29 Essential Spanish Dating

Chunks You’ll Need to Talk

With the Love of Your Life
(and the In-Laws)
¡Bienvenidos! Welcome! We're so happy you're learning Spanish with us!

In this cheat sheet, you'll find a list of 29 essential chunks that each Spanish student
who’s dating (or plans on dating) a Spanish native speaker should imprint on their
brain.

As you absorb and memorize them, you'll notice that fluent sentences start rolling
off your tongue when you’re speaking Spanish.

You'll feel you're worrying less about grammar... and can focus more on the joy of
speaking a foreign language and warmer connections with your conversation
partner.

How did we create this list of essential chunks?

Every month, the whole Spring Spanish team spends hours and hours and tens of
thousands of dollars researching, scripting, shooting, editing and publishing
Spanish video lessons for you to watch on the Spring Spanish YouTube channel.

These 29 chunks are distilled from some of our best YouTube videos on dating in
Spanish. They form an easy reference library. However, it’s still worth it to watch our
full videos as well. We recommend you start with our “Dating playlist” on YouTube,
which you can watch by clicking here.

How to use this cheat sheet

Sadly, a list of chunks is just that... a list of chunks... until you actually work with it,
memorize the chunks, and use them in conversations.

Here’s how we recommend you do that.

Step 1: Go over the list of chunks and example sentences below

After the introduction, you’ll find a list of chunks, each with a full example sentence.
For example:

Spanish English

Me encantaría verte de nuevo. ¿Qué I'd love to see you again. What do
opinas? you think?

While going through the list and reading the example sentences, try to imagine
yourself in a conversation, using these chunks.

Say them out loud to yourself. See yourself introducing yourself in a conversation…
talking about your hobbies… asking interesting questions… without having to think
about grammar!

Step 2: Imprint the chunks on your brain

After your initial review of the chunks in the list, you now have to memorize them, so
your brain has them readily available when you’re in an actual conversation.

To make sure they actually roll off the tongue in full sentences while speaking, we
suggest you memorize them by creating flashcards that look like this:

FRONT:

Me encantaría ___________ (see you again). ¿Qué opinas?

BACK:

Me encantaría verte de nuevo. ¿Qué opinas?

I’d love to see you again. What do you think?

That way, you learn chunks within the context of a real-life sentence, which makes it
much easier… well… to use them in full sentences as well in real life!

So create physical flashcards like this, or use your favorite flashcard app that helps
you to easily memorize and review them.

Step 3: Go out and use the chunks in conversations with native

speakers

Finally... go out and use the chunks in your daily life. This cheat sheet (and our
YouTube videos) are a great wto prepare!

Shortcut: use our pre-made flashcard decks and Spanish speaking rooms!

We've made flashcards with audio in the Brainscape flashcard app for all
sentences and chunks. We’re happy to make them available to you as a gift if you
try out our Spring Spanish Inner Circle.

In the Inner Circle, you also get flashcards like this with audio for all our other
YouTube videos. That’s 175 videos and counting, and thousands of flashcards
with chunks you can memorize!

On top of that, you can also join our Spanish Speaking Rooms to practice your
speaking skills with Spanish teachers and fellow students :)

Do you think you can use these chunks in conversations already?

If you think you could use some more help with that: say no more!

As mentioned before, the best way to commit these chunks to memory, so they’re
readily available to you in conversations, is by putting them on flashcards in the
context of a sentence, and learning and reviewing them like that.

© Spring Languages - 2021 8

The Brainscape platform allows you to do just that. We’ve been using it in our paid
courses with thousands of students already.

And that’s why we’ve also created a flashcard deck for all these chunks, and asked
one of our Spanish teachers to record audio for every single flashcard.

We decided to give away these flashcards as a gift to everyone who takes a

no-obligation trial to our Spring Spanish Inner Circle: a community for all
Spanish students who love learning with the Spring Spanish videos and want to
practice their Spanish skills!

In the Inner Circle, you get a flashcard deck (and a pdf transcript) for every single
lesson we publish.

It’s the best way to not just passively watch our videos, but actively practice your
listening comprehension with the transcript… and actively commit the most
important chunks to memory so you can use them in conversations.

These flashcards aren’t available anywhere else; our regular YouTube subscribers
can’t access them… Only members of the Inner Circle benefit from them.

On top of that, Inner Circle members get access to our “Spanish speaking rooms”,
where they practice speaking Spanish with teachers and fellow students, use the
chunks you've memorized and feel how they roll off the tongue in fluent Spanish
sentences!

There are more benefits, like deciding together with us which topics we make
videos about, and exclusive live classes with our Spring Spanish teachers.
