Study Plan

My name is Shoniwa Simbarashe Calvin and I am from Zimbabwe. I completed my

Bachelor’s degree in International Economics and Trade from Beibu Gulf university and
have passed with flying colors. Diligence and dedication was my motto during my
bachelor’s studies. As you can see from my enclosed application, along with my
transcript, I am committed to excellence and have the educational background and
academic skills necessary to succeed as a student at your university. By deciding to
accept me into this year’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) program, you will
be deciding to bring in a student who is passionate to learn and is eager to make a
difference in the community we live in and the world at large, by using the knowledge
acquired in and out of the class room. After graduation, I plan to start up a business that
will mainly incorporate my country and China in its functions as I believe the Chinese to
have a high work ethic. I believe that my education background in International Trade &
Economics and my familiarity with the Chinese culture would make me competent to get
that platform here in China to showcase my ideas and plan. Ultimately it is my hope that
one day my own company would go global and help create jobs for people in need of
opportunities, hence leaving my footprints in the sands of time.
Why I chose to study MBA
I choose to study MBA because it allows me to first and foremost exploit all the areas of
management and earn transferable skills. In addition to that it enhances my strategic
thinking, Earning a master’s of business administration degree, I believe is valuable to
my career in a variety of ways. Besides providing job stability and enabling me to
increase my earning potential, it also allows me to improve my professional and
entrepreneurial skills. MBA will help grow my perspective of the world. In addition to
this after studying MBA I will acquire transferable skills that can help benefit society and
the environments we live and work in. One of the obvious benefits of attaining this MBA
degree is the ability to expand my professional network especially studying it at an
international institution. As a business minded person, I can enjoy the satisfaction of
pursuing a career path that is not only the result of years of hard work, training and
secondary education, but built on my sense of creativity, leadership skills, and passion for
the business industry. Additionally, the jobs I will create and business tasks complete will
undoubtedly bring me a sense of pride and accomplishment. As a person who appreciates
a sense of independence and thrives in roles where initiative is key, a position in MBA
can offer me a great deal of autonomy. I am also an entrepreneurial individual who is
self-sufficient, naturally driven and able to multitask thus, this career path is something I
will appreciate it’s demands of. Having a masters of business administration will not only
secure me a high-paying position and job stability but also enables me to expand my
knowledge and expertise in the business industry. Through on-the-job undertakings and
the challenges that different financial sectors present, I will learn invaluable career
experiences that will allow me to become an efficient problem solver as I lead
organizations – and ultimately transform the world we live in.
Why I chose to study in China
The world is now a global village and China seems to be on the center of it. China is a
beautiful and fast-growing country with a wide variety of cities and cultures, beautiful
architecture and an intriguing way of life. For one, China has one of the fastest growing
economics in the world as in need of qualified professionals with degrees. The
educational institutions available for international students in China are of very high
reputation and prestige. In recent years China has poured a lot of money in their
educational system, and has begun to provide many full scholarships for college students.
Chinese universities are renowned for their excellence in science, technology engineering
and math. Recently, Chinese schools have been ranked some of the best in the world for
business, science and math. There are several great colleges in China, with each province
having their share of great colleges. China is home to excellent universities, beautiful
natural sights, and great entertainment for inbound students. International students in
China truly have an extraordinary educational experience and have the opportunity to
take in life in a foreign nation. The cities in China offer some of the best hobbies and
activities around. The shopping, entertainment and food in the big cities like Beijing and
Shanghai are world class. There is also a number of exciting activities available to
students including skiing, golfing, fishing, lake activities like water skiing boating and
kayaking. Chinese cuisine is quite delicious and I am excited to taste plenty of great fare.
Studying in China is a great opportunity, that will secure a bright future ahead.
Detailed Study Plan
First Year (2022/2023)
On my first year, I am planning to give my full attention to learning and
understanding all my classes about Masters in Business Administration. Though it sounds
cliché I believe graduate school truly does require a different kind of thinking than what
most undergraduate classes required. So, I am prepared to think through problems and
puzzles in new ways, and come up with my own research questions to tackle. My classes
will likely be heavier on reading, writing, and open discussion but lighter on the
traditional lecture style that I experienced in undergraduate classes. This change might
feel unnerving at first because it is more challenging to think this way. But I am prepared
to grow by overcoming new challenges. An important lesson I have learned throughout
my undergraduate program and one that I am planning to live by is that, it is okay to ask
for help. So, if I am confused by something in my seminars or if I become unsure of how
to complete a task that my advisor needs me to finish, I am prepared to ask for
clarification than to trek on blindly and make mistakes as a result of my confusion. I
believe, older graduate students and my cohort members are great resources, not only for
help on those seemingly “dumb” questions I may have but also for overall support. A
graduate program is a collaborative experience, and I will not be successful (nor happy!)
if I keep my head down because I am too embarrassed to ask necessary questions and
seek out help.
Second Year (2023/2024)
I would like to start working on my research. My goal is to make a contribution to a
positive change in the world so I believe by pursuing MBA it will not only show me
some of the most pressing problems that need to be solved in the business and trade
sector, but it will also provide me with the tools to collaborate to solve these problems. I
believe that learning this major, besides fulfilling my desire for leadership and
entrepreneurship,it can also be intellectually rewarding, as it challenges the ability to
problem-solve on a daily basis as business never stops. Furthermore, it utilizes a great
deal of creativity and thinking out of the box, which I find very gratifying on a personal
and professional level. Another big change that I am prepared for on my second year is
that, my studies and research will probably take up more time than they ever have. Even
though I have been somebody who spent ample time studying during my undergraduate
degree, the work in graduate school is often more intensive and more time-consuming. I
know that I will be expected to dedicate a lot more time to my degree than ever before,
and this expectation comes with the challenge of time management. Just as the transition
from high school to college was a lesson in structuring my time, I know that the transition
from college to graduate school requires me to be able to organize my schedule
independently and discipline myself to stick to it. I have a great faith and belief in myself
that I will be able to go through the necessary changes in order to get my masters degree.I
believe there is no other perfect place for me to accomplish my dreams than via your
institution as it highly recognized not only in the province but in the country at large
hence this application.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review my application. I look forward to the
opportunity to study at your university.

Sincerely
Shoniwa Simbarashe Calvin
