TOPIC Cell Discovery and Theory

GRADE LEVEL Grade 7
Subject Science
Quarter 2nd Quarter
DATE and TIME
Name
Content Standard The learners demonstrate an understanding of: organisms that can only
be seen through the microscope, many of which consist of only one cell.
Performance Standard The learners should be able to: employ appropriate techniques using
the compound microscope to gather data about very small objects
Learning Competency Explain why the cell is considered the basic structural and functional
unit of all organisms.
OBJECTIVE Familiarize the history and theory of a cell.
ELICIT MATERIALS
NearPod Time to Climb!
Learners will be grouped into 5. Each group must have one android or
smart phone with data. Teacher will give the instruction on how to play the
game. Teacher will send the link where learners can enter and play. If all the
groups where able to enter the link. The interactive quiz will start. Each
group has only 15 seconds to read and answer each questions. Group with
the highest score will win the game.

Questions:

other parts of the cells and also known as “the brain of the cell”? Laptop, cellphone
a. Cell Membrane
b. Cytoplasm
c. Nucleus
2. Which part of the cell allows materials to enter and exits the cell and
also known as “the security guard of the cell”?
a. Cell Membrane
b. Cell Wall
c. Golgi Bodies
3. Which part of the cell that makes the process of photosynthesis
possible?
a. Cell Wall
b. Chloroplast
c. Vacuole
4. What do you call the “Storage Room of the Cells” and the main
function is for storage of food, water and even waste?
a. Lysosome
b. Ribosome
c. Vacuole

Cell Discovery and Theory

Laptop, PPT
 Teacher will present through a powerpoint presentation and discuss
about the cell discovery and theory.

ELABORATE: (Learners’ apply the learning experience)

Arrange the events in chronological orders as I, II, III, IV and V with I as the
oldest and V as the latest.

_____1. Tiny chambers that look like an empty compartment were called Laptop, PPT
cells.
_____2. A scientist concluded that cells comes from a pre-existing cells.
_____3. Microorganisms like bacteria and protozoa were seen under a
microscope.
_____4. Schwann studied the animal cells.
_____5. A German scientist studied plant cells.

EVALUATE: (How will you know the learners have learned the concept)
On a ¼ sheet of paper, answer the following questions.
Modified TRUE or FALSE
Direction: Write TRUE if the underlined word is correct If your answer is
FALSE, replace the underlined word with the correct answer.

pre- Laptop
existing cells.
_______2. Anton Van Leeuwenhoek theorized that all animals are
composed of cells.

_______3. Mathias Schleiden concluded that all plants are composed of

cells.

_______4. Theory is a discipline that studies the chronological records of

events.
_______5. Robert Hooke was the first person who used the term cells to
refer
the tiny structures found in organisms.

EXTEND: (Deepen conceptual understanding through the use of new

concept.)
