show love in the screen, by clicking the heart reaction. “

“Today, we will be having such an amazing topic, but first I want to

assure that all of you are energized!”

Let’s sing along to this energetic song, and let us try to copy his actions
because this song is also about…our class rules!”

“Are you ready?”

The pupils participated actively

“Did you have fun?” All: Yes, Teacher!

“Me, too!”

“I also have additional rules.”

“Please take note of some important details I will mention during

discussion.”

“Always answer in a complete sentence.”

Make sure your cameras are on and if you want to recite, raise your
hands properly.”

“Once I call your name, you can unmute your microphone then speak.”

Are we clear with the instructions? Splendid!

All: Yes, Teacher Gab!
B. Review

Do you still remember the previous topic you had in English?

All: Yes, teacher.
Now to test how well did you understand our topic, let’s have an
activity…

Do a “happy face and thumbs up” if the construction of the sentence is

correct. While, a “sad face and thumbs down” if it is constructed
incorrectly.

I will be cook our meal this evening. (Incorrect)

They will joining the car race near your place. (Incorrect)

We shall be dancing with joy. (Correct)

The environmentalists will cleaning the river tomorrow. (Incorrect)

You will be participating in the Spelling Bee. (Correct)

C. Motivation

I will ask you questions about the pictures that is flashed on the screen.
All of you can participate and answer on the chat box.” Are you
ready?”
All: Yes, we are!

Allow me to answer the first example:

“How much do you enjoy teaching?”

Teacher Gab enjoys teaching very much.

Now its your turn…

“How often do you exercise?”
I usually exercise four times a week.
I exercise every day.
“How excited are you and your friends for the face-to-face class?”
Jaden: My friends and I are very excited for the
face-to-face class.
Giel: My friends and I are a little excited for
the face-to-face class.
“How often do you read books?”
Anicka: I often read books.
Miguel: I seldom read books.

“How well do you sing?” Ashley: I sing very well.

Zigfrid: I sing well enough.

“Very good, Class! Thank you for participating”

Now, my question for the class is… what did you notice with the
words teacher wrote down? Apholo: They describe how many times we do
something.
Dariane: They make our statement clear.

“Correct! These are examples of words we often use to modify”

D. Presentation

“My dear pupils, just by completing the statement, you are already
making use of our topic for today, which is about… adverbs.”

“Do you know what ‘Adverbs’ are?”

Claylee: We’re quite not sure, Teacher.
An adverb is a word that modifies or describes a verb, (He sings
loudly), an adjective (very tall), or another adverb (ended too
quickly), or even a whole sentence (Fortunately, I had brought an
umbrella).

There are six (6) types of adverbs, namely:

Adverbs of Time
Adverbs of Place
Adverbs of Frequency
Adverbs of Manner
Adverbs of Degree
Adverbs of Affirmation

But for today, we will focus on two types of adverbs.

“Can you guess what are they?”

Clue, the first type of adverb tells how “often” something occurs or
did occur. Tityra: Is it adverb of frequency, Ma’am?

“Yes, you are correct! Good job!”

Next, the second type of adverb talks about the degree of it. It helps us
to express 'how much' we do something.
Alexis: Ma’am, I think it’s adverb of intensity.
“Very good, you’re right!”

“Now, let’s begin, shall we?”

“Adverb of Frequency”
- An adverb of frequency is used to express time or how
often something occurs/takes place.

There are two kinds of Adverbs of Frequency:

- Adverb of Definite Frequency
- Adverb of Indefinite Frequency

Adverb of Definite Frequency

It describes the exact frequency of something happening or an action
taking place.

Examples:
I go to school thrice a week. (How many times is that? It means three
times a week.)

Gerald visits Genaro every Friday.

(in a month, how many times does Gerald visits Genaro? He visits his
cousin 4 times a month.)
Now using the chat box, can the class give me examples of “Adverb of
Definite Frequency”?
Reem: She goes to school three times a week.
Jaden: He trains his dog every morning.
“Thank you so much, class!”

Adverb of Indefinite Frequency

While, on the other hand, adverb of indefinite frequency doesn’t
describe the exact frequency of something happening or an action
taking place.
So, what are these words?
There is also an equivalent percentage as to how often certain thing
happens.

Let’s use them in sentences:

Penny always finishes her work at 5 o’clock.

I normally walk home from school.
We frequently submit our outputs through Gmail.
They seldom eat junk food.
Ashley was never late for class.

Now, it’s your turn to give examples. Who would like to try?

Donna: She usually enjoys with her friends

every holiday.

Dariane: Jeri often jogs around the park.

Anicka: I sometimes talk to the chef.

Kyle: Tim occasionally hosts the Valentine

party dinner.

Armand: The lady rarely visits the shopping

center.
“Very good, grade 5! You are all fantastic!”
“Do you have any questions and clarifications?
All: None at all, Teacher Gab.

“Shall we proceed?”
All: Yes, Teacher, we shall.

Now, let’s talk about the…

Adverb of Degree/ Intensity
- It helps us to express the intensity of a verb or the extent to
which something happens.

These are example words of Adverbs of Degree.

This may be classified as strong, medium, or weak. For instance:

Do you see the difference?

Example:

We watched a totally exciting film. (strong)

However, my friend said it was fairly interesting. (medium)
While, as for Mica, she said it was a bit boring. (weak)

Now, its your turn to give an example…

Kyros: He made his parents very proud when
he graduated with honors.

Ashley: I am pretty sure that she will attend

our conference.

Kian: The bell just rang.

Kyle: He made his parents very proud when he

graduated with honors.

Keith: The work is almost done.

Miguel: Kyle is not at all worried about losing

his online game because he can again
download it.

“Are we clear, class?”

All: Surely, teacher!

E. Application
Now to test if you really understood our topic, let’s have an activity.

Instructions: Identify what kind of adverb is used in each sentence.

Show this sign language “letter I” if the sentence

used an adverb of intensity.

While, show this sign doing “letter F” if the

sentence made use of an adverb of frequency.

1. Sammuel never passes his homework incomplete. (F)

2. Kian normally cries when he is upset. (F)

3. That funny moment is extremely unforgettable. (I)

4. Marise sometimes talks to Yair. (F)

The pupils participated actively.
5. The Grade 5- Amiable pupils created an absolutely amazing music

video. (I)

6. The participants are quite busy. (I)

7. He trains his dog every morning. (F)

8. She sang well enough. (I)

9. Sophia visits her friend every noon. (F)

10. I am pretty sure that he will attend our conference. (I)

F. Generalization

Do you have any questions?

All: We have no questions, teacher.

What was your favorite part of our lesson?

Kian: My favorite part is when we get to put on
our silly faces during the activity part.
What did you learn today?
Gerald: I learned that words such as adverbs
gives our sentences a better description and
that it makes our messages conveyed clearly.
Why are adverbs important?
Samantha: With the adverbs we have
discussed, they help us visualize an action with
an appropriate level in terms of how often or
how extreme.

“Correct! Keep in mind class that adverbs are imperative for it helps to
describe how things appear and how things happen. This helps us
picture what and how things are done.”

“Also, through the use of adverbs, we are able to express ourselves

better by giving out clear descriptions of what we feel or what we’re
trying to say.”

IV. Evaluation

Directions: Compose a sentence using appropriate adverbs of frequency and intensity with the images
below.
V. Assignment

Directions: Explain in the vlog what you usually do every day and make sure to use adverbs of frequency and
adverbs of intensity at least 2-4 times each.

You can be as creative as you can!
