Downloading and Accessing the Zephyr-Sim Flight Simulator
Part 1: Downloading the Software
1) Go to the Zephyr Sim Shop (https://zephyr-sim.com/shop), locate the Zephyr Free option on the left of the screen and select Add to Cart.
2) Click on your Cart and Checkout.
3) After verifying that Zephyr Free is in your cart, click Continue to Info. Click No Thanks if you are asked to add additional items into your cart.
4) Select No Thanks, for any additional promotions that pop-up.
5) On the Contact Information, enter your contact information, and select Continue to Payment. Be sure to enter a valid email at this step.
6) You should see that no payment is required since the item in your cart (Zephyr Free) is free. Click Purchase.
7) Enter your personal information (First Name, Last Name, …) to create a Zephyr Account, and agree to the terms and conditions. Click Continue. Be sure to write down your email and password in a safe place, as you will need them to log into the flight simulator software. Part 2: Accessing the Simulator
8) Once your order is complete, click View Details, click Get Zephyr at the top of your screen to download the necessary files to install the flight simulator software on your computer. Alternatively, download those files from here.
9) Install the flight simulator software on your computer. Open the program (Little Arms Launcher) on your computer once it is installed. 10) In the application home screen, make sure that Zephyr is selected on the left, and click Launch (the program may need to perform some updates before you can move on to the next step).
11) Enter your Email and Password from Step 7 to enter the program.
12) Optional, but highly recommended: Once logged in, click on Controller, and select Mobile Controller. Click Download Android or Download iOS to get directions for installing the
Zephyr Mobile Controller App on your phone. This will allow you to pair your phone to your computer via your wifi network, and turn your phone in a controller that can be used to pilot the drone in the simulator. Follow the directions in the App on your phone to complete the setup. Once that is completed, click Connect Mobile Controller on your computer (if necessary), and ensure that code on your computer screen matches what is shown in the controller App on your phone. Click on the triangle to the right of the code on your phone to enter the controller.
13) Return to the main menu of the Zephyr program on your computer by clicking the back arrow (←), and select Scenario.
14) Select the Tutorial scenario, and click Load Scenario.
15) You should now see the first lesson in the Tutorial. You can follow the directions by using your phone as a controller if you completed step 12, OR you can use your keyboard and the keys shown on the screen to control the drone.
Complete the lessons in the tutorial until you have at least reached the lesson on yaw and roll (see screenshot below). Submit a screenshot of the beginning of the yaw and roll lesson (see below) with the complete title bar (bar at the top showing the battery level, altitude, …) (which is intentionally partly cut off in the screenshot below) and email to your instructor for extra credit.
