Hvac-05 Air Coils
Hvac-05 Air Coils
Hvac-05 Air Coils
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.2 SUMMARY
A. This Section includes the following:
1. Chilled-water coils.
2. Hot water coils
3. Refrigerant coils.
4. Electric coils.
1.3 SUBMITTALS
A. Product Data: Include rated capacities of selected models; pressure drop; shipping, in-stalled, and
operating weights; installation instructions; and startup instructions for each type of product indicated.
B. Shop Drawings: Detail equipment assemblies and indicate dimensions, weights, loads, re-quired
clearances, method of field assembly, components, and location and size of each field connection.
1. Wiring Diagrams: Detail wiring for power, signal, and control systems and differen-tiate between
manufacturer-installed and field-installed wiring.
C. Coordination Drawings: Reflected ceiling plans drawn to scale and coordinating coil loca-tion and ceiling-
mounted access panels.
D. Maintenance Data: For air coils to include in maintenance manuals as specified.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 MANUFACTURERS : -
G. Control Panel: Remote mounted with disconnecting means and overcurrent protection. Include the
following controls:
1. Magnetic contactor.
2. Mercury contactor.
3. Solid-state stepless pulse controller.
4. Toggle switches; one per step.
5. Step controller.
6. Time-delay relay.
7. Pilot lights; one per step.
8. Airflow proving switch.
H. Thermostats: Duct-mounted modulating thermostats, with temperature range from 0 to 100 deg F (minus
18 to plus 38 deg C), and 2.5 deg F (1.4 deg C) throttling range; and with 1/2-by-4-1/2-inch (13-by-115-
mm) sensing bulb and 60-inch (1525-mm) capillary.
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Examine ducts, plenums, and units to receive air coils for compliance with requirements for installation
tolerances and other conditions affecting coil performance.
B. Examine roughing-in for piping systems to verify actual locations of piping connections before coil
installation.
C. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.
3.2 INSTALLATION
A. Install coils level and plumb.
B. Install coils in metal ducts and casings constructed according to SMACNA's "HVAC Duct Construction
Standards, Metal and Flexible."
3.3 CONNECTIONS
A. Piping installation requirements are specified in other Division 15 Sections. Drawings in-dicate general
arrangement of piping, fittings, and specialties.
B. Install piping adjacent to coils to allow service and maintenance.
C. Unless otherwise indicated, connect piping with unions and shutoff valves to allow coils to be disconnected
without draining piping. Refer to piping system Sections for specific valve and specialty arrangements.
D. Ground equipment.
1. Tighten electrical connectors and terminals according to manufacturer's published torque-
tightening values. If manufacturer's torque values are not indicated, use those specified in UL
486A and UL 486B.
3.4 ADJUSTING
A. Adjust initial temperature and humidity set points.
B. Set field-adjustable switches and circuit-breaker trip ranges as indicated.
C. Straighten bent fins on each air coil.
3.5 CLEANING
A. After completing system installation, including outlet fitting and devices, inspect exposed finish. Remove
burrs, dirt, and construction debris and repair damaged finishes.
B. Clean coils using materials and methods recommended in writing by manufacturers, and clean inside of
casings and enclosures to remove dust and debris.
