Host 2 And I am Alexander, so for today’s show we will be talking about Slide 2
the different creative writing techniques.
H1 All of our guests today will be tackling seven creative writing Slide 3
techniques that will be useful for anyone that's writing.
H2 How about we meet our first three guests for tonight. Christian Slide 4
Natada is a news writer working for the Philippine Inquirer, Jan
Deanne Tayong is a known author who wrote iconic Filipino
Fiction, Lorraine Tagle is a graduate from the University of the
Philippines with the Degree of Creative Writing and is currently a
professor in UST.
H1 Hello Christian I heard you write articles for the Philippine Slide 6
Inquirer, what is your best advice for newbie writers since your
job is very inspiring
Guest 1 Well I would say keep on believing yourself that you can do so Slide 6
many things and never settle for less.
H2 Thank you! Now for the second question: what writing technique Slide 6
can you give to our lovely audience today?
Guest 1 As a bookworm I really like to read books and there are some Slide 7
books that make me feel I’m part of it. That's why the first
technique is considering the reader’s mindset towards
whatever your writing.
Guest 1 Because the readers are the most critical aspect. Your writing Slide 7
style can affect the visionary outlook of the readers on your
works. So always remember to make it clear and also a bit
entertaining so they would not get bored.
H2 Thank you Christian how about you Jan you are known as an Slide 8
iconic author. What inspires you to write these stories?
Guest 2 I would say I’m inspired by my own experiences growing up and Slide 8
how I wish my life was. I also read classic novels that become
an inspiration towards my works. I pay homage to them as well.
Guest 2 Lets not always restrict ourselves in a box when writing. One Slide 9
author has all the freedom in the world that they can write
whatever they want. But always remember not to make it vulgar.
A person can jump around whenever they write. They always
say the world is an oyster. Like the game dungeons and
dragons, anything is possible.
H2 Thank you Jan, now let’s head over our third guest today, Hello Slide 10
Professor Lorraine! I am so thrilled that you visited us today?
What is the best part of becoming a professor in creative
writing?
Guest 3 Well I would say that it is really fun teaching students and Slide 10
encouraging them to write more to express themselves.
H1 Very well said Ms. Lorraine, now what creative writing technique Slide 10
would you give to our lovely viewers?
Guest 3 I have two techniques that I would like to share with the viewers. Slide 11
First is, Editing is important in achieving a well written work.
Revising and re-reading is an efficient way to check every detail
whether you have misspelt such a thing. Just think of that you
are writing a thesis paper.
H2 Thank you Prof! I would like to ask what is the second technique Slide 11
you would like to share with us.
Guest 3 Well I would say let another person read your work before you Slide 12
turn it towards the mainstream. Find an Editor for that person
can look over to whatever you are working on and to also
double check whether you had errors.
H1 Thank you Miss Lorraine! Before we introduce our last two Slide 13
guests here is a word from our sponsors. Let’s take a short
coffee break first, aspiring writers!
H2 Welcome back to Writers In Demand now let us introduce our Slide 15-Slide 16
last two guests. They are both a duo known for writing
telenovelas and movies. They have worked in different channels
and won a lot of awards. Here is Alliah Pantia and Shane
Bancual.
Guest 5 Thank you and thank you for having us in your show! Slide 17
Guest 4 I guess our ideas are always in sync. We like similar things so Slide 18
it's easy for us to get along whenever we write our scripts. It is
important that someone is looking out for you in the
entertainment industry.
Guest 5 I would say that since we are best friends, we kind of mix Slide 19
professional and unprofessional life together which makes it fun.
We do not feel tension between us. There is also no hierarchy
between us.
H2 That is really great! Very useful mindset when working in the Slide 19
entertainment industry! Anyways, now what creative writing
techniques would you give to our lovely viewers?
Guest 5 For me I would say that it's okay to have fun when writing. Make Slide 21
puns in the conversations of the characters so there's a way for
the viewers to get entertained. Make it fun with puns.
Guest 4 Lastly, give your writing a K.I.S.S, keep it short and simple. Slide 22
This way it is less complicated for the viewers to understand
your work. It also makes it more feasible to turn to a major
production but if you are more inclined in novels, it will be less of
a drag to read.
H1 Thank you Alliah and Shane. I guess it is time to end our show! Slide 23
Once again I am Jaexer Gambot
