1. The contestant is a bonafide pupil/student/teacher of the participating school and shall present a
Certificate of Enrolment /Contestant’s Gallery duly signed by the School Head/Principal.
2. Each Private Elementary, Junior and Senior High School in the Division of Camarines Sur shall send
one (1) contestant from Grade 1 to 12.
For Senior High School, contestants are either Grade 11 or 12 students.
one (1) contestant for each learning area of Core subjects
one ( 1) contestant for each selected Contextualized/Applied Subjects
one (1) contestant per specialized subject per strand (STEM, ABM, HUMSS).
3. The learning areas are the following:

6. Brain Quest Contests will start at exactly 9:00 am in their respective schools and shall be done
simultaneously in all grade levels.
7. Each participant should bring his/her own device such as laptop and /or Ipad or cellphones .Each device
will be checked by the proctors before the start of the contest.
8. The participating schools must prepare one (1) testing room equipped with STABLE INTERNET
CONNECTION and MUST follow the Minimum Health Protocols prescribed by the IATF.
9. Each contestant will be given a link to access the Quipper Learning Management System. The contestant
MUST have an active email address, (preferable domain)
10. Vaccinated learners are preferred contestants.
11. Official OPSCSI IDs will be given upon registration.
12. A registration fee of Php 100 .00 will be collected from each participant to defray operation expenses.
13. Each participating school should submit the Registration Form, Certificate of Enrolment /Contestant’s
Gallery on or before January 20, 2023.
14. The participants must be in complete school uniform and must wear the OPSCSI ID.
15. Proctors will be in nearby participating school in order to assure that participants are ready in the contest
venue before the time.
16. Elementary, Junior High School and Senior High School BRAINQUEST will be conducted in their
respective school to be assisted and facilitated by the assigned proctors.
17. Each Testing Center must conduct a simple or short opening program before the start of the contest.
Meals of the proctors will also be prepared/ served by the testing center.
18. The subject matters (topics) in the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs) of DepEd
Curriculum Guide , specifically from the 1st Quarter to 3rd Quarter shall be the Coverage of the
brainquest .
19. Quipper LMS shall be used to administer the exams. Student-contestants shall be given an
LMS account and password during the Coaches’ Orientation briefing scheduled on _____(TBA), to
familiarize on the use of the LMS through a virtual tour and a practice test.

20. For the best experience of Zoom and Quipper it is advantageous to run them in a Web Browser using a
personal computer (laptop or desktop).

GUIDELINES:
1. All contestants should be officially enrolled students of the school within the district they represent.
2. There will be elimination per district of the different events to be contested in the LITMUS. Winning
contestants will represent the district in the LITMUS contest during the OPSCSI 15 th Private Schools
Day.
3. There should be one entry per district.
4. Mechanics for each event should be strictly followed.

5. Representative per district shall draw lots for their number that will be used by all their contestants in all
events throughout the competition.
6. All participants in the LITMUS shall be registered and shall wear the OPSCSI ID during the
competition.
7. Each school shall submit to the Litmus Coordinator the CDs for the accompaniment of their entries and
are responsible to test 30 minutes before the start of the competition. CDs must be properly labeled
according to Entry Number, Event, and Song/Music Number. Failure to submit CDs on time would
mean 1 point deduction from the total score of the contestant.
8. Participants can use the assigned room for preparation and change of costumes.
9. Extemporaneous speakers shall wear business attire with OPSCSI ID.
10. The decision of the Board of Judges is final and irrevocable.
PRESCHOOL
1. POEM RECITATION
Mechanics:
Contestant may be a boy or a girl

Contest piece is free choice, must be in English and is appropriate to the age

Mechanics:
The dance piece should have been printed and circularized and common in the Philippine setting.
There should be four pairs of dancers ( 4 boys and 4 girls)
Costume must be appropriate to the dance.
Execution is from 4-6 minutes excluding the entrance and exit.
Recorded music or string instruments may be used.
Violations of any of the mechanics will be subject for a 1 point deduction from the total score.

7. Rendition must be 3 to 5 minutes.

2. EXTEMPORANEOUS SPEECH
Mechanics:
1. There will be 1 representative per district

3. He/she will be given 3 minutes preparation and 3-5 minutes delivery
4. An assigned timer will show to the contestant a flash card labeled “START". After 3 minutes, another
card will be shown labeled “2 minutes more” then finally, “STOP” after 5 minutes is consumed.
5. 1 point deduction for every exceeding minute
6. Topic is related to the theme and has the same degree of difficulty for all the contestants.
7. List of at least 10-15 topics should be given to the contestants 30 minutes before the start of the contest.
8. Contestant must use English language throughout the delivery. The use of other language (Filipino and
Bikol) will be deducted from the total score depending on the number of times committed.
9. Violations of any of the mechanics will be subject for a 1 point deduction from the total score.

3. DANCE DRAMA
4. Each participant is free to use foreign or original Pilipino music (OPM) of any genre such as, pop,
ballad, etc. This is to provide each entry with more artistic freedom in conceptualizing its entry.
5. Narration is strictly not allowed. This competition is designed for each entry to tell a story revolving
around the theme through dancing.
6. The performance shall not exceed seven (7) minutes but not less than 5 minutes, this includes the
actual performance, entrance and exit of dancers, setting of props (if any) and the like.
4. JAZZ CHANT
Mechanics:
1. The contest piece is free of choice.
2. The attire must be suited to the piece.
3. There should be 15-20 members from any grade level.
4. The time limit is 5-7 minutes execution excluding entrance and exit.
5. There will be 1 point deduction for every exceeding minute.
6. Violations of any of the mechanics will be subject for a 1 point deduction from the total score.

5. ACOUSTIC BAND
MECHANICS
1. Each group will perform to any music as long as there are no obscene, lewd or
green words in the lyrics. (note: too much amplification of instruments that
will obscure or over power the volume of the vocals is not allowed).
2. Each group will perform their choice of music with a time limit of 4 minutes.
Beyond this limit, a total of five (5) points will be deducted from the group’s
total score.
3. Each group will have a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 members.
4. The members of the group may be composed of all males or females, or any
combination of both.
5. The use of pyrotechnic gadgets, smoke or combustible materials as props are
NOT allowed.
6. Medley arrangement of songs is NOT allowed.

5. Writing materials shall be provided by the committee
6. Contestants will be given 1 hour to write the essay
7. The essay should consist of at least 300-500 words
8. Violations of any of the mechanics will be subject for a 1 point deduction from the total score.

9. ORATORICAL
Mechanics:
The contest is open to Senior High school students only.
There will be one contestant per district
The contestant must be in business attire
Piece must be based on the given theme
Delivery should be 5-7 minutes only
Piece should be written in English. Insertion of Bikol or Tagalog is allowed for emphasis of ideas.
Piece should be turned over to the Board of Judges 30 minutes before the start of the contest for judging.
Violations of any of the mechanics will be subject for a 1 point deduction from the total score.

RESEARCH PRESENTATION
Guidelines:
1. The contestants should be bona fide senior high school students of the school they are
representing, composed of at least three (3) members but not than more than five (5) members.
However, only one to two (1-2) researcher/s must present the paper during the contest.
2. Three copies of the research paper must be submitted to the panelists one (1) hour before the oral
presentation.
3. The contestants are expected to dress appropriately. School uniforms are NOT allowed.
4. Each research will be presented in 10 minutes only and must be supported with powerpoint
presentation. Question and Answer part will be allotted with another 5 minutes . For a total of 15
minutes.
5. Powerpoint slides must be limited to 12 slides only following the format below:
