The word Kausar explains it i.e. Physical and spiritual abundance. According to a Hadis Imam Ahmad
recorded from Anas bin Malik that a man said, "O Messenger of Allah! What is Al-Kawthar He replied:
(It is a river in Paradise which my Lord has given me.
It is whiter than milk and sweeter than honey. There are birds in it whose necks are (long) like
carrots.) `Umar said, "O Messenger of Allah! Verily, they (the birds) will be beautiful. The Prophet
replied, (The one who eats them (i.e., the people of Paradise) will be more beautiful than them, O
`Umar).
These include knowledge, revelations, prophet hood etc. It also includes the River of the heaven
stated in hadith of Prophet (PBUH).
Allah reassured the revenge from those who hated and taunted Prophet (PBUH).
In fact the Makkans who taunted Prophet (PBUH) were the ones forgotten and their sons worked for
the mission of Prophet (PBUH).
Muslims recognize this Surah as a promise of Allah in this Surah came true.
The Prophet (PBUH) is remembered by his spiritual offspring i.e. the Muslim Ummah which has been
forwarding Prophet (PBUH)’s name, mission and cause.
SURAH AD-DUHA (93)
The chapter was revealed at Mecca. It has one section, eleven verses forty words and one hundred
seventy two letters. In the circumstances of its revelation it has been narrated that the revelation
was not received by the prophet for three years.
The infidels began to say that Allah has left Muhammad (pbuh), so this chapter was revealed.
The fundamental lesson of this surah is the favours that Allah (SWT) has given His messenger and
this surah and the next is dedicated to the favours of Allah (SWT).
In this surah Allah (SWT) describes the favours He has given the messenger ( )ﷺand at the end He
will tell the messenger ( )ﷺwhat he should do as a show of gratitude.
When someone is given favours and blessings they should be grateful for it and acknowledge it and
we as followers of Muhammad ( )ﷺshould follow his perfect example.
Some experts (of Hadis) were of the opinion that this surah was revealed in response to criticism and
ridicule directed towards the messenger ( )ﷺfrom the pagans.
The revelation had stopped for a few days which intensely grieved and saddened the messenger ()ﷺ
to the extent that a group from amongst the pagans (Ibn Kathir mentions that it was the wife of Abu
Lahab) began to sarcastically ridicule him.
She would say that Allah had abandoned Muhammad and that He was unhappy with him.
It is important to appreciate that the messenger ( )ﷺwas thoroughly concerned with the plight of
humanity and fully aware of the fact that there would be no prophets to come after him.
Thus, there is a huge burden on his shoulders as if fails in his mission then not only the Quraysh but
also the whole of humanity will be destroyed.
When people reject the message the prophet ( )ﷺas a result is worried that he is doing something
wrong and that there are shortcomings in his efforts.
As a result he is constantly blaming himself. Allah (SWT) constantly tells Muhammad ( )ﷺnot to
worry and that he is not as fault yet the taunting of the disbelievers which are intended to make him
feel bad is gradually cultivating the thought in his mind that maybe he in fact did do something
wrong which is why the revelation has stopped.
The pause of revelation was like the dark night when it is still. The prophet ( )ﷺcould not wait until
the softness of the morning sun and revelation returned.
The revelation did return and this was not a permanent cease in the same way that the night and
darkness is not permanent and gives way to the morning.
Imam Ahmad recorded from Jundub (ibn Abdullah) that he said, “The Prophet became ill, so he did
not stand for prayer for a night or two.
Then a woman came and said, `O Muhammad! I think that your devil has finally left you.’
2|sohrwardypk@gmail.com
So Allah revealed, ‘By the forenoon. By the night when it darkens, Your Lord has neither forsaken you nor
hates you.’” Al Bukhari, Muslim, At-Tirmidhi, An-Nasai, Ibn Abi Hatim and Ibn Jarir, all recorded this
Hadith.
In a narration from Al- Aswad bin Qays, he said that he heard Jundub say that Jibril was slow in
coming to the Messenger of Allah.
So the idolaters said, “Muhammad’s Lord has abandoned him.” So Allah revealed, ‘By the forenoon.
By the night when it darkens Your Lord has neither forsaken you nor hates you.’
Al-`Awfi reported from Ibn `Abbas, “When the Qur’an was revealed to the Messenger of Allah,
(Angel) Jibril was delayed from coming to him for a number of days (on one occasion).
Therefore, the Messenger of Allah was affected by this. Then the idolaters began to say, `His Lord
has abandoned him and hates him.’ So Allah revealed this surah.
Surah Naas and Surah Falaq
The following last two Surahs of the Holy Quran were revealed together. These Surahs were revealed
to the Holy Prophet (pbuh) during a time when His health was slightly affected by witchcraft or black
magic.
There was a Jew called Labid ibn al-Asam who got hold of the Prophet's (pbuh) blessed hair and put
a spell on it. He then put the hair in a well. The Prophet (pbuh) became very sick.
After a few days Hazrat Jibraaiyl (A.S) came to Muhammad (pbuh) and told him that a Jew had made
Jaa'doo (cast a magic spell) on him and had buried the Jaa'doo items under a stone in a certain well.
Our Prophet (pbuh) sent Hazrat Ali (R.A) to remove the magic items. Hazrat Ali (R.A) went
immediately to that well and emptied the water from it.
He found the stone and lifted it. Underneath the stone was a bag made of date palm fibers and in it
was the blessed hair of our Prophet (pbuh).
He also found a few teeth of the blessed comb of Nabi Muhammad (pbuh) and a line or a string of a
bow on which was tied eleven knots.
There was also a puppet made of wax in which there were 11 needles. The Jaa'doo (Magic) items
were brought to Muhammad (pbuh).
Almighty Allah (S.W.T) then revealed these two Surahs together to Muhammad (pbuh). Surah Falaq
had five Ayat and Surah Naas had six Ayat, altogether counting eleven.
When Muhammad (pbuh) read all the eleven Ayahs, all the knots were opened one by one. The
Prophet (pbuh) was cured.
The Prophet (pbuh) urged Muslims to recite these two Surahs as often as possible.
It will protect us from the evil works of Devils, Jinn or Magic. It will protect us from hatred and
jealousy.
When anyone speaks ill about you, when you are feeling sad or unable to concentrate in your Salat,
then you must recite these two Surahs.
An-Naas means "The People". This Surah was revealed in Madina.
It has 6 Ayahs, 20 words and 79 letters Surah an-Naas teaches us to place our trust in Allah (S.W.T).
It teaches us to seek Allah's protection against things that might affect us.
We should not place our trust in man. Allah (S.W.T) is our Ruler.
The Surah warns us against the secret whispers of evil inside our hearts.
It also warns us about the evil that may come from other men or invisible spirits.
As long as we put ourselves in Allah's (S.W.T) protection and we trust in Allah (S.W.T), evil will not
be able to affect us. ***
AYAT AL KURSI (2:255)
The verse 255, and also according to some hadiths and views of some scholars of Quranic exegesis
verses 256 and 257, of Surah al-Baqarah are parts of the al-Kursi Verse. Of various notions in this
verse, the two notions of "Qayyum" and "Kursi" have been more controversial
among Muslim scholars.
3|sohrwardypk@gmail.com
The word "Kursi" means seat, throne, knowledge, and the realm. In different hadiths, "Kursi" in this
verse has been interpreted as divine knowledge; thus the verse means that "his knowledge extends
to heavens and the Earth". According to a tradition came from Imam al-Sadiq (Rz), "Kursi" is a sort
of knowledge, unique to God, of which He has not informed any of his prophets and Imams.
With respect to its content, the al-Kursi Verse contains deep religious doctrines, and hadiths have
emphasized the virtues of reciting the verse and its positive impacts on one's life.
The verse came to be called "al-Kursi" since the time of the Prophet ()ﷺ.
He is quoted as saying that "the greatest verse in Qur'an is the al-Kursi Verse" and "the master of all
words in Qur'an; the master of Qur'an is Surah, and the master of Surah al-Baqarah is the al-Kursi
Verse".
The verse has always been particularly honored by Muslims, since all Islamic doctrines rest
upon monotheism, which is comprehensively summarized in the al-Kursi Verse.
The verse characterizes both the Divine essence and the Divine attributes and acts.
