DESIGN OF FOOTINGS

Size of Column 200 mm x 400 mm 1.2 m

Design Criteria:
Soil bearing capacity = 150 kPa (assumed) f'c= 27.5 Mpa
fy= 414 Mpa
use 16 mm diameter bars
bar area 201.0624

For F1: (TYPICAL)

Pu= 371.88 kN weight of footing = 8% of Pu
Total load= Pu + 8% of Pu
Designing Pu= 375.5988 kN
Required area of footing:
A= P(DL+LL) /Soil Bearing Capacity
A= 2.50 sq.m
L= 1.58 say L= 1.6 M

Net upward soil pressure (Qu):

Qu= Pu/Area of ftg
Qu= 145.27 kPa
Mu= 167.35 kN.m
try depth= 300 mm d= 201 mm effective depth
Mu = Øf'cbd2 (1-0.59ω)ω x= 0.1773
ω = 0.1124
ρ= ωf'c/fy ρmax = 0.031
ρ= 0.00746 ρmin = 0.005 use ρ= 0.005 bottom bars
As=ρbd
As= 1608.00 mm2
no.of bars= 8.00 pcs say 9 pcs bottom bars

Check for shear:

Allowable Vc=(f'c)^0.5/6
= 419.524 KN shear capacity of footing
2 2
Vu= Qu[L -(d+c) ]
= 319.409911 kN actual two way shear
319.410 KN < 419.524 KN SAFE
Vu= Qu(bw/2-c/2) actual one way shear
= 278.910 KN < 419.524 KN SAFE

Therefore use 1.6 m x 1.6 m footing

with 9 16 mmØ RSB both ways bottom bars
Footing Depth = 300 mm
