BACHELOR OF

ACCOUNTANCY WITH HONOURS

Bachelor of Accountancy with Honours

PROGRAMME INFORMATION
The SIT Accountancy programme is a three-year direct honours programme, which will hone
students’ critical and analytical skills, and provide them with the requisite knowledge needed
for a professional accounting career. Students will go through rigorous academic training and
immerse themselves in the accounting and finance industry through the Integrated Work
Study Programme (IWSP) with established accounting firms such as Deloitte, Ernst and Young
(EY), KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
The Accountancy programme aims to groom students to be both practice-oriented and
industry-ready. Over the course of the programme, students will be given the opportunity to
take up modules such as Business Valuation and Analysis, and be able to focus on an area of
interest in their final trimester.
In addition, SIT’s unique curriculum includes the Regional Exposure to Accounting Practice
(REAP) programme, which will expose students to the cultural, economic and social nuances in
the Asia-Pacific region.

PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS
Accounting Financial Modelling: This module takes students to a more advanced level from
the basic spreadsheet skills for better decision-making in the real world of business. It will enable
them to build financial models for various purposes, ranging from business proposals to
evaluating business opportunities.
Business Capstone Project: Through the use of online simulation, students will read and observe
business situations, and actively interpret and make decisions based on established business
principles. This process of simulation, reflection and experiential learning seeks to enhance
capabilities in critical analysis, problem-solving, decision-making and creative thinking.

INTEGRATED WORK STUDY PROGRAMME (IWSP)

IWSP provides students with the opportunity to gain industry experience, integrate theory
and practice, as well as develop deep specialist skills in their chosen field.
The Accountancy IWSP will be held over two trimesters (approximately eight months) with
close monitoring by academic faculty. Students will be able to experience at least one peak
audit cycle with an accounting firm.

REGIONAL EXPOSURE TO ACCOUNTING PRACTICE (REAP)

Building on its appeal as an attractive location for businesses, Singapore aims to be a global
accountancy hub for Asia-Pacific by 2020. The Accountancy programme thus includes the
Regional Exposure to Accounting Practice (REAP) initiative, widening students’ perspectives and
exposing them to the cultural, economic and social nuances prevalent in the Asia-Pacific region.
Aspects of the REAP programme include: Visits by academic faculty and industry partners from
the Asia-Pacific region, as well as study trips in Asia-Pacific, including university and industry visits.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Students with the relevant accounting backgrounds, i.e. Diploma in Accountancy/Accounting,
may apply for up to three trimesters of exemptions from the first year.
For students with non-accounting backgrounds, i.e. Diplomas from other disciplines, exemption
from modules will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Accountants are highly sought-after across diverse industries such as banking, management
consulting and the service sector. Graduates can extend their professional qualifications
by completing the Singapore Qualification Programme (SQP) and becoming a Chartered
Accountant of Singapore (CA), which will enhance their career opportunities. Graduates will also
be able to pursue other professional qualifications such as CPA Australia, CAANZ, ICAEW
amongst others.
