MODULE 5 ACTIVITY
BSBAHRM 2-3D Living in the I.T Era

Essay: Read the statement/s carefully. Answer the given statement/s concisely.
1. Discuss how digital technology change society in the area of:
a. Business
- When applied correctly, digital transformation increases a company's productivity and
profitability. Processes can be accelerated by technology, and it can also offer new customer-
reach avenues and facilitate simpler market adaptation. In addition, businesses benefit from
increased operational efficiency brought about by digitalization, which enables automation. The
demand for human resources is reduced, which leads to fewer human mistakes and lower
operating expenses. Also, ICT has a tremendous influence on the corporate world. It significantly
lowers the obstacles to launching a business by enabling individuals to instantly exchange
information and advice and put up an online store or website for a minimal cost. ICT maturity and
economic growth are therefore tightly related.
b. Job
Routine chores may be automated because of technology, which leads to fewer and less
fulfilling middle-skill jobs. In contrast, it enhances social and innovative tasks by producing more
interesting low- and high-skill jobs. Polarization results from this, "hollowing out" demand for
middle-skill workers and raising wage inequality. With certain occupations being replaced by a
combination of technology and more trained people or perhaps totally automated, the digital
transformation has the potential to significantly alter the structure of the labor market. In addition,
digitization creates chances for employment in both new and established industries, with
increased job-to-job mobility. Internet job search tools promote mobility. For many people, the
digital economy also fundamentally alters the nature of work, with fewer desk occupations putting
physical demands on employees and more employment putting an emotional load on them. There
are also more openings for ICT and other positions.
c. Health
The introduction of new risks to physical and mental health as well as its effects on the
delivery of healthcare can all have an impact on how well individuals are doing. Health hazards
linked to digital transformations include mental health issues brought on by excessive use of
technology, particularly among children and teens, and the displacement of other activities like
physical activity. New digital technologies, like telecare, teleconsultation, and electronic records,
have an impact on how healthcare is delivered. Producing and utilizing medical data to enhance
the efficacy and efficiency of health systems is a crucial component of digitalization. However,
today's digital technology has made it incredibly simple for patients and healthcare professionals
to communicate. Healthcare professionals can communicate by email, cellphones, text
messaging, and other means. Patients no longer need to receive letters in the mail from doctors
informing them of their appointments and testing.
d. Lifestyle
Almost every aspect of modern life is impacted by technology, including productivity,
socializing, food and healthcare availability, and transportation efficiency and safety. The power
of the internet has facilitated the emergence of international communities and made it easier to
exchange information and resources. Technology-based materials can be used to do our daily
tasks. With the little robotic system, we may complete our daily tasks and home duties. Modern
technology can also be used for transportation, shopping, food delivery, and healthcare. By
facilitating speedier communication and transportation, enabling simple location changes,
facilitating quick activities, and easing interactions, it has made life simple and comfortable. But
because of this it made the human lazy and always rely on technology.
e. Entertainment
The entertainment industry is continually changing because of the introduction of new
technology. The way we watch and listen to television and radio has been dramatically
transformed by digital transmission. We are entertained by the stuff that we see on Facebook,
YouTube, and Instagram. Cinema can now be accessible at the convenience of your house with
applications like Netflix, Vivamax, Disney+, etc. Graphics technology has also been greatly
influenced by computer gaming interfaces. The evolution of music creation and distribution has
been led by technology. We can now listen to music and podcast via Spotify. These are just a few
of the numerous entertainment-related technologies that have emerged in the digital age. Now,
you may enjoy films, games, and music anywhere and whenever you want. Today, content
creators may produce and share any kind of media material. Therefore, because it has an impact
on leisure and entertainment activities, digital technology has revolutionized both content
generation and consumption.
f. Education
In today’s generation Knowledge and education are no longer tied to the classroom.
Information is everywhere in the world in which we live. Not only are books plentiful, but
technological advancements have also made books, music, photos, and movies accessible
online. We no longer go to the library to search about our assignments and thesis. We just type
and search on the internet. Digital technology has also a significant influence on educators at all
levels, including teachers, trainers, students, researchers, and policymakers. By improving
everyone's access to information, it is altering the way that education is delivered across the
world. Additionally, it guarantees inclusive and effective education. The idea of open learning,
which emphasizes increased student access and the growth of student autonomy, is supported
by ICT. It has made it possible for teachers to communicate with students, parents, and other
students more effectively and efficiently. Furthermore, technology has made it possible for
teachers to deliver more dynamic and interesting classes that better fit the requirements of
learners.
2. Differentiate Technological Determinism and Social Constructivism. Elaborate and
give concrete examples.
The idea that technology alone dictates the path of history is known as technological
determinism. While, according to social constructivism, historical events are shaped by how
individuals interact with their surroundings. According to the thesis of technological determinism,
a society's culture, values, and social structures are all profoundly influenced by technology. The
type of technology that civilization has is the primary factor in its advancement. Social
advancement is the result of technological innovation. The influence of technology extends to
society, as well as to human behavior, culture, and values. Human cognition and behavior are
strongly influenced by technology. In other words, technology is causing social change. For
instance, consider the development of firearms. Swords and archers were once utilized as
weapons, and warriors had to be proficient and trained in their usage. But everything was altered
by a recent technological advance. A gun that takes less effort and can be fired even at a distance
was created. The way troops are trained has been altered by technology. Additionally, it altered
how soldiers engage in combat. Social constructivism, on the other hand, is the opposite of
technological determinism. It contends that people, rather than technology, are primarily
responsible for influencing technology. It holds that rather than technology dictating what people
do, people really change technology. We develop these technologies because we are curious,
we want to learn more, and we want to get things done quickly. For example, cooperative learning
exercises like group problem-solving, group inquiry, simulations, discussions, and investigations
can generate invention or innovation ideas.
3. Describe the process of technological change. How technological evolution takes
place?
The technical knowledge employed in the creation of capital and machines is referred to
as technological change. The productivity of labor, capital, and other production components
increase because of numerous technological developments. Technological advancement
includes the development of new skills, methods of manufacturing, applications for raw resources,
and the widespread use of technology. A difference between earned and unspoken knowledge is
made when technological advancements progress through invention, creativity, imitation, and
learning. The first step is the expansion of scientific knowledge, the second is the use of this
information for practical reasons, and the third is the innovation that comes from the
commercialization of invention. This is very important for the development process. Innovation
and invention have different definitions according to Schumpeter. Innovation is the practical use
of invention in manufacturing for the market, whereas invention entails the discovery of new
technology. You may refer to it as commercialization that results from scientific development.
While innovation is an economic truth, invention is a scientific fact.
