WHAT IS FIRST AID?
It is an immediate and temporary care given to a person who suddenly get ill or injured. It includes self-help and
home care if medical assistance is not available or delayed.
P – Prolong Life
1. Bridge the gap between the time of the accident and the arrival of the physician.
2. Ends when medical assistance begins.
3. Doesn’t intend to compete with or take place of the physician.
3 KEYS OF BANDAGING
1. Applying pressure to bleeding wounds
2. Covering wounds and burns
3. Providing support and immobilization for broken bones, sprains, and strains.
TYPES OF BANDAGES
ELASTIC BANDAGE - A stretchable bandage used to create localized pressure.
LIQUID BANDAGE - Skin treatment for minor cuts and sores.
GAUZE BANDAGE - Loosely woven that is used for bandaging wound.
TUBE BANDAGE - Used to hold dressings or splints on to limbs.
TRIANGULAR BANDAGE - Used for slings and pads to control bleeding. It may also be used to support or immobilize
an injury to a bone or joint or as improvised padding over a painful injury.
