hard work, and self-development efforts. This paper aims to discuss the concepts and theories of
leadership, types and styles of leadership, business ethics and their application to leadership, and the
author's own views on leadership. The paper will also compare two distinct leadership styles and
examine how the author perceives themselves as a leader and what makes them an effective leader.
Leadership is a process of influencing others to achieve a common goal. Various theories have been
developed to explain the concept of leadership, including the trait theory, behavioral theory, situational
theory, transformational theory, and servant leadership theory. The trait theory suggests that certain
characteristics make an individual an effective leader.
Leadership types can be categorized into autocratic, democratic, and laissez-faire leadership styles.
Autocratic leadership is characterized by a leader who makes decisions without consulting their team
members. Democratic leadership involves team participation in decision-making processes, and laissez-
faire leadership allows team members to make decisions independently. Effective team leadership
involves creating a cohesive team, providing direction, and empowering team members to achieve their
objectives.
Business ethics are the moral principles and values that guide decision-making processes in
organizations. Ethical leadership involves demonstrating integrity, respect, and honesty towards all
stakeholders, including employees, customers, and shareholders. Leaders should act in the best
interests of their organization while adhering to ethical principles.

The author's view of leadership is that a leader should be someone who inspires and empowers others
to achieve their full potential. A transformational leadership style aligns with this view, as it emphasizes
the leader's ability to inspire and motivate their team members. In comparison, an autocratic leadership
style contradicts the author's view, as it can create a negative work environment, reduce employee
motivation and lead to high turnover rates.
