Social dance is categorized into two major types mainly Latin American dances and Modern Standard dances. Latin American dances comes from Latin-American countries and salsa, mambo, rumba, jive are some of its example. Modern Standard dances originated in European countries and slow waltz, tango and foxtrot are some of its example. b. What is meant by Social dance? Different from a typical form of dance, social dances focuses more on participation rather than performance. Though sometimes, it may comes in a form of competition and ceremonial, its main purpose is for socializing and entertainment. c. How are Latin American Dances different from Modern Standard Dances? Social dance is divided into two major category namely Latin American Dances and Modern Standard Dances. These two are different in costumes and also nature of movements. Latin American performers usually wears somewhat revealing yet sophisticated costumes and moves freely while Modern Standard performers wears formal costumes and is restricted in movement. d. What makes social dances and dance mixers the same yet different with other genre of dances? Social dances and dance mixers are just like any other genres of dances but it comes with a twist. They are both composed of movements that requires uniformity and creativity just like other dances. But the thing that makes both social dance and dance mixers different is their main purposes which are to socialize and to entertain. e. How do you think can social dances and dance mixers help in enhancing your fitness through dance? Dancing can definitely enhance our physical attribute and different types of dance means different ways of improving your fitness. As for Social dance and dance mixers, it enhances our physical strength, stamina and also brings many health benefits. Since most of social dances and dance mixers comes in partners, dancing to these genre can boost your physical strength and stamina. f. Do you think Social dance improve well-being? Yes, any form of dances can improve our well-being. Social dancing can promote improvement in physical, mental, and social aspect. Improving your well-being means enhancing your different aspects in life and social dancing can be of a great help. g. Aside from development of one’s fitness, what else can social dance can be helpful to the community? Social dancing can make a whole community more socially stable. It can promote the community’s over all environment that is very essential to the growth of the people. h. Do you think Social dance belong to intensity exercise? Social dance belong to moderate intensity exercise. Dancing to this type of dance can make you sweat and experience a fast heart beat that is helpful for cardiovascular health. i. What dance you like most? The type of dance that I like the most is folk dance. It is because the movements are bot that hard to memorize and execute. Usually, it not require a talent and skills in dancing, which unfortunately I don’t have. j. What makes you dance? Dancing is part of our life. What makes me dance? Usually, I dance because I’m feeling happy and if I like the music.
