PROGRAMME : DDT
ASSESSMENT : PRACTICAL TASK 2 – DHCP SERVER
CLO : CLO1: Construct tasks related to networking features
and functionalities of Windows Server in enterprise
network (P4, PLO3)
DURATION : 3 HOURS
MARKS : 100 MARKS

Activity Outcomes:
By the end of this hands-on session, you should be able to:
 Show step to install DHCP roles and able to configure DHCP scope for IPv4 on Windows Server
2019

Prerequisites:

To complete these tasks, students need to have a Windows Server 2019 and Windows 10 Enterprise
Client installed.

BACKGROUND:

Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a client/server protocol that automatically provides
an Internet Protocol (IP) host with its IP address and other related configuration information such as
the subnet mask and default gateway.
Windows Server 2019 includes DHCP Server, which is an optional networking server role that you
can deploy on your network to lease IP addresses and other information to DHCP clients. All
Windows-based client operating systems include the DHCP client as part of TCP/IP, and DHCP
client is enabled by default.

OBJECTIVE:

• To add roles and features for a DHCP Server

• To configure IPv4.
• To verify DHCP functionality on Windows 10 client.

REQUIREMENT TOOLS:

 Personal Computer or any device with at least dual-core Intel i5 or i7 CPU (Or AMD) and
Virtualization Support.
 At least 8GB FREE memory (16GB or 32GB is best) on the host operating system.
 VMWare / VirtualBox application as a platform to running Windows Server 2019.

Set the following information for the scope:
Scope name: IPv4_ Your Name
IP Range: 192.168.10.100 – 192.168.10.200
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Exclude: 192.168.10.190 – 192.168.10.200
Lease time: 7 days
Gateway: 192.168.10.1
DNS Server: 192.168.10.99

are the addresses within the scope and the addresses excluded from the scope. Your answer
must also include the lease duration from the scope properties.

Step 3: Configure client for DHCP

a) Set a Client 1 to obtain IP address automatically for IPv4

b) Make a reservation for Client 2 accordingly.

c) On DHCP server, verify the Client 1 have successfully obtained address from DHCP
Your answer should include the address leased from DHCP and the same address viewed
from client.