There are many hadiths concerning the features and positive impacts of reciting the al-Kursi Verse in
different circumstances.
According to these hadiths, it is mustahab to recite this verse in all conditions, particularly after
performing prayers, before going to sleep, when leaving home, when facing dangers and troubles,
when riding a vehicle, to prevent evil eyes, for health, and so on.
Recitation of Ayat al Kursi in the morning will keep you under the protection of Allah till night. Also,
recitation of this verse will keep your family as well as wealth safe from Satan.
The recitation of Ayat al Kursi is very advantageous if you have a weak memory.
To increase your memory, do recite this leading verse.
Recite this verse for your loved ones who have died. It will be a source of light for them in the dark
graves.
To keep you safe from the pain of death, you must recite this powerful verse regularly.
Its recitation will ease the pain of death and will make your death easy. Always recite this verse
when you are leaving for outside. Its recitation will keep you under the protection of angels.
Recite Ayat al Kursi when you go to bed to be under the protection of Allah when you are sleeping.
If you are uneasy and feel any kind of fear, recite this verse. It will take off all of your fears and you
will feel calm. Its recitation after a prayer will become a source of acceptance of your prayer.
Make a habit of reciting Ayat al Kursi verse after every prayer.
And one who recite Ayat ul Kursi 4 times will get the reward of reading one Quran E Pak.
Recite Ayat al Kursi while leaving home, And 70,000 Angles will protect you.
If someone recite Ayat ul Kursi on entering home, then poverty won’t enter that home.
One who recite Ayat al Kursi after wudu, it raises him 70 times in Allah’s rank.
One who recite after obligation Salah and the only thing that is separating you from paradise is
Death.
And one who recite Ayat al Kursi before sleeping Allah will protect not only him/her, but also his
neighbor’s home from devil.
And one who recite Ayat al Kursi daily will surely enter into Jannah. Who recite it daily basis will
remain protected from devil and his mischiefs.
And if anyone who is indigent, recite Ayat ul Kursi, within some days his indigence and poverty will
go away. For the protection of house from theft, hang the inscription of Ayat ul Kursi at the high
place of home. It will also increase and beatitudes the income.
And if any house is affected by jinnat, then to remove the effect of them, recite Ayat al Kursi 4
thousand and 1 hundred time for 40 days, jinnat will leave that place with the beatitude of Ayat ul
Kursi.***
Reason for Surah Al Alaq (96: 1-5)
Muhammad ﷺwas born and raised in Makkah. When he was nearly 40, he used to spend many
hours alone in prayer and speculating over the aspects of creation.
4|sohrwardypk@gmail.com
He was concerned with the "ignorance of divine guidance" (Jahiliya), social unrest, injustice,
widespread discrimination (particularly against women), fighting among tribes and abuse of tribal
authorities prevalent in pre-Islamic Arabia.
The moral degeneration of his fellow people, and his own quest for a true religion further lent fuel to
this, with the result that he now began to withdraw periodically to a cave named Mount Hira, three
miles north of Mecca, for contemplation and reflection.
Islamic tradition holds that Muhammad during this period began to have dreams replete with spiritual
significance which were fulfilled according to their true import; and this was the commencement of his
divine revelation.
This created inclination in him to engage himself in solitary worshipping.

Allah which, according to you, is the greatest? I said: Allah, there is no god but He, the Living, the
Eternal. Thereupon he struck me on my breast and said: May knowledge be pleasant for you, O Abu'l-
Mundhir! {Book 004, Number 1768: (Sahih Muslim)}
This proves Ayat al Kursi to be most virtuous/greatest verse of Quran al Kareem.
In His middle age, Hazrat Muhammad ﷺembarked on a spiritual journey of finding the purpose of
existence on earth and True God.
He used to visit a small cave of Hira present on the Peak of Jabl al Nur (Mountain of Light).
At the age of 40, He (PBUH) finally received the first Revelation from Allah SWT sent through His Angel,
Gabriel (Jibrael A.S) on 27 th of Ramadan. Muslims all over the globe worship the Almighty Lord in last
Ashra (10 Days of this Holy Month) to find Lailatul Qadr in association with discovery of the Sacred Book
in it.
