Welcome to the Music 7 Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM) Module on Music and
Music Performances from Mindanao.

The hand is one of the most symbolized part of the human body. It is often used

and musical elements of the music and music performances from Mindanao.
After going through this module, you are expected to evaluate music and
music performances using rubrics on musical elements and style (MU7LV-IIIb-h-
10).

Specifically, you will be able to:

1. describe the musical elements and features of the music and music
performances;

2. evaluate music and music performances from Mindanao using rubrics;


and,

3. explain the importance of giving unbiased judgments.

Instructions: Choose at least one music (vocal or instrumental/ Islamic or Non-
Islamic) of Mindanao.
Why did you choose that song? Is it because you like its melody, rhythm, or
tempo?
Yes! A song to sing or music to listen to is chosen based on the elements,
the expression, and the style that music has.
Music is nothing without the presence of the musical elements and styles.
Musical elements and styles play a vital role in performing music.
So, in this lesson you will undergo music and music performance
evaluation. The Rubrics on the elements of music will be your guide to evaluate
and assess certain musical performances.
Now, consider yourself as a judge.

What is It

Now, let us check and analyze some of the music and music performances
of Mindanao.

Musical Performance- the act of presentation in musical ideas or


compositions.

Examples of musical performances are:

●Solo singing ● Playing solo instrument

●Choral singing ● Playing the Rondalla

In order to evaluate one musical performance, the terms of musical


elements used in the rubrics should be familiarized.

The basic elements of music are rhythm/ tempo, dynamics, melody,


harmony and timbre.

 Rhythm– refers to the timing of the sound.

Is the duration of the note to be sounded being followed


accurately?

 Dynamics – refers to the loudness and softness of sound.

Is the sound loud or soft? Is the emotion expressed in the song?

 Melody – a part of the music that is sung or played.


Was it high, low or just in the right pitch?

 Harmony – the accurate blending of sounds.

Do the different pitched notes that are sounded together blend


perfectly?

 Timbre – refers to the quality of sound.

Is the quality of the voice clear? Is it easy to identify the prescribed


sound quality?

2. Evaluate your own musical performance using the rubrics on Page 8.
3. Submit it to your teacher through any online platforms or save it in a flash
drive.
