3: Writing
Write an essay about: “The Power of Media and Information to Affect Change,
and the Responsibility of the Users.”
Media is something that always appears in our daily life. We always rely on it since it’s
the most powerful tool to get information, we are dependent on it. Media can come in different
forms; entertainment, broadcast, printed, and new media. Media can restrict you to the real
world or make you aware of the real world. What do I mean by restricting? Some people tend to
build their world inside media since the contents of media can be controlled.
Social media is a powerful instrument that allows you to engage directly with a big
audience, be a part of an ever-present online community, remain in touch with friends and
family, develop your hobbies, meet new people, and explore your own identity and opinions.
However, if not utilized appropriately and safely, social media has numerous disadvantages—
and potential repercussions. That is why, while you traverse the world of social media, you
should keep these crucial rules in mind.
There are many great things within the media, but there is also a lot of toxicity that can
be easily adapted and spread. Media is crucial to minors especially if their parents do not guide
them. Media contains Violence, sexuality, nudity, and anything inappropriate in the eyes. It’s the
parent’s responsibility to guide their children whenever their kids would get involved in media.
Since media is widespread and accessible, fake news are cannot be avoided, to the
point it will cause misunderstanding, argument, and invalidation of the minority within the
society. As a user, it’s our responsibility to make sure that the information we are disseminating
is a fact, to determine it, it must come from a reliable source, the must-have complete
information on the topic, and it is not misleading.
Never post anything too personal. As a user, you have to be very protective of your
identity since media is a way of bad intentions. Never post or give unless needed-- your whole
address, bank account number, cellphone number, email address, or anything that is connected
to your identity.
When following or engaging with someone you don't know on the internet, be watchful
and cautious. You don't know who is genuinely behind the screen, even if their profile is nice or
they are a well-known individual on the site. When communicating with "friends" online, avoid
revealing any confidential information. Never meet in person with a new online friend; chances
are they are not who they claim to be. And don't answer any of their inquiries that make you
uncomfortable.
Remember that most content that you see in your “for you pages” is a reflection of what
kind of person are you, it reflects the things that you like, do, and what entertains you. Media
rely on you in terms of positivity and decentness. Post anything that you think it will help and
would not cause any harm to anyone. Be responsible, be self-aware, be cautious, and believe in
the power of media.