The account of the first Revelation that Rasulullah ﷺreceived in Ghar (Cave) e Hira was narrated as
follows: “The angel came to him and asked him to read. The Prophet replied ‘I do not know how to read’.
The Prophet added, ‘The angel caught me (forcibly) and pressed me so hard that I could not bear it any

more. He then released me and again asked me to read and I replied, “I do not know how to read”.
Thereupon he caught me again and pressed me a second time till I could not bear it any more. He then
released me and again asked me to read, but again I replied, “I do not know how to read” (or what shall I
read?). Thereupon he caught me for the third time and pressed me, and then released me and said:
“Read, in the name of Your Lord, who created, created man from a clot. Read! And Your Lord is the most
bountiful” … (Bukhari)
In the previously stated recounting of the original happening, it can be deduced that the Messenger ﷺ
Allah upon receiving the First Heavenly Exposure, was in a state of great surprise.
Jibraaiyl (A.S) repeatedly told Him to read by The Name of The Creator, although He (PBUH) had not the
ability to do so.
It shows that Allah SWT has blessed the entire world population through educating the Holy Prophet ﷺ
first Who then became the source of ultimate enlightenment for His followers till the End of the World.
Surah Al-`Alaq is no doubt the very first Chapter to have been revealed on the Holy Prophet ﷺbut it
comes on 96th number in the Hallowed Manuscript.
It contains 19 Verses in total. It is short yet highly comprehensive Interval of Furqan e Hameed containing
the most important instruction of getting knowledge and Knowing about the Creator of the universe.
The Occasion of the Revelation
As it was mentioned in the description of the content of this Surah, the majority of commentators believe
that this is the first Surah that came to the heart of the holy Prophet (S).
Some have even said that all the commentators believe that the first five verses, of the Surah, were the
first direct Revelation to the holy Prophet (S).
Their contents confirm this idea, too. Some narrations denote that the holy Prophet (S) had gone to
Mount Hira when Gabriel came and told him: "Iqra'" (Read/ Proclaim).
He said that he was not 'versed'. Gabriel embraced him and told him again to proclaim; and the Prophet
(S) repeated the same answer.
Gabriel embraced him for a second time, but was given the same answer. Then, for the fourth time he
told him: "Read (Proclaim!) In the name of your Lord Who created", (and recited the first five
verses).
Finishing the verse, Gabriel then took leave from the; Prophet (S).
The Messenger of Allah, his energy spent due to receiving the first rays of Revelation, went to his wife,
Khadijah, and told her: "Cover me; wrap me in a mantle”.
The following is a tradition from Tabarsi in Majma'-al-Bayan, and he cites that the Messenger of Allah told
Khadijah that whenever he was alone he heard a voice.
According to Tabarsi, Khadijah told Muhammad (S): "Allah will not bring anything on you but goodness
because you are trustworthy and pay the deposits, you observe bonds of relationship, and you are
truthful in speech.”
Khadijah said this statement and then, she went to see Waraqah-ibn Nufil (He was Khadijah's cousin and
was of the knowledgeable Arabs.)
She described to him what had happened to Muhammad (S) and added that he had heard the voice say:
"O Muhammad say: ‘Bismillah-ir-Rahman-ir-Rahim, al-Hamd-u-lillah-i-Rabb-al-'alamin (to the
end of Surah Fatihah)'; and say: 'La Ilaha Illallah’”.
Waraqah said: "Rejoice thou! Rejoice thou! According to what is mentioned in Taurat and Ingeel it is clear
that he is the Messenger of Allah and he is the very one that Jesus Christ told about in his glad tidings. He
has a religion like that of Moses; he is an apostle. He will be told to fight in the Holy War soon after this,
and if I am alive then, I will be with him in that Holy War.”
Later, when Waraqah died, the Messenger of Allah said: "I saw him in Heaven (the Heaven of the Lesser
Judgment) having a high rank for he had believed in me and confirmed me.”
There are, of course, some unflattering statements cited in various history books or some commentaries
about this period of Muhammad's life which seem incorrect.
They are probably inserted by the enemies of Islam to taint both the idea about this divine religion and
the person of the holy Prophet (S).
