Domestic violence
PART A:
Domestic violence is a type of abuse. It’s usually involved in two or more persons like spouse or
partner but it can also be a child, elder relative, or other family members. Domestic violence is a
social issue because it is present in our society. Approximately 80 to 90% of people are affected
by domestic violence. Many forms of domestic violence are present in society like physical,
mental, and emotional abuse. Domestic violence mostly affected women and children.
PART B:
1. Lack of education is the basic cause of domestic violence.
2. Gender inequality is also a cause of domestic violence.
3. Lack of awareness about children and women's rights.
4. Lack of support from the state.
5. Early marriages and child marriages are the important cause of domestic violence.
6. Women are low financial status in society.
7. The misconception of religion is another cause of domestic violence.
8. Drugs and alcoholism.
9. Childhood trauma.
10. Racial attack.
PART C:
GOVERNMENT:
Lack of support from the state: This is the main cause because the government does
not support victims and not taking action against a violent person. In Pakistan, majority
cases government support violent person because political and other power is involved.
Lack of awareness about children and women's rights: This is a serious issue of our
society because people are neglected children and women’s especially in Pakistan. In our
society, we can see many cases of child labor government are salient. Similarly, the
government is failed to give women in our society. In Pakistan, 90 % of women believe
domestic violence it’s a part of our culture.
Early marriages and child marriages: The government also failed to control child
marriages. In Pakistan according to UNICEF report 18 to 20% of girls are married before
the age of 18.
Drugs and alcoholism: Muslim countries would not have high rates of domestic violence, as
most men in Muslim countries do not drink. Blaming alcohol or drugs is often used as a way of
not accepting the fact that they have control over their behavior.
Education:
Lack of education: In Pakistan literacy rate is 60%. limited opportunities in the
educational and employment field for women. This limited opportunity creates domestic
violence because women are not aware her rights. The education lack in women main
reason is earlier marriages.
Religion:
The misconception of religion: The misconception of religion is the most important
factor domestic violence exists in both Muslim and non-Muslim societies, the position of
Islam on the kind treatment of women is very clear as mentioned in the Quran.
Family:
Childhood trauma: Many childhood trauma cases occur in our society like children hit
on normal things, sexual abuse, and murder. They create an aggressive attitude in
children’s behavior. In our educational institute like madrasa domestic violence are
normal.
Racial attack: Racism is playing a big role in domestic violence. Example Africa-
American men George Floyd was murdered by a police officer during an arrest.
Economy:
Women are low financial status in society: In Pakistan, women are tolerated domestic
violence because they are not financially strong. They are dependent on their husband or
family. They accept domestic violence as a norm.
Gender inequality: Gender inequality is the common cause of domestic violence
because our society is male dominance society. In our society educational and job
opportunities are limited for women that are the reason women are financially dependent
on the male.
PART D:
GOVERNMENT:
Lack of support from the state: Government needs to start programs and campaigns
against domestic violence. These campaigns can help to overcome domestic violence in
our society.
Lack of awareness about children and women's rights: Government needs to highlight
women and children’s rights and strictly implement the law against child labor and other
violent activities against women.
Early marriages and child marriages: In Pakistan government need to strictly
implement section 489-B of the PPC prohibits child marriages and makes it an offense.
Drugs and alcoholism: Government needs to make habitation centers and take action
against those people who are involved in drugs and alcohol supply.
Education:
Lack of education: If we want to overcome domestic violence in society we need to
improve educational institutions. Men and women are both needed to get educated
themselves.
Religion:
The misconception of religion: People should need to avoiding misconceptions against
any other religion. Domestic violence is prohibited in Muslim and Non-Muslim societies.
Family:
Childhood trauma: Parents need to understand their children. They avoid blaming.
Children may blame themselves for the trauma even if it was out of their control. Parents
need to explain to them they are not responsible and not to blame.
Economy:
Gender inequality: If you want to overcome domestic violence in society we need to
provide equal opportunities for men and women. Only those country are economical
stable their men and women are equal opportunities in education and jobs.
