Rules

Play Hard
Play by the Rules
Know all of
your
options
and use
the rules
to your
advantage.
Point of note: Don’t
drop on the line of
entry, but rather, in
line with the pin.

Furthermore, don’t
hit in the water in
the first place.
Tricky one.
Make sure
you pay
attention!!!1
Note that this in not the same as the last slide. This
Is not a mixed hazard. In this case the stakes are all
Yellow. Therefore you must drop on this side of the
Hazard, even though your ball entered on the other
Side.
Weird
things
happen
out
there…
Know the
rules!!!!
Main point of emphasis
is to not touch your
putting line. If you need
to fix a ball mark, get
confirmation from your
group.
Use this rule to
your advantage.
However, once
again get
confirmation from
the group if there
are any questions.
Note that it
states one club
relief, not two
as in relief
from a hazard.
Be careful when
making your
stance and with
any practice
swings. If a leaf
or even pine
needles fall, it’s a
penalty
It’s poor ethique
to stand directly
behind and
dangerous to
stand in front
anyway.
This is an
unforced
error.
This
should
NEVER
happen
Put unique
or easy to
identify
marks on
your ball.
If there is no
marker with
your group,
notify your
group what you
are doing
before lifting
the ball.
Emphasis
is
minimum
cleaning!!!!
After all that…
Don’t mess it
up now.
Can you
say T.C.
Chen?

Google
him.
If you hit onto
the green and
hit another ball,
play your ball
where it lies.
Replace the
other ball to it’s
original position.
A good example
would be a ball that
came to rest
against a rake
outside the bunker.
Good practice
would be to mark
your ball, move the
rake, and then
replace your ball if
it does indeed
move.
Immovable Obstruction
Cart path,
sidewalk, yardage
marker, sprinkler
head are all
examples.
Nearest Relief
Use this rule
to your
advantage.
However, once
again get
confirmation
from the
group if there
are any
questions.
This is
another
unforced
error.
Should not
happen!!!!!
Plugged in
the rough,
you might
have to play
an
unplayable
lie.
Do not ground
your club!!!. If
your ball is near
the edge of
bunker that is not
clearly
identifiable, play
it safe and do not
ground your club.
Remember D.J. at
Whistling
Straits!!!
Know the
difference
between loose
impediments
and movable
obstructions.
Talk this one
through with the
other person and
make sure you
play it correctly.
Sometimes
the penalty
stroke is
the smart
play.
Know all of
your options in
an unusual
situation like
this.
You cannot take
free relief from a
out of bounds
marker. If a
fence is the out
of bounds marker,
you do not get
free relief.
Once again,
know all of
your options
before play
your next
shot.
Make sure you
communicate
your intentions
with the group.
If you choose
this option,
commit to it.
Don’t hurry
through it.
Don’t go
through all of
this and forget
to notify the
scoring
committee.
