• Decide the width of the flounce. Add 5/8" (1.5 cm) for seam
allowance and 3/8" (1 cm) for hem. The finished length of the
strip is determined by the fullness of the gathers. (For loose Right side
gathers cut double length of finished length, for tight gathers
cut 3 times the finished length). Cut strips for flounce.

• Cut strips for flounce. Sew the strips together, end to end.
(The seam can be straight or on the bias).Select center needle
position straight stitch. Snap on presser foot A. Sew. Right side

• Snap on 5 mm Narrow Hem Foot. Select straight stitch, length


2.5 to 3. Press a double hem at the beginning, to get it
started, the width of the tunnel on the underside of the foot. Right side

• Place fabric under the presser foot, wrong side up, and stitch a
few stitches in the beginning. Stop with the needle in the
fabric, raise the presser foot and pull the fabric edge up into Right side
the scroll/guide on the foot. Sew.

• Select left needle position straight stitch. 3.0 to 6.0. (The


longer stitch, the more the fabric will gather). Snap on
Gathering Foot.Place the flounce under the presser foot right Right side
side up and fabric piece in the groove of the foot right side
down.Sew.

• Finish the edge with a 4-thread overlock or a three step zig


zag stitch. Press lightly from the right side.

Tips:

1. Use a three-thread rolled edge on Huskylock with embroidery


thread in the upper looper.(For a wavy edge - cut the strip on the bias
and pull it in front of the presser foot as you sew). 2. Sew a Scallop Right side
stitch along the edge. Use embroidery thread on top and in the
bobbin. Cut the excess fabric outside the seam. (Requires 1 ¼" - 1
5/8" (3-4 cm) for seam allowance depending on the depth of the
selected scallop stitch)3. Use 6 or 12 mm Bias Binder to bias bind the Wrong side
edge.
