Latsis/ACG study abroad scholarship

A. Application process: Please submit the following to studyabroadoffice@acg.edu, including in the subject
line Latsis/ACG Study Abroad - Last Name, Name, ID:
1. Updated version of your resume/CV. You are strongly advised to arrange a meeting with
the Career Services for consultation on CV presentation.
2. Completed Study Abroad Application attached herewith (please ensure you have filled out all
sections in all three worksheets/tabs)
3. A passport size photo
4. Complete the statement of interest on a Word document outlining why you are interested in
the particular institution/program and how it relates to your career path. The statement has to be
no longer than 300 words and you should attach it to your application.
5. Submit the Ε1 - Tax Declaration Form for income obtained between 1-1-2021 and 31-
12-2022 (E1
– Δήλωση Φορολογίας Εισοδήματος Φορολογικού Έτους 2020 για τα Εισοδήματα που αποκτήθηκαν
από 1-1-2021 έως 31-12-2021) both from parents and the applicant (if she/he/they have it) AND Π
- Tax Clearance Forms for income obtained in the year 2021 both from parents and the
applicant (if she/he/they have it).
6. Please include links to the sources of information you are providing regarding the study abroad
institution/program, application process, costs such as housing and any other information you
deem useful.

B. Study Abroad application deadlines and timeline:


 Sunday, January 29th end of day – submission of applications
 January 30th – February 6th : Revisal period (you might be contacted for clarification on your
application) and interview appointment scheduling
 February 8th onwards: interview process
 February 28th onwards: announcement of results

C. A question and answer (Q&A) session will take place on Tuesday, January 24th at 2.10 pm on our
study abroad zoom room. Invitation will be sent beginning of January.
Please note that personal sessions will not be held prior to this presentation. You are kindly requested to
compile questions in preparation for this session.

General Information for Deree students

1. What are the selection criteria for the Latsis/ACG Study Abroad Scholarship Program? The
Committee evaluates each application based on the candidate's academic performance, statement of
interest, prior academic and professional experiences abroad, impact of proposed program on
employability, interview performance and engagement in student life at Deree (contact now the Office of
Student Affairs to find out how you can get involved in Deree Student Life). Financial need has to be
demonstrated. You are encouraged to consult with the Office of Career Services for the preparation of
your statement of interest, cv and interview. To be nominated you need to have taken a minimum of 2
courses at Deree to be able to demonstrate a GPA / CI.

2. Can I transfer credits obtained abroad towards my minor certificate? Yes, please find below
the policy and consult your academic advisors and the Validation Office.

Students who plan to study abroad for one or two semesters and who want to transfer credits earned abroad to Deree - ACG must
secure the approval of both the department head(s) and an academic advisor of the Academic Advising Office for the course(s) they
intend to take abroad one semester in advance. All students who wish to take courses abroad must submit, along with the petition, a
catalog of the accredited college or university they plan to attend or details of the programs they plan to follow and, if possible,
syllabi of the courses they intend to take, accompanied by certified English or Greek translations if original transcripts are in a third
language. Students who want to study abroad at an affiliated institution must have attended Deree - ACG for at least one semester,
have passed WP1010 with a grade of B or equivalent (see next paragraph), have completed a minimum of 30 US credits with an
overall CI of 3.0 or above, and have an exemplary discipline record. Such students are considered to be exchange students and
continue to be matriculating at Deree - ACG while studying abroad. Those interested must contact the Study Abroad Office at least a
semester before they intend to begin their study abroad. Certificate Minor students must submit to the College evidence of English
proficiency that places them in WP 1010 or above (see “Evidence of Proficiency in English” section) either before they enter their
second semester at Deree or before they start their study abroad program. Those students are advised to have satisfied the English
language proficiency requirement before they make any arrangements for studying abroad. Students cannot be granted credit for, or
exempted from, courses at Level 6 unless a course is required in their minor. For transfer courses students must earn a minimum
grade which is equivalent to a “C” in the Deree grading scale (see “Grades” section). All transfer credit requests are handled by the
Validation Office.

[…] Degree-seeking students, and non-degree seeking students who enroll in courses outside of Greece as Deree study abroad
students, may transfer a maximum of fifty percent (50%) of the credits required towards the completion of a minor. Other non-degree
seeking students must complete at least 15 US credits at Deree. Transfer courses toward a minor are accepted only from accredited
institutions. No grades are assigned to credits accepted for transfer. For transfer courses students must earn a minimum grade which
is equivalent to a “C” in the Deree grading scale (see section “Grades”), (see section “Semester, Session or Year Abroad for Deree
Students”).

2. Can I take courses outside my minor? Yes, provided you establish how it relates to your career
path in your statement of interest. Please note that these courses will not be transferred towards your
minor.

3. How many applications can I submit? Scholars are encouraged to submit more than one application
forms for study abroad stating their preferred destination. Each scholar is entitled to one study abroad
experience while pursuing a certificate minor at Deree. If not nominated, scholars can reapply for another
study abroad.

4. Can I apply for non-partner institutions? For Semester programs scholars are required to apply to
partner institutions. For Summer/Winter programs they can apply both for partner and non-partner
institutions. Please see a full list of partner institutions at http://www.acg.edu/current-students/outbound-
study-abroad/partner-institutions/. The full application form needs to be submitted in both cases. The
Outbound Study Abroad program counselors can provide input on programs offered only at partner
institutions. For non-partner institutions the candidates need to conduct research and identify the program
in which they are interested.

5. What costs are covered under the Latsis/ACG Study Abroad Scholarship Program?
Tuition (in some cases), housing, meal plans, visa issuance fees, health insurance and airline tickets.
