Subject: Flu-like Illness

The local Health board is anticipating that the number of people contracting influenza will reach record
highs this winter. The medical center, in cooperation with nursing students from Arondale university,
will be offering free flu shorts next week, please call extension 5378 for an appointment.
As a safety precaution, we are asking employees with flu-like symptoms to practice self-isolation. This
means staying away from work and limiting interactions with other people for at least 24 hours after
fever symptoms have subsided.

We encourage hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette of people who are well and also those that have
any flu-like symptoms. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water. Cover your nose and mouth
with tissue when coughing or sneezing. If no tissue is available, use a shirt sleeve or elbow. Small bottles
of hand sanitizer are available in the medical center free of charge.

Below is a chart describing how symptoms are manifested in a cold or flu virus.
