Our lesson is about writing the reaction
paper/review/critique.
A reaction paper/review or a critique
may be response, or a reaction, or a kind
of prompt. The prompt could be also a
matter, a current event, or a kind of
media, including movies or video clips.

How to write a reaction paper?

1. Understand the purpose of a reaction


paper.
2. Figure out what the assignment is
asking.
3. Read the text you are assigned right
after it is assigned.
4. Write down your initial reactions.
5. Annotate the texts as you read.
6. Question as you read.

Writing your final draft


1. Write your introduction
2. Reread your reaction paragraphs to ensure
you make a stance.
3. Explain the greater implications of the text
for the class, author, audience, or yourself.
4. Edit for clarify and length.
5. Proof and spell check your document.
6. Ask yourself if you responded to the
assignment adequately.

Write a reaction paper based on the given texts. With a


minimum number of words 150 and maximum of 250 words.

Philippines: Supreme Court Rules on


Same-Sex Marriage
(Jan. 24, 2020) On January 6, 2020, the Philippines’
Supreme Court announced it had dismissed a motion to
reconsider its September 2019 ruling denying a petition
to approve same-sex marriage in the country, effectively
concluding this case “with finality.”

The petition had essentially requested that the Court


declare unconstitutional on equality grounds certain
provisions of the Philippine Family Code that define
marriage as a union between a man and a woman.
