C. MOTIVATION Task I: Think Of!

 The teacher will flash the words in the PowerPoint


presentation, each student is given 2 minutes to come up with
an answer and ask the following questions.

1. What can you say about the words Genre, Text, and Context?
2. Give an example of the words given. (HOTS)

D. LESSON PROPER Task II: Let us discuss!

Genre-based Approach.

 is an approach that uses text as a means of learning language


(Emilia, 2011)
 involves the mastery of different text types as a
communicative competence (Richard, 2006)

- the details that form the setting for an event, statement, or idea
Genre
- types of text

- topic or social action that is taking place

- the participants, their status and roles

- what part of language is playing, channel of communication
Principles in GBA
1. Teachers develop students’ awareness to the text.
2. Language learning is a social activity.
3. Explicit teaching
4. Apprenticeship
5. Teaching grammar is an essential part.

F. APPLICATION Task III: Joint Construction!

 The students are divided into groups and are asked to write a
text about the topic in the form of text types that have been
studied.
 Teachers observe the class and ask some questions related to
their progress.
 Each group should consult their draft to the teacher several
times, and teachers give feedback.

G. ASSESSMENT INDIVIDUAL TASK


 Teachers and students publish the text in various forms. Select
group members will be asked to respond by giving comments
on the other group’s works.