Regarding what was said above, we are only concerned, here with these commentaries of the verses,
which will be cited in this text.
11 | s o h r w a r d y p k @ g m a i l . c o m
Read (Proclaim!) In the Name of your Lord!
In the first verse of the Surah, it addresses the holy Prophet (S) and says: "Read (Proclaim)! In the
Name of your Lord Who created".
Some have said that the object is not mentioned in the sentence, which basically would be: 'Read
Proclaim) the Qur'an in the Name of your Lord', and that is why they have considered this verse as
an evidence that /bismillah/ is combined with the Suras of Qur'an.
It is worthy to note here first of all, that the emphasis is on the proposition of Lordship and we know
that /rabb/ means a 'reformer Lord', the one Who is both the master and the cherisher.
Then, to establish the Lordship of Allah, it emphatically refers to the 'creation and the existence of this
universe', because the best reason for His Lordship is, His Creative attribute.
The One Who runs and sustains the universe is its Creator.
This is, indeed, an answer to the pagan Arabs who had accepted the creative power of Allah, but, they
assumed the lordship and device of this world for their own idols and gods.
Besides, the Lordship of the Lord and His Device, in this World, are the best evidence for proving His
Being.
Then, amongst all the creatures of the world, it emphasizes on the best and the most important of them,
i.e. Man, and referring to his creation, it says:"Created man out of a clot (of congealed blood)”.
The term /'alaq/ originally means 'to adhere to something', and hence, some congealed blood or a leech
which sticks to the body to suck blood, is called /‘alaq/.
Since the life-germ, in the course of its first processes until it becomes a foetus, changes to a type of
sticking clot which is apparently very worthless, it is, indeed, the basic origin of the creation of Man, then,
it makes the power of Allah clear that it is He Who is able to create such a worthy creature from such a
lowly unworthy thing.
Some have also said that the objective point of using /‘alaq/, here is due to the clay of which Adam came
from and which was sticky, too.
It is obvious that the Creator Who creates this wonderful creature from that sticky piece of clay is apt to
be worshipped.
Furthermore, some have considered the term /‘alaq/ as meaning 'a possessor of kindness and affection'.
This refers to the social and gregarious manner of men and the love they have for each other which is the
main basis of Man's development and progress in the history of his civilization.
Again, some have thought of the term /‘alaq/ as referring to 'the male seed' which they thought much
resembled a 'leech'.
It was their understanding that this microscopic creature, which swims in the fluid of men, approaches the
woman's 'seed', in the womb, and adheres to it and that by the combining of these two complete 'seeds'
Man came into being.
It is true that at the time of the appearance of Islam these problems were not known to Man, but the Holy
Qur'an, as a scientific miracle, unveiled the true meaning.
Among these four commentaries, the first one seems more clear, although to combine all of them,
together, is also possible.
It is understood, then, from what was said in the above that 'man', according to one commentary, means
Adam, and according to the other three commentaries, means only 'Man'.
To emphasize the matter, again it says: "Read (Proclaim), and your Lord is the Most Generous".
Some believe that the second /iqra'/ 'read (proclaim)’, is an emphasis on the first /iqra'/ in the
previous verses, while some others say that they are different.
In the first sentence, the term requires the Prophet (S) to read (proclaim) to himself and in the second
sentence, it means to read (proclaim) to people.
But, the idea of emphasis seems more appropriate because there is no evidence available to show the
difference between them.
In any event, this verse, in fact, is an answer to the statement of the Prophet (S) who responded to
Gabriel saying: 'I am not versed’; and it means: 'you can read (proclaim) because of the extreme
graciousness and the extraordinary generosity of your Lord'. Then, it tells about Allah Who is the Most
Generous and says: "Who taught by the Pen". "Taught man that which he knew not".
In fact, these verses are also an answer to that very statement of the Prophet (S) who said: 'I am not
versed'. Now, it replies that it is the same god Who taught the human being by the 'pen', and taught him
12 | s o h r w a r d y p k @ g m a i l . c o m
the things that he did not know, and Who is capable of teaching a servant, like 'you', who does not know
how to read.
The verse "Who taught by the Pen" can be rendered in two ways.
