    1. What is an ‘auteur’ in Auteur Theory in Film Studies?

    2. Give a definition of the Auteur Theory.

    3. Why do we need to study the auteur in analyzing a film?

    4. Can we analyze any film Director, or any Fil,m using the Auteur Theory? Why/Why
    not?

    5. Describe the steps and aims of auteur analysis of a Film.

    NOTE:

    To answer question 6 and 7, you can use outside/internet sources for your answer. You
    should quote, summarize, and reference appropriately.
    EXAMPLE ANSWER: There is an argument that the film The Last Mohican is promoting
    racial stereotypes, especially negative portrayals of early settlers and Native Americans
    [1]. Therefore, we believe that this film may conform to the problematic portrayal of
    Native Americans as suggested by McMillan [2].

    o If you answer YES, then do a brief analysis of your Film using the auteur theory
    (around 150 words). If you answer YES, you do NOT need to do question number

    o If you answer NO, give a brief reason why not (1-2 sentences), and then answer
    question 7 below.

    7. Choose any Film that can best be analyzed using the Auteur Theory, and then do a
    brief analysis of that Film using the Auteur Theory (in around 150 words). Make sure
    to write the full title of the Film, its Director, and its release year in your answer.
