V. COURSE DESCRIPTION : This course deals with multi-dimensional
aspects of a patient oriented pharmacy
practice a an integral component of health
care in terms of drug use control vis-à-vis
rational drug therapy, drug monitoring,
detection and prevention of adverse drug
reactions/ drug interactions, drug distribution
systems institutionalized setting or other
clinical setting and drug information
services, with the end view of providing
patient with optimum pharmaceutical care.
VI. COURSE OBJECTIVES : At the end of the course, the student will be
able to:
1. provide knowledge and develop basic
skills necessary to contribute to the
identification, evaluation and solution of
drug therapy problems in practice;
2. develop the skill in the clinical appraisal
of information in the solution of drug
therapy problems in practice;
3. expose students to situations that will
require their participation in the patient
care process;
4. provide experience in integrating and
applying pharmaceutical, biomedical and
clinical knowledge to patient care;
5. apply interpersonal skills relevant to
clinical pharmacy practice.
