her pupils.)
d. Checking of assignment No ma’am
Class do we have an assignment?
e. Motivation
Before we proceed to our discussion
for today, let us first have a short
game. The game will be called “4
Pics One Word”. Are you familiar Yes Ma’am
with that game?

Okay, Class I will post the pictures on the

board then I will call several students to
guess the words. Are you ready class? Yes Ma’am

(The teacher will post the pictures on the

board.)

1.

__ __ __ __ __ __
__ __ __ __ __ __ (The pupils will raise their hand and answer)
Relationship
Class, what can you say about the first
picture? What does it show? Who can guess?

That’s correct!

2. (The pupils will raise their hands)

Percent Ma’am
__ __ __ __ __ __ __
Who can guess the next pic?
Yes Prince?
Ver good!
3.

Class, what
can you
say about
the last picture? What does it show? Who
can guess? Yes, Sofia.
Decimal Ma’am
That’s, a very good guess Sofia. Your
answer is correct.
Now we can proceed to our lesson.

II. LESSON PROPER

A. Activity
The class will be divided into two groups.
The first row will be the group 1 and row 2
will be the group 2.

All you need to do is to place the given

numbers in their respective group if it
belongs to fraction, decimal or percent.

You have 5 mins to work on it. Be

cooperative and remain silence in making it. Yes Ma’am
Did you understand?

The pupils will make it.

You may start now.

B. Analysis

The teacher will gather and post the work of

every group.

Let us now discuss your answers.

Fraction Decimal Percent
85/100 0.85 85%
25/100 0.25 25%
3/100 0.03 3%
5/100 0.05 5%

What are your basis in placing these numbers The decimal point and percent sign.
in their respective group?

I’m so glad that all of you got the correct

answers.

C. Abstraction
Our topic for today is about the relationship
of percent and decimal.
What have you notice? They have two digits after the decimal point.
How many decimal places are there for
hundredths?

Okay, so it means that they have 2 decimal

places. Correct, thank you.
Zero
If the decimal number is in the tenths, what
will you add to make it hundredths?

Ten tenths, or 10/10, is the same as 1 whole,

so we would write 10/10 as 1. To write 1/100
as a decimal, we would place one in the
hundredths column. We place a zero in the
ones column and in the tenths column to
show it is 1/100. So 1/100 is 0.01 written as
a decimal.

I have here a problem lets try to answer it.

The school garden is about 25% of the total

land area of the school. How will you write
25% in decimals? It is 0.25 ma’am.
If we write 25% in fraction form it will
become 25/100. How about if we write it in
decimal? What do you think?

That’s correct.

Always remember the rule in changing

percent to decimal.
 To change percent to decimal, think
of the percent as a fraction with a
denominator of 100. Write the
fraction as a 2 – place decimal or
hundredths or just simply move the
decimal point 2 places to the left and
drop the % sign.
And when you are changing decimals to
percent,
 think of the decimal as a fraction with
a denominator of 100. Then, write the Yes Ma’am
fraction as a percent or simply move No Ma’am
the decimal point 2 places to the
right, then affix the % sign.
0.25 Ma’am
Are we clear?
Any questions?
0.56 Ma;am
Lets try , who can give me the decimal
number of 25%? 88% Ma’am

That’s correct. Another the decimal number 63% Ma’am

of 56%?
None Ma;m
Very good! How about the percent of 0.88?
Another, let’s have 0.63 in decimal how
about in percent?

Alright, any questions and clarification?

D. Application
Since you understand our lesson and you
don’t have any question answer this in your
notebook for 10 mins. After10 mins you will
pass your notebook.

1. 86% = 4. 32%=
2. 17%= 5. 69%=
3. 99%=
