IB Case study (Session 1,2,3) – IB & Globalization

Case: OYO: A New Global Chain of Hotels Emerges.

This case is about the core issues related to choosing market for global growth by
an emerging multinational company. The case focuses on issues related to global
strategy, Industry disruption, innovation through technology and role of strategic
business decisions in mitigating risks associated with cross boarder operations.
Please discuss the Case among your group members and come up with answers
for the 3 Questions given below. All the groups should go through the case and
come prepared with the answers in written or PPT form for all the 3 questions
and submit the same to me before 9 AM on Monday 16th January 2023. Every
group will be asked to present answer to at least one question during the session
on next Monday. CR’s can coordinate with different groups and send me the
consolidated mail.

Case analysis questions:


Q1. Analyze the Market and competitive scenario in India when OYO
launched operations in the country. Why did its value proposition resonate
with buyers? How did OYO’s business model created value in the hotel
industry in India?
Q2. How effective OYO company has been in countries like Malaysia, China,
Indonesia, UAE, and Saudi Arabia? What common lessons emerge from
these initial entries?
Q3. What potential challenges OYO company will encounter in developed
countries like USA, UK and Japan? As per the analysis of your group, what
OYO should do to overcome those challenges?
