You need to complete a PROJECT PROPOSAL form and PITCH to show understanding of your chosen idea and
the ability achieve it.
You then need to RESEARCH & ANALYSE, PLAN & CREATE and REFLECT, on a Creative Media piece (or
series of them) for submission as a final graded media project.
The focus of this has to be the development of more advanced TECHNICAL SKILLS backed up by excellent
RESEARCH, PLANNING, and EVALUATIVE skills.
You will need to thoroughly explore and investigate your chosen area of media and show personal interrogation and
understanding of the format, and how it impacts your own work and idea.
A PRODUCTION DIARY is vital, as is the full range of production paperwork. This brings together everything
you have learned all year. Have fun with it, you have plenty of time, but also be focused and organised. This is the
END GAME.
To complete unit 8 you must:
Unit 8: 1.1 Analyse the requirements and parameters of a creative media production project.
This means that you must complete a project proposal form, clearly setting out the aims and objectives of
your project. Then you need to clearly identify and discuss the parameters and requirements of the
production / post-production needs for a specific or range of activities relating to your project, this will take
the form of a professional project pitch. You need to consider the areas needed for further research and
study and discuss each of these briefly. Be sure to keep all records of this activity.
Unit 8: 2.1 Review a range of research sources to support a creative media production project
This is where you actively do your research! It should be displayed as a digital research diary on a blog
and should include a mix of primary and secondary sources. It should include a range of technical /
practical research conducted by yourself as well as samples from other sources.
Unit 8: 2.2 Interpret research to develop ideas and effectively communicate to an audience
This means that you will need to create and develop a range of idea development activities linked to your
research. You are required to plot all aspects of this development focusing on drafts, technical research,
meeting deadlines, problem solving. Evidence is provided in the digital production diary.
Unit 8: 3.1 Apply practical skills, knowledge and understanding to complete a creative media project
within an agreed timeframe
This means that you will need to engage in a range of skills-based activities in order to produce your final
media product. Every aspect of work you produce for your final product will relate to this. The following
practices could relate to this: planning, liaising with contributors, managing project, managing team,
camera, lighting, sound, editing skills, directing, meeting deadlines, problem solving. Evidence is provided
in a digital production diary and the final media product.
Unit 8: 4.1 Critically evaluate a creative media project against the agreed requirements and
parameters
This section is asking that you reflect upon your production, all techniques, research and planning in the
implementation of your project. Consider what the positives and negatives were. What you could / should
have improved upon and what strategies / methods you’ll adopt for a similar type of project in the future.
You MUST reflect on these practices and skills in relation to your own personal development of skills.
Keep evidence of ongoing analysis in your digital production diary including a final product evaluation
entry
GOOD LUCK!