The first is that: Allah taught writing and the book to Man and it is He Who is able to do this portent; to
establish the origin of all sciences, knowledge and civilizations in him.
The second meaning is that through this way and by this means Man is taught all of the sciences and
knowledge.
In short, according to one commentary, the objective meaning is 'teaching how to write' and another
commentary says the objective meaning is 'the sciences taught to man by writing'.
In any case, this is an expressive statement, full of meaning, that was issued in these great verses at the
sensitive moments of the onset of revelation.
Explanations
The First Revelation Was Accompanied by a Societal Movement
These verses, as was mentioned before, according to the belief of most or all commentators, are the first rays
of the Divine Light that glittered into the holy heart of the Prophet (S). This incident was a new door opened
to humanity, and a new chapter was founded in the history of the human race, and then, Mankind was
bestowed one of the greatest Blessings of Allah. the most complete divine religion, which was the last of all
religions, was descended.
And after that descent, all the precepts of the religion, the ordinance of Allah, was completed according to the
sense of "...This day have I Perfected your religion for you, completed my favour upon you, and
have chosen for you Islam as your religion".
It is interesting to note that the fact is the Prophet (S) was unlettered and was not taught, and at the time
when the territory of Hijaz was filled with ignorance, in the first verses of this Surah, of the revelation, the
proposition of 'science and the Pen' is emphasized which is mentioned immediately along with the great
blessing of 'creation'.
In fact, at first these verses tell about the development of the 'body' of Man from such an unworthy thing as a
clot, and on the other hand, they speak about the development of his 'soul' by means of training and
education, especially by the pen.
On the day when these verses were revealed, not only in the territory of Hijaz, which was the territory of
ignorance, few people valued the pen, but also in the civilized world of that time, the pen was worth little.
Today, however, we know that the basis of whole civilizations, different kinds of knowledge, and the
progresses of Man in different fields pivots on the existence of the 'pen'. The rank of scholars has preceded
that of the martyrs, because the source for the appearance of the martyrs is really in the ink of the scholars'
pen, and basically, it is their 'pen' that can change the destiny of individuals in different societies.
In communities, improvements often start by the pen of faithful, believing people who feel responsibility, but,
also, vice and corruption originate from poisonous pens, too.
That is why the Holy Qur'an makes an oath to the 'Pen' and to what the 'Pen' produces, thus:
"Nun. By the Pen and by the (Record) which (men) write".
We know that the whole life of the human being is divided into two distinct periods: the historical period and
the prehistorical period. The historical period begins from the time that the invention of writing appeared on
the scene and Man used the 'pen' and was acquainted with reading and writing and as a consequence, Man
could leave some trail's from his life for later generations. Hence, the history of Man can be dealt with from
the date he could use the 'pen'; when the 'pen' and 'writing' appeared in the history of Man's life.
Therefore, from the very early beginning, Islam was founded on the basis of the
'Pen' and 'knowledge'; and it is for this same reason that backward people of early Islam could progress in
science so much so that they succeeded in introducing and exporting new scientific findings to Europe and all
over the world.
As the popular European historians confess, it was the light of the knowledge of Muslims that enlightened the
darkened feature of medieval Europe and let them enter the gate of the Golden age.
There are many books, in this field, supplied by the European writers, themselves, under different titles such
as 'the History of the Civilization of Islam', or 'Islamic Heritage'.
How disgraceful is a nation with this historical background and with a rich religion like this to fall behind in the
path of science and be in need of non-Muslim nations or even dependent on them!
Remembrance of Allah in any Condition
At first, the invitation of the Prophet (S) started with the remembrance of the Name of Allah:
13 | s o h r w a r d y p k @ g m a i l . c o m
"Read (Proclaim)! In the Name of your Lord...”
And it is interesting that the whole fruitful life of the Prophet (S) was associated with His remembrance.
The remembrance of Allah accompanied each of his breaths; in his rising, sitting, sleeping, walking, riding,
starting, stopping, all in all; he was always with the Name of Allah.
When he awakened he used to say: "Praise be to Allah, Who raises us after our death: and unto Him is the
Resurrection".
Several traditions similar to the above-mentioned one are also cited which conform to this idea.
