Ladies and Gentlemen good evening!

To be honest with you all, there is a scant of nervousness right now

within me. Considering that I am now facing with our dearest law
professors not for the purpose of being grilled with vertical horizon of
questions pertaining to provisions of law and cases decided by the High
court, but to speak a little of what it is now being a member of the bar and
to inspire you guys who are soon to face the bar that would not give you
euphoria but rather plethora of thoughts and apprehensions.
Don’t worry time would be so hasty on your favor. In the same vein
success in being a member of the bar is not a monopoly only to the
brightest or to the graduates of the known schools. Bear in mind, that like
us, they are also carrying the same brains that we carry each day. Just like
a photographer, carrying an expensive camera wont guaranty a perfectly
captured photograph.
Now let’s go directly to some points that I am going to share to you
tonight. I will anchor these points to my belief in destiny and to the saying
that too much of everything is not good.
Now let me start to the first point, I really believe in destiny and to
the fact that you cannot escape your destiny, regardless of whatever
circumstances that you may experience.
On one hand, applying existing law, under article 157 of the RPC a
convicted individual may evade service of his sentence by escaping during
the term of his imprisonment by reason of final judgment, however it will
subject the said individual to the penalty of prision correctional in its
medium and maximum. Escaping one’s destiny on the other hand has no
penalty by the simple reason that one cannot just escape his own destiny.
And you know, we are all aware here of the maxim Nulla poena sine
lege praevia or there is to be no penalty without previous law. In
relation to the famous nullum crimen nulla poena sine lege or There
is no crime when there is no law punishing the same. When we are
destined to become lawyers someday then we will definitely become one
sooner or later. Trust me. Just do your thing wisely.
My second and last point is about the saying that too much of
everything is not good. Say for instance too much sugar intake would lead
us to hyperglycemia or an increased blood sugar that would lead to
diabetes. So sa mga char2 dha, now you know. Applying that to your quest
of becoming lawyers, too much study will destroy your dream. Further, too
much offbeat, dysrhythmic and unwise study methods wouldn’t help you
go further. Hence, choosing the right materials that would suit your
learning is the key. And you know, just study productively, you know what
I mean. Trust me, no matter how many times you read a book that is out
of your taste is not helpful. In contrast, studying the right material would
make you say that studying law is, well, at least not very hard right?
Hahaha. And don’t just be contented to a passing grade or score. Do your
best, enjoy the competition, I mean, let’s be realistic here. Heheeh.
To end this, I would like to leave you an inspiring line from the anime
series bleach “ We are like fireworks, we climb, we shine and
always go our separate ways and become further apart. But even
when that time comes, lets not disappear like a firework, lets
continue to shine forever”.

Thank you and once again good evening.
