-5 remover (1).

18. Remove the bearing cup (1) from the wheel hub (2) with CH-500-1 remover (3).

19. Remove the circlip (1) with a suitable tool from the steering knuckle (2) and the wheel bearing (3).

20. Remove the wheel bearing from the steering knuckle (2) with the hydraulic press.
• Support the steering knuckle with suitable tools into a straight position. See picture.
• Press out the wheel bearing with CH-500-2 remover (3).
Installation Procedure

1. Press the NEW wheel bearing with CH-49108-3 installer and the hydraulic press into the steering
knuckle.

Note: The NEW circlip (2) is to be installed in such a way that the bore for the front wheel speed
sensor (1) remains free.
2. Install the NEW circlip (3) with a suitable tool to the steering knuckle (3).
3. Install the front brake shield. Refer to Front Brake Disc Replacement .

4. Install the wheel hub (1) to the wheel bearing (3) with the hydraulic press.
• Support the wheel bearing inner ring with CH-500-3 installer (4).
• Press in the wheel hub with CH-500-5 installer (2) to the wheel bearing.

5. With a second mechanic, install the steering knuckle (4) in component with the front wheel bearing
and hub to the front wheel drive-shaft (2), front strut (3) and lower control arm (1).

6. Fix the steering knuckle with the 2 NEW fasteners (1) to the front strut (2).
7. Install the lower control arm ball joint from the steering knuckle. Refer to Lower Control Arm
Replacement .
8. Install the 2 NEW steering knuckle nuts and tighten a first pass to 90 N·m (66 lb ft) .
9. Tighten the 2 NEW steering knuckle nuts a final pass to an additional 60 - 75 degrees , using the EN-
45059 meter .
10. Install the steering linkage outer track rod to the steering knuckle. Refer to Steering Linkage Outer
Track rod Replacement .
11. Install the front wheel speed sensor to the steering knuckle. Refer to Front Wheel Speed Sensor
Replacement .
12. Install the front brake rotor.
13. Install the CH-49736 holding wrench to the front wheel hub and brake disc with 3 front wheel
fasteners.

14. Install the front wheel drive-shaft washer (2) and the front wheel drive-shaft fastener (1) to the front
wheel drive shaft (3).

Note: The notch of the crown fastener must be in line with the hole of the front wheel drive shaft for
the installation of the split-pin.
15. With a second mechanic tighten the NEW front wheel drive shaft nut (1) a first pass to
130 N·m (96 lb ft) .
16. In a second pass loosen the NEW front wheel drive shaft nut.
17. Tighten the NEW front wheel drive shaft nut a third pass to 20 N·m (15 lb ft) .
18. Tighten the NEW front wheel drive shaft nut a final pass to an additional 80 degrees , using the EN-
45059 meter .
19. Remove the 3 front wheel fasteners and the CH-49376 holding wrench from the front wheel hub and
brake disc.
20. Install the split-pin to the front wheel drive shaft and bend the splint-pin apart.
21. Install the front wheel. Refer to Tyre and Wheel Removal and Installation .
22. Lower the vehicle.
