- More people in the Philippines gained an understanding of the reality of Spanish oppression in the
country as a result of the reformists' writings. Filipinos came to the realization that reforming society
through more peaceful means was fruitless after the reform movement failed. As a result, they
came to the conclusion that their only option was to start a revolution. This eventually resulted in
the formation of the Katipunan.
7
- Katipunan was founded with the purpose of achieving three essential goals: political, moral, and
civic. To begin, the objective was to achieve complete independence for the Philippines by
severing their ties to Spain. The people of the Philippines ought to be the ones to rule the
country. This was in contrast to the reformists' objective of assimilating the native population.
Second, one of Katipunan's goals was to instill morals, cleanliness, and proper etiquette in
the populace. It wasn't just an organization; rather, it was envisioned as more of a
brotherhood or sisterhood than anything else. Last but not least, it intended to be an
association that assists each member and defends the disadvantaged and the underprivileged.
- - Following the Tejeros Convention, the revolution was already being led by erstwhile reformists
and members of the middle class who had earlier been opposed to the revolution. The
newly elected leaders of the country decided to forgo the path of revolution in order to
achieve their goal of achieving independence from Spain. They did this by initiating
dialogue with the Spanish government
8
- It was an affront to the primary goals that Katipunan and Bonifacio had established. Because it
gave up the fight for independence in the Philippines in exchange for cash from the Spaniards, it
is considered a traitor to the Philippine Revolution.

Many young people believe that engaging in political activism through social media is beneficial, but this
does not imply that every young person who participates will derive the same advantages. As a result
of the COVID-19 pandemic, social separation has become the standard across the country. As a result, a
significant portion of civic life, including political campaigning and voter registration efforts, has moved into
virtual surroundings. This refocused attention on online civic spaces has the potential to promote
youth engagement through outreach from political parties and campaigns as well as media production
driven by young people. Already, more young people were learning about elections through social
media than directly from voter registration initiatives. This trend toward participation online may be more
effective in reaching young voters, particularly new or first-time voters, whom campaigns might not
otherwise touch
