Introduction
The main objective of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Technology (FEAT) at the Caribbean
Maritime University is to produce multi-skilled industry ready engineers able to evaluate and
provide solutions to problems within local and global industries.
This Faculty offers programmes designed to satisfy the requirements for trained multi-disciplinary
engineers who are internationally recognized as being able to analyze, design and develop solutions
to problems in the local, regional, and global industries. The intent of these programmes is to
develop in the individual candidate, the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to function at the
supervisory and management level within a complex and rapidly changing engineering
environment. The programmes offered by the faculty are designed to take advantage of computer-
aided engineering tools and artificial intelligence to educate a multi-disciplinary engineer.
This four year bachelors degree programme was developed to satisfy the needs of local and global
industries. The first two years of this programme provides the requirements for the Associate of
Applied Sciences Degree in Industrial Systems Operations and Maintenance (ADISOM) and the
latter two years culminate into the Bachelor of Engineering in Industrial Systems Degree. The intent
of the programme is to develop in the individual candidate the knowledge, skills and attitudes
necessary to function at the supervisory and management level within complex and rapidly
changing engineering environment. This programme is designed to take advantage of computer-
aided engineering tools to educate a multi-disciplinary engineer. Candidates are prepared as critical
thinkers who are able to analyse and propose novel solutions to problems.
fundamentals of Mechanics, Electrics, Electronics, and Computer Science and how these disciplines
are combined to realize automated systems that will meet current and future requirements of the
manufacturing environment.
This four-year bachelors degree programme was developed to satisfy the needs of local and global
industries. There is an increased demand for automation, instrumentation, and control engineers
globally due to the restructuring and rapid growth in new technologies and industries, as such,
industrial processes are becoming increasingly automated. The complete programme was developed
to produce a multi-skilled engineer with broad-based knowledge of the core engineering disciplines
to enable them to assess user requirements and design, evaluate and provide solutions to problems
occurring within local and global industries. The programme design places special emphasis on
relevance to industry as well as academic rigour, thereby producing industry ready leaders who are
capable of undertaking studies in engineering at the graduate level as well as solving engineering
problems in the industry.
Based on the heavy course load needed to cover the different facets of engineering, the ADISOM
programme carries intense practical component to reinforce competency and the work based portion
is condensed in a six weeks segment at the end of year two.
